  • You are actually Wallace Shawn in disguise, aren't you?

  • I really resent the fact that most people think this game is the best out of Soul Blazer and Gaia...this game is slow, buggy, glitchy, poorly written, and poorly translated.

  • They still have a BS button for VERY important reasons.

  • Watching this at work, "Yeah im not that great at this game... did a few test runs... IM NOT GONNA EAT VEGTABLES!" Everybody in the building now wondering whats going on

  • A funny thing about the German translation is that after throwing the vase at the woman in the kitchen, she threatens Ark with putting him in chains "again". Still one of my all-time favorite games.

  • If you look at the block below the statue head at 3:51 theres a smiley face on it. XD

  • Regarding the 46 vs 4.6 billion years issue, it's a mistranslation. The Japanese intro (which can be found on YouTube) says that Earth is "46億" years old. The character 億 means 100 million, not billion.

  • Lol I'm doing an LP of this game too. I have played this game since I was young, and I have high quality too. I would appreciate if people would check it out

  • You sound almost exactly like Peter Griffin from Family Guy, especially when you laugh.

Oh, and Terranigma is THE most beautiful game I've ever played. EVER... although it has its gameplay flaws.

    Anyway, great Let's-Plays you're doing...

  • Yeah, Terranigma showed up just as the SNES was declining. I guess Nintendo of America wanted to put more attention on the N64, so this got the shaft.

  • Everytime I hear the opening theme to Terranigma, hair all over my body stand straight.

One of the world's greatest games. Ever.

  • this game is like a mix with Chrono trigger, Zelda, Secret of mana and illusion of gaia

  • @1337Cr4ckZ0r all of the dopest games put into this

  • I wonder what HC baily does for a living? SOLDIER first class probably... =D

  • Just looking at this make me remember the ending.

  • You said the planet hadn't been around for 46 billion years, but it said 46 billion years BEFORE the planet's birth. Lol. Or did you know that already?

  • that music is not "rivalling" its a FLAWLESS VICTORY lol liem 4 life! (leim? liem?)

  • sibling to illusion of time (gaia in teh US) is this game. but i never played this one. *epic face palms*

  • Illusion of Gaia had the better music, but this one has a more coherent dialogue. They had to rush Illusion of Gaia if I remember right. That's probably why they had dialogue gaps........or it could have just been the acid trips.

  • @TheLonePantheist

    probably both

  • SPOILER ALERT:

I think that "crystal blue" is like mako in FFVII, except it's always floating around down there.

  • @handofstand Sorry, I meant the "lifestream", not "mako".

  • Yea the american releases got the better side (I mean Chrono trigger,FFIV AND FFVI?!YAY)And then the PAL regions got..this..still pretty good just not as good as our side of the deal

  • yup, this game had hands down some of the best music ever. ever.

  • Where did robotrek come in?

  • I can't see why you're complaining about this game missing an American release. You guys got Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy VI and us lot got fucked over by Square. Do you know how much they cost on ebay for us Europeans who missed out on them??????? Sure Terranigma might be a great game, but is it really a match to the afore mentioned games?

  • @widdowson91 Agreed. I think I remember something about how we got less than quarter of the PS2 titles available in the US and Japan. That gives an idea of how the other consoles librarys got released

  • @Greensmurf Yeah its ridiculous really. We should have the right to get all the games that Japan and America do? What makes us different?

  • If you're pissed out about this game not reaching you but us in the PAL region, think about all the good games you get but we don't. Sadly, we miss out on so many good games...

  • You should LP Robotrek.

    OR Brainlord.

    :0

  • Actually this was an Enix-published game, and this was released at the time when Enix and Square were still separate.

Yeah, we got chrono Trigger instead of a japan-only game but that was actually Seiken Denesetsu 3 rather than Terranigma.

  • Ark is a misbehaving Soul. Haha My second time watching this LP xD

  • This game is a work of art. A lot of the music always makes me want to cry like a little girl.

  • This game is AWESOOOOME. ^^

First played this while having a massive hangover and some scenes almost made me throw up, but I didn't care.

  • You could've forced the game to run at NTSC on snes9x, it wouldn't screw up the music.

  • Wow....enix has an unhealty addiction. Lightside darkside every time lol. I have illusions of gaia is soul blazer the series? Cause I guess I have the 2nd one should I get soulblazer?. Also THANK YOU TRILLIONS MAN I LISTENED AND WATCHED UR LP AND FIGURED OUT HOW TO BEAT THIS THNX DUDE!

  • The planet is pretending to be Giygas from earthbound!

  • CHAPTA WUN! TEH FINAL BATTLE!

  • the earth was actually made 4.7 billion years old

  • DAMN you beat me to it, I was about to LP this too.

Terranigma was my first real RPG that I played as a kid (I was about 10 when I played this), I got it as a present just before they whiped the SNES games of the shelves to make room for the N64 games.

And boy did it suck me in, it's one of my most favorite and memorable gaming expiriences ever, if not THE.

I keep remembering how I got stuck in the sneaking-castle, fooled around a lot, found FAQ out and beat the next boss in one hit XD

  • Do Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma have anything to really do with each other. Like can I play Terranigma, but never played Soul Blazer and do just fine?

  • @Flameguy42 Not directly. All you would miss are a couple minor cameo appearances from the previous games and other Quintet games. They also share the same theme of reviving the world. Other than that, each game stands perfectly well on their own.

