im sorry dan i disagree with many people beleve there is a reason for the 10 commandments (for example) commandment 5 honor your mother and father
some mom and dads are not christians. i bleave that christians would want to learn the bible as writen and be able to quoit it word from word (just my idea) (God bless all christians and to be christians that read this you tube page let each one of them be strong in your word and know wright from wrong for your laws are written on our hearts amen)
commandments 5-10 show exactly how to love your fellow man.
Jesus did not do away with the law but amplified it.
it was the ceremonial law of moses nailed to cross, lamb skin, not stones.
It is not up to man to enforce any of the first 4. Look thru Daniel 2 & 7, follow kingdoms of history to find who this 'beast' is. then find out what this beasts states its 'mark' is. look at all the false doctrines & paganism entered since false teachings arose.
I propose that any man who jacks off and any woman that has her period needs to leave the city and cant come back in until their cleansing is complete. (/satire)
There's a reason we have separation of church and state.
The Feast of Unleavened bread is an expansion of the 4th commandment. the 4th commandment is also a Feast, its a weekly feast. God expands to the rest of the annual feasts He wanted them to celebrate. Unleavened bread represents being of a humble spirit to be willing to learn. Bread that is full of yeast represents prideful boasting spirit. This feast teaches us to look within ourselves, and learn to be of a humble spirit, unleavened in attitude.
The first 4 commandments show us how to love and honor God, the last 6 show us in general, how to love neighbour. The rest of the law is expanded upon these 10 giving us more detail on how these things are done on a broader scale.
Celebrating a Feast to the Lord in the right spirit indeed shows a heart to be moral for they have respect to their Creator in how they are worshipping Him with gratitude for being given such a time to rejoice before Him.
this doesn't prove He gave 3 different sets of 10 commandments. If one would study, they would understand that the 10 are a SUMMARY of the broader Law of God. He gave them the simple version FIRST, the people were too stupid to even understand the simple basic 10. God had to give more DETAILS so they wouldn't be so apt to claim ignorance. Humans can be quite stupid and dull of hearing. I don't just pick 10 to keep. they are just a basic outline of the rest of the Law.
So if these hundreds of commandments are the details of how this god wants us to behave, then the summary doesn't do away with them. chistians who don't keep kosher or practice animal sacrifice are breaking god's laws.
As the cult of christ had more success among the pagans than the jews, they started dropping many of the 600+ old testament commandments to fit in better with the contemporary scene.
Because of the people defiling the sacrificial system, Christs sacrifice destroyed the system as outlined in Hebrews. The rest of the Law, still intact. God plainly states He would write the Law in the hearts of Christians. Sadly, the majority of christians are much like their Israelite counterparts, stiffnecked and disobedient. Many indeed still keep kosher and other Laws Christs sacrifice did NOT abolish.
It is described later in other chapters. chapter 34 doesn't give all the details. One has to take THE WHOLE books, not pick and choose. I find it ironic that you pick on christians picking and choosing yet you yourself are picking and choosing bits and pieces of the Law to fight about. Why not just sit and read it as a whole and not be nit picking bits and pieces like professing christians do?
I recognize that the 'bible' is a collection of books by various authors written for various purposes. It's not surprising to me it's full of gross absurdities and contradictions.
Many christians think the whole bunch is 'inspired' by a god and therefore forms a whole, and is this 'god's word.' Any factual, scientific, or moral problems in the text reflect on this god.
I agree with you that the bible as a whole was NOT fully inspired of God. It has a combination of things HE Himself gave to write down, the rest, is based from the writers perspective. This actually helped me to better see there were NO contradictions with God in what HE actually said. It's the commentery BETWEEN what He actually said we have to be careful of because humans perspectives just don't match Gods, hence He clearly stated His ways are NOT our ways, and the bible indeed proves that
Er... no. Chapter 34 states that they were written "as they were before." And, of course, they were not.
What we have here is (a) passage of time; (b) oral writ being passed down, probably a good 50 years or so; and (c) scribal error or just blatant rewriting of the original. It's highly likely that what we call chapter 34 and chapter 20 were not even near each other until centuries later.
Fragments you know... could be wrong, but this makes more sense.
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which KEEP the COMMANDMENTS of GOD, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
laugh all you like. I see nothing funny about it. If you had the Holy Spirit it wouldn't be so funny. Only those with the Spirit understands the depth of these words.
One day, I hope and pray your eyes will be opened.
I understand how jaded you feel about religion, I have no use for much of professing christianity. I walked away from churchianity years ago, and decided to take my bible into my own hands, and really study it for what it REALLY says. Too many play games with it, and it does get pretty sickening to see all the games that is played by so many regarding it.
we have to learn to sort out the wheat from the chaff in religion, and look deeper to what God is really saying.
What are U trying to say, that the holy spirit don't have a sense of humor?? Come to think of it, I've never heard him tell a joke!. And jesus, I don't think he had a sense of humor either. And big daddy? We know damn well he doesn't have any sense of humor. All he did was kill these guys, and then those guys...
And any deity who would seek the deaths of innocent women & children...well there's just no way he had a sense of humor. But then neither did Hitler or Saddam Husein!
No one is perfect! So, I guess your saying that we are all going to hell basically. Yes, we are to try and keep the ten commandments but, since we aren't perfect God sent his only perfect son to die for everyone so that we didn't have to die and could go to be in heaven with Him. John 3:14 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall NOT perish but have everlasting light.
It doesn;t say in any of the verses from recolation that people wouldn't go to heaven if they fell and sinned. If we repent and turn to God we can go to heaven to be with him.
It's NOT what I say that is important. It's what the holy word of God says. If God and His Son say hell is for those who refuse to keep His commandments, you need to take that up with Him. If we truly believe in the Son, we would keep His commandments, and Jesus clearly stated from His own lips, if you refuse to keep the Commandments of God, there is hell to pay. To truly believe in Him, is TO BELIEVE what He taught. Many say Lord Lord, but refuse to do as He commands.
a man asked Jesus, "Master, which is the great commandment in the LAW? "
Jesus went to the Law, and quoted from it: Deu. 6: 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

