Are those students required by law to let the officers inside without a warrant or show ID? Here in New Zealand our officers are a lot more respectful than what that female officer displayed. She handled it all wrong. Here an officer can only enter a house without a warrant if they have a reasonable suspicion that drugs are being smoked e.g smelling weed or seeing someone in that property do it. And we only need to provide our names. There is no reason to show ID here if you are not under arrest

(I'm a law student) I'm not sure what state they're in but in Oregon (where I live) Police are aloud to search anything if they have reasonable belief that there is criminal activity or evidence to criminal activity. It's so that if there is stuff going on that's immediate they can handle it. (I.E., loud domestic violence, or a really out of control party, especially with minors)

the problem is the law- anyone in college should be allowed to drink. simple as that. arresting kids doesn't stop them its just a revenue source to keep police employed, no different then the "war on drugs"

The guys were well within their rights to tell the cops to go away and come back with a warrant. Plus the cops have no right to force people to come out of the residence. I would have handled the situation the same way, but instead of telling everyone to leave, I would have gone inside and locked the door behind me and waited for a warrant.

@NateP0210 Oregon. See what happened was that Police received a call of an incident that didn't happen (a fight) which the closest thing I can think of was me and my friends acting all rowdy in the back deck.
6 in the morning one cop is walking in the back while me and my friends (some asleep) were chilling in the living room. The back cop WALKS right on in while he radios his partners to enter the front, I'm guessing he saw the underage girl and the cans and bottles of beer.

Holy crap, a grand on the party, yeah I'd be pissed too if the cops came, but someone had to complain. Parties don't hurt anyone, but that female cop just enjoyed shutting them down.
Some cops I know don't like shutting down parties, but have to because it's their job. At least the guy with the short hair was cooperative and respectful.
