@osc45180 Get the Phenom X3 Black edition and overclock it, you should be able to hit somewhere near 4Ghz if you buy a good aftermarket heatsink for it, and my Athlon II x2 245 comes VERY close to running this game fullspeed with beta r1888 and the microVU compilers.

A quad core wont do shit because PCSX2 dont use all the cores of a quad. It matters how much Mhz your CPU is clocked to.

@PCgame4life The most important part is being clocked as high as possible, but extra cores help out in giving the emulator dedicated cores to run on, offloading the rest of the system to the extra 2 cores. Also, the new beta r1888 has the new microVU recompilers, which should give quads a boost in performance due to the fact that they can ultimately be threaded.

@Usul573 Yeah it will be ok on some game but other games like Tekken you need 3.6ghz or better. PCSX2 dont use 4 cores because it dont support quad core. It will just use to cores like a duel core CPU.

I've similar config like author of this vid but in my case the game goes rather slow. I've E8200 and GTX260. I've configured exacly as shown on the righ side PCSX 0.96, but when i walk trough woood near entrance to (trough the big grass) Dremuchnij North i've massively slow down. I think that framerate goes down from around 50/60 to maybe 20. I dont know why, i've tried XP, tried 7 and it's always the same. Game just slow down on some levels.

I REALLY suggest MGS3, the subsistence version (if you can find one) as IMHO it is the best in the series, best since MGS1 and definitely blows MGS2 out of the water.

So much potential, imagine if studios could sell emulation profiles on PSN for their old games.

There would then be a huge incentive then for companies like Konami to work on getting games like MGS3:S to work in 720p and 2xAA and they could actually have a way of profiting off sale of pre-owned games (as that is pretty much the only place you find old games now).

PS3 is plenty powerful, but the architecture of both PS3 and PS2 are so complex... but the guys at PCSX2 have shown the potential.

I played MG3 and you just have to find the best configuration of pcsx2 that will work with you rig. The main problem is the processor. Sure it was barely playable in 20% of the time but if you realy like the saga you will endure. Ha ha remembered (spoiler):
