  • the US wants clear voices - didn't seem to stop Hendrix nor Bob Dylan - but they had words; and emotion!

  • come to britain again tim. we love u. hourly dailt best album ever

  • tim rodgers....two words....SIMPLY BRILLIANT!

  • Possibly the most out-of-synch video I've seen on YT.

I think the reason why You Am I never cracked it overseas was Tim's voice. American's like clarity. People I know who don't like YAI have said they don't like Tim's voice, can't understand him (he's got a bit better now I think) and he's too nasaly. Even though I used to really love this band (pre-David Lane) I tend to maybe agree with this theory. Tim even eluded to it himself on Denton the other night. He's still an ok singer.

  • You listen to an album like Hourly, Daily and Tim's voice is beautiful, clear and pristine. He has since, gradually, almost completely lost his voice. But, for me, You Am I were at their peak as a band in the 90s.

  • i used to think his voice was gone but it has gradually changed and matured and is still very very good, i think his delivery has improved also. Listen to him on the new album he is sinning as well as he ever has.

  • Mate Tim's voice IS You Am I. There is something so familiar and comforting about putting on an album by the YAI and hearing that voice. Yanks can go get fucked to be honest.

  • Tims voice perfectly suits his Lyrics. Could you imagine Guy Sebastion( Aus Idol winr) writing and singing Hourly Daily with the same emotional impact. Tim sings tunes about having the arse out of your pants, feeling hungover and busted. Like many great artists

technical singing prowess has nothing to do with how good something is.

Tim is the last true Australian Rock star and the mainstream American record industry would'nt know their arseholes from their elbows when it came to music!

  • Yeah they were a sensation in OZ ay, made shit loads of albums but unless you join the commercial shit club of EMI and Sony etc you get no cred...

The majority of people just want to be sppon fed I rekkon, thats gotta be it...

  • Actually, Tim turned his back on success. They played the 1st Lollapalooza, toured with Soundgarden in the US and Lee Ronaldo from Sonic Youth produced their albums. Then they released Hourly Daily to throw a spanner in th' works. They were poised to become MASSIVE in the US after Hi Fi Way, so Tim decided to make a beat record and go in a different direction. I reckon they're all the better for it too. They're still one of my favourite home-grown bands. On ya Tim!!

  • well said. heard about the new record? sept 13th!

  • so beautiful.

  • mate check out rogers latest "the luxury of hysteria"

  • Yeah Luxurys a fucking great listen... Been listening to it 4 times a day

  • Why weren't this band an international sensation? Is it true that if your outside the exclusive US, Europe market you don't matter?
