It's the way you are feeding him. Tegus are popular because they actually enjoy human interactions. If you dangle food in front of him until he jumps at it like a prey item than you are going to have a more aggressive tegu.

@bballer1201 it will be good while their young but they will out grow it it in about a year or so... what i recomend is buy a decent sized tank, but when he starts out growing it... build a custom cage. look in ur area to find a custom cabinet shop...their the best bet, their could easly make a 6x3x5 ft box for you for around 100$ ask them to cut out a large hole in the roof. run down to the hardware store and pick up a steel mesh for ur lights and get 6x5 lexan or plastic sheet for the mainDoor

But, if they sell live mice as food for pets (be they snakes or cats, or even your pet child) I ASSUME you should pre-kill the mouse humanely. Just as zoos do. Ask them at the shop. Or, phone & ask any large Zoo how they feed their pythons & snakes. I assume they will tell you the mouse should be pre-killed humanely. Have you seen the comment at the end of Hollywood movies about no animal was harmed in the making of this film?

Always Pull out your Reptiles to feed them that way when you open their terrarium they are not thinking "What is this, Am I about to eat? Is that finger Food?" Instead when you put them in something like a tub to feed when you open the terrarium they think "Ok I am about to be picked up, where we going?" Oh and another thing that Teg is WAY too big for Pinkies or Rat pups. Tegus Eat almost anything they can fit in their mouths: Insects, Eggs, Birds, Rats, Snakes, ETC...
first off you never feed a tegu in his own enclosure, it makes them harder to handle also it was a pretty stupid move to open his tank and dangle a mouse in front of him, that was your fault because it looked like he missed the mouse completly and went out of his tank. Try taking him out of his tank when feeding and and dont dangle his food, have it on a plate ready when you take him out that way he doesnt bite you.
Feeding them inside of their enclosure is bad, in my experience they become quite territorial and exciteable compared with if their fed out-with their enclosure.
Scary that they move that fast though, I've never seen that before. All the ones Ive had dealings with are much more mellow than that. Weird. Its definately an Argentine too, which is even weirder. xD

The fact that an animal is bread to be SUPPLIED to people to feed to their reptiles does not mean
a) It can not suffer.
b) That it is any different to any other creature.
c) The 80% mentioned is something you plucked out of thin air.
d) Other lizard owners say they have no trouble feeding alizards warm humanely prekilled food.
e) Feeder animals are bread not to be fed, but MANUFACTURED cheaply. It's all about manufacturing a consistent product.

I've never looked for or seen what happens in a U.S.A. pet shop. But, if they sell live mice as food for pets (be they snakes or cats, or even your pet child) I ASSUME you should pre-kill the mouse humanely. Just as zoos do. Ask them at the shop. Or, phone & ask any large Zoo how they feed their pythons & snakes. I assume they will tell you the mouse should be pre-killed humanely. Have you seen the comment at the end of Hollywood movies about no animal was harmed in the making of this film?

Always Pull out your Reptiles to feed them that way when you open their terrarium they are not thinking "What is this, Am I about to eat? Is that finger Food?" Instead when you put them in something like a tub to feed when you open the terrarium they think "Ok I am about to be picked up, where we going?" Oh and another thing that Teg is WAY too big for Pinkies or Rat pups. Tegus Eat almost anything they can fit in their mouths: Insects, Eggs, Birds, Rats, Snakes, ETC...

first off you never feed a tegu in his own enclosure, it makes them harder to handle also it was a pretty stupid move to open his tank and dangle a mouse in front of him, that was your fault because it looked like he missed the mouse completly and went out of his tank. Try taking him out of his tank when feeding and and dont dangle his food, have it on a plate ready when you take him out that way he doesnt bite you.

Feeding them inside of their enclosure is bad, in my experience they become quite territorial and exciteable compared with if their fed out-with their enclosure.

they never used to censor videos and many other video websites do not sensor videos,

to get your original song back search in you tube how to download free songs it will tell you how to do it and then use windows movie maker to put it on and they have never done anything to me for that, btw awsome tegu i wanted one but got a moniter instead i didn't have enough room in my bedroom for a tegu.

Very nice video, man. I just love this species, they live in the wild here, in south of Brazil. I can see some walking in my garden and yard searching for fruits, mices, chickens and eggs :O
