  • Sondre is absolutely brilliant.

  • Thumbs up if you dont play guitar but you love seeing this video more than anything.

  • this is my dream come true.

  • "save those for later" hahahha he's so cute!

  • thank God, they didnt cut it.

  • seeing the process, skill and attention that sondre puts into his song made my appreciation just grow soo much.

  • I looove that he speaks english so well, I get so embarresed when Norwegians speak bad english, just cause it sounds so damn awful. Sondre Lerche is a living proof that even us Norwegians can speak english well.

  • this is the most underrated artist ive ever known, ive been searching his cds and i just cant find them

  • Sounds like a dream!

  • What chord is he playing on the 'know' when he says 'all I know' it looks like a C but it doesn't sound like it and it's the only chord that he doesn't describe. it's at 3:58.

  • @RapidPixel E major, the root chord.

  • @RapidPixel The chord is an F#7 played 24X32X. That is low to high on the strings (EBGDAe) X=muted strings. He is playing the chord keeping the same shape as the C chord that he strummed right before it. All you have to do is keep your hand in the C chord shape and just drop your middle finger down one string to the G string, and slide chord up to the 2nd fret position. Use thumb on low E playing the '2' note. Mute the D and high e sting with your fingers in the chord shape.

  • @RLaidEPeas Thanks' a lot, but actually the note I was wondering about was the one right after that one. I think it's just an E bringing you right back to the beginning. He just holds the G string with two fingers making it look like a C on the video.

  • @RapidPixel Yep, that's right, it is just a regular E chord on 'know'. This was a really cool video. Wish more artists would put stuff up like this.

  • I love this guy, he is my number one role model. I think its funny how others try to cover his songs, but Sondre is unbeatable!

    Sondre Lerche Rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • hahaha i love him. that last part when he laughs and he's like "I did the whole song" is so cute

  • He is so good! He makes up these chords that dont exist. Its funny when he would forget the lyrics.

  • the chord he plays at 5:15. mine sounds like a nightmare. :\ damn you sondre lerche! stop being amazing!

  • @MrBerenstain Em/G is definitely one of those tricky chords that you have to use in the right places for it to sound as dreamy as it does in Sondre's music. Also, he's playing a very nice guitar with new and freshly tuned strings, so that probably helps too.

  • after watching this video the first time, I just had to sign out before watching any more videos... just to comprehend how awesome this is.

  • i am in love with you!!!

  • I love him so much. I think it's great how he was into bringing in dynamics.

"Keep it down 'til the chorus 'cause then.... that's when you can go to town!"

    Perfect.

  • JESUS HES SO CUTE.

  • wooooooooooo! im from Norway! xD

  • @NsFPeAcE NORGE FTW! =D

  • He acctually show and tells how to play the song right instead of letting us try and figure it out, which noone would've probably figured out the right way to play it. Thank You Sondre!!!!

  • 0:01

  • the best guitar lesson I've ever had

  • his guitar sounds so smooth and just like, amazing!

  • youtube sucks for me, the videos are always jerky coz they take forever to load up. but Sondre is amazing

  • Hahaha, i love haw he realeases at the end that he actually spent a LOT of time doing the "how to" ... "you can cut it if you want" :D he's norwegian and he's happy :D i love him! :D

  • so sweet, when do you come in France,we need to see you if you can....

  • I don't know Sondre Lerche or this song but thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated this patiently detailed, instructional and highly entertaining lesson. I might have just become a fan, right out of the blue...

  • at 0:16 it's totally glen hansard. just saying :)

by the way..i think im in love with sondre lerche after this

  • This is so awesome! I like how he kept forgetting the lyrics, it makes it so much more natural. Also, how he gave them permission to cut it but they didn't. lol

  • I LOVE his understanding of playing acoustic guitar!!!

  • I like this

  • Wow! this is great! I searched around youtube ..nearly every live performance of this tune I could find, trying to figure out the chords , looking for a camera shot of his left hand at certain points in the song for certain chords. Now I find this video with Sondre himself thoughtfully explaining exactly what I'm looking for!! OUTSTANDING!! I was already really impressed with Sondre Lerche and this video proves that he is a mensch. Musical, charming, thoughtful and generous. Thanks!

  • I love how at 5:01 he gets really excited about the chord "and then you've got...this...i think this is a beautiful chord..." He's the kind of guy who makes you want to be creative with your music. I <3 Sondre

  • he is so SEXY! and such a good singer!

  • jesus, im really retarded when it comes to guitar after seeing this.

  • haha begynte å le når han sa Lerche.. høres ut som Lørke

  • at the end he looks a bit like Stewie from Family Guy

  • did anyone notice... 8:48 "did you ever thtop to think along the way..." HAHHAHHAHAHHAA

  • you should teach more sondre ;)

  • Phenomenal! This is an amazing video, and I think that it is very generous of Lerche to share this.

  • Hahaha, what's the next line? Oh sondre... =]

  • he kind of sounds like christopher walkins when he talks.

  • i was going to totally say that...but then i saw yer comment.

  • haha the look on his face at the end was amusing.

  • This guy is amazing. I just stumbled upon this video because I like the song. I'm so captivated by this lesson even though I know nothing about playing the guitar.

I feel like picking one up and learning all about properly applying A major sevens and playing E minors with a G in the bass that sound like a dream!!!

  • god he's so adorable

  • omg.. this song is seriousley one of the most amazing songs iv ever heard. like, all of it is perfect!!!! im learning guitar and i want this to be the first full song i can play. it seems pretty hard, but because it's so amazing, im gonna learn it. thanks for this AMAZING lesson!

  • That's the spirit!

One of the first songs I learned to play was 'Blackbird' by The Beatles because I wanted to play it SO HARD!

  • sondre er best!!!!!!!!

    BEST!!!

  • I love how all of the other 'how to videos' on Q are 4 minutes long and Sondre's is 12. He's the man haha

  • I really don't get the chords, some of them I get, but.. And. since he makes up so many and combines them it's hard to find them any places and when the camera doesn't really show how he does them, it's really hard. Anybody who can help me ?

  • which chords are giving you trouble? he tends to use lots of strange chords compared to other popular musicians. but most of them seem pretty straight forward.

  • This is such a FANTASTIC video!

    Sondre is amazing.

  • whats this osng called?

  • whoa. from 0:15 to 0:20... there you go.

  • to be surprised

  • Hooray for Sondre tweeting about this!, otherwise I would not have found this video!

    <3 Sondre Lerche

  • This is just great ! ! !

and then Sondre, when are you going to write your lyrics down in a book and sell on the open market?

That is my biggest wish <3 <3 <3

  • You can tell that the guy really loves playing music.

  • this is a great idea Q. I love the performers teaching us. (I also love Sondre's sparkly guitar strap, haha)

  • this is so cool. some chords i'm not used to but it's not bad. funny.

  • i laughed so many times. "try to pretend you're a drum kit" haahahah ?! he's so funny

  • that was AWESOME!! he should do more!