I wonder if these ppl posting know that there were 3 diff. sets of the ten commandments and that god changed them?
Why would god see fit to change his mind, especially about something as firm as god's commandments to man to live by?
I always find it curious when I see scripture where god changes his mind. It doesn't make sense if he's god, he's supposed to be perfect & omniscient!

Yes, I've seen some of the various versions this god wrote and they are substantially different.
Either god's got a poor memory, or changes its mind a lot.

where does God have 3 different sets of the 10 commandments? quote them for me to see.
rusureu 2 years ago
First Tables of Stone (Exodus 20)
("which Moses didst break")
Second Tables of Stone (Exodus 34)
("the words that were on the first")
Deuteronomy 5 (slight return)
There are some 613 commandments in the Old Testament, why pick just ten out to follow and disobey the other 603 things god wants?
proudfootz 2 years ago
Here's one of the TEN from the second version:
"3. The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep in the month when the ear is on the corn."
This will sure help keep us 'moral.'

Sorry, but there's *significant* differences between the two versions of the '10 commandments.'
The second version is all about ways to practice the yahweh cult - nothing about how to treat one's fellow man.
Nothing about coveting, stealing, murder, or adultery.

Jesus clearly commanded the man to keep the commandments of God 2 be able to enter into the kingdom. Its noted also in Revelation 4 endtime believers
Revelation 12:17
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which KEEP the COMMANDMENTS of GOD, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the COMMANDMENTS of God, and the faith of Jesus.

yes, IF YOU REPENT. Jesus said plainly:
Matt. 19:17
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
and again:
Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
The problem is, much of christianity plays games with which of the 10 commandments they will obey, no heaven for them.
