I did like this game a lot, but I think they were a little inconsistent with their target audience. A lot of the dialogue has a simpler speech pattern, there are puzzles that are targeted towards and older audience. This doesn't stop it from being a great game with fantastic music, and probably the best custsenes and voice acting for the DS, with an interesting and unexpected story-line as well. However, i preferred the sequel since it worked out a few of the kinks.

@happyzombiegoasts123 Yeah, but think of WHY they're robots. They're there to protect Flora, Reinholds daughter, who owns the village. They're there to make sure nobody comes in and takes the treasure who isn't worthy enough.
Finally, a decent adventure game to test the mind instead of blasting the monsters with your super-powered uranium enriched subatomic plasma cannon to get to the next level.
Enjoyable and intriguing brain games for the masses!

This is why the DS is king people who would never play a game are picking up games like Proffesor Layton,brain training ect while hardcore gamers are enjoying Castlevania,metroid,and the world ends with you.
this is the best game in history... it combines great art, music, and finally strangly addicting puzzles that will have you thinking for hours! i'm so glad i bought this game... i cant stop drawing Professor Layton and humming his theme song...
Some of the puzzles can actually be solved in alternative ways than what is indicated by the game as solutions to these puzzles. Do you guys know what Im talking about? For example, the the magic square puzzle with the number 51 and the one where you had to find out how much larger a red square is to another square within it? For those two problems, i worked out a solution that was somewhat different that the solution given by the game..and I still got those puzzles right!

Sorry, but this game suck's big, academics should alway's stay in school and not transition into gaming, I think people have enough math in advance calculus.
No offense SoaringNimbus but I bet you couldn't solve a puzzle, got all pissed, gave up on the game, and stuck to a sports game like the simpleton you probably are.
This game is really good, but some of the biggest problem is that some questions are just way too confusing, even with the hint coins. As stated in the video about the match problems, there this one puzzle, that I thought I did right, because to me, the resulting match arrangement looked like what the riddle was asking for, but it was wrong and it sort of ticked me off because I spent a long time trying to figure it out. Nevertheless, a great game.
yeah its good but what about phoenix wright? its also good, and if they made a crossover with these two game i'd speak spanish

I just loved this game so much!
It's got adventure, a nice story and PUZZLES.
I thought the puzzels would be too easy to complete when i saw the very first one; but when i got to puzzle no. 5, I was delighted!
Some puzzles gave me a really hard time, especially sliding puzzles...
All in all, it's an excellent game.
