You can't really resist much if you don't defend yourself. Going out and getting violent for no reason is stupid and shouldn't happen but self defense should happen because cops will kill you with no remorse whether you are non violent or not so it is better that you take a chance and truly stand up for what you believe in and defend it too the death as so many of our ancestors on Mother Earth have done!

How are you standing up if you won't defend yourself? How much do you really believe in something if you won't defend it? People use nonviolence because they don't mind the states violence against us and want it too continue because they don't want a large group of those who actually care about something to take power and ruin their little protest spectacles they have on occassion. tell that to the protest organizers and their speakers. theres always these shills telling the protesters that they are practicing "civil disobedience"( during a lawful, government permitted march ?!) and opposition(more like "Her Majesty's loyal opposition" - Ward Churchill). the speakers often make outrageous claims like "we are ending this war right now!" then the protesters get all excited and cheery thinking they have actually accomplished something. then most of them go home satisfied.

It is civil resistance -- not CD. We are calling out the government for its massive law-breaking (not highlighting an unjust law). There is a shift occurring, maybe not as quickly as we would want. But without this kind of pressure, nothing will change. We need to fill up the courts and jails, and begin to break the system.

Two or three years ago there was a lot of negotiating with authorities, but not anymore. By the way, I am not with ANSWER or UFPJ.
