If refugees are passing through countries of Africa in order to take boats to Europe, why can they not apply for asylum in one of those countries? That is what they are supposed to do.
Do you suggest that the EU opens its borders to everyone who wants to come? What would be the consequences of that? Probably a great many more deaths than now occur.