  • @HCBailly I'm not 100% sure, but i thought i heard a reference to the sky people which are the people mentioned in soul blazer in terranigma.

If anything:Soul blazer would be the first terranigma the second and illusion of gaia the third.

  • Chapter 1! THE FINAL BATTLE! lolz :3 what was that about sims into it?

  • i think this is the first and currently only let's play of terranigma on youtube (if not on the whole internet)... i don't even think there is a video walktrough of it (you know, let's play w/o commentary)....

  • @Ponytailftw Crombiethezombie has a really good play through if you prefer not to have commentary.

  • in twilight princess if you hit the chicken enough times you get to control it for a short period of time

  • chapter 1 the final battle LOL

  • 3:54 HERETIC SCUM!!!!!!

(though it is pretty good... but still thats HERESY!!!)

  • Comment removed

  • Wow the music playing while we see the clock at begining sure sounds like a specific Inuyasha (anime) music... well the first part is. This one looks promising, will be watching. Thanks Hc

  • ARK SMASH!... pumpkins

  • also in ocarina of time if you magic spin a chicken in zoras river an there are all of asuden 67 chickens attack you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CrazyUberix yes sir you are correct. Enix met square soft and they got a crush on each other then got together and together.....they make amazing games :) ta da!

p.s. WHY THE PISS IS IT SO DAMN MUCH OF AN EFFIN EFFORT TO POST SOMETHING NOW A DAYS! holy SHIT. youtube fix your crap XD

  • that plane was the wright brother's

  • @elderdragonIce Kitty Hawk if memory serves me right.

  • so this Enix merged with Squaresoft and it's Squarenix today?

  • I played this game about 8 years ago.

God, I never finished it, but I watched the ending... It was beautiful.

  • I remember the first time I played this game like 6 years ago on an SNES emulator and I was like whoaaaaaaaa after the beginning.

  • RID THA WORLD OF THA VEGETABLES!!! But what about the vegetarians? What will they eat? Fruit? :P

  • Amazing. Also, watching this with closed captions was HILARIOUS.

  • what platform is this for? never heard of this game

  • @mattkd100 It's for Super Nintendo

  • I just barely started playing this and I already like what I see. I look forward to playing this game through! :D

btw Another great game broken up by chapters? Legend of Dragoon for PSX.

  • Chills. That soundtrack gave me CHILLS.

It was beautiful. The whole game, really... One of my favorites.

  • lol at destroy all vegetables!

  • Amazing video.

  • The last game Quintet had involvement in to my knowledge is Granstream Saga. If you play that one all the way through, you see the company name in the credits.

  • Granstream saga was awesome

  • haha oh i juste looooove your comments xD

  • You've never beaten this game, HC? You are in for a ride here. And you probably won't ever forget it.

  • Wow, you're doing Terranigma! WOW!!! I'm going to enjoy this thoroughly. Awesome choice HCBailly.

  • Yeah, 4.6 Billion years is much more likely.

Take a five minute break. Smoke if you got em. - HC, you really are a Spaceball.

  • DW4 did the chapter system well, but I wanted to rush through them to get to the main game in CH5.

    Startropics is full of win.

  • We get the last laugh getting the DS Chrono Trigger :P

Still this seems creepier than the previous 2 games

  • DESTROY ALL VEGETABLES

  • Great game! Nice choice! I've been wanting to play this for a while... this should be enough to convince me to play again.

  • lol Enix the game. You almost got me on that.Just kidding, enix is a good studio.Today it is Square Enix but still it is very good.

Looking really foward for this LP because I never played this game but I have heard that it is very very good.

  • I was thinking more BOW BEFORE DARKSIDE.

  • ahhh got to love your random humor.

  • "thats because you play with yourself at night" haha

  • Is anyone reminded of mother(game series in case you don't know) when the earth appeared?

  • OMG ITS GOKU IN SSJ FORM :O

  • I hope I'm not the only one who caught the Indiana Jones quote when you said "Son, I'm sorry, they got us." I haven't watched The Last Crusade in like 10 years lol

  • If the music in a video game rivals that of Uematsu Nobuo, you know it's good. From this first video alone, I can tell that it will be awesome throughout the game.

  • Darn those chickens! always getting people in trouble...

  • im pretty sure the reason of quintet of disappearing was cause they merge with enix and changed to square enix. if i remember correctly.

  • Maybe I *WILL* play along this time. Although, I still want to do a deity civ IV let's play and possibly an ogre battle SNES one.

  • Epic title screen

  • Finally Terranigma! I've been waiting for this!

  • What I never understood was how are you going to release Soul Blazer and The Illusion of Gaia and neglect this game? IT was really strange because folks LOVED the Illusion of Gaia. It's also a really good experience.

  • I gotta be honest - I've never played this one, but I've heard that it's a great game. I'm excited about this LP!

  • Haha! I loved 5:19-5:26!

  • Yay, Terranigma! That brings back memories. But I'm surprised the English version openly refers to "God" and the "Devil". The German version just talked about good and evil in general.

  • Dude, that's the point of an LP. It's a combination of game walkthrough and commentary video.

  • @Foxkoun I have to say it, you talk too much during your comments. Let me help you with that problem.

  • Crowning Moment of Awesome/Funny for you, HC! :D

  • @HCBailly *immediate like*

  • @Foxkoun hey if you dont want to listen to someone talk dont watch an lp watch a walkthrough. if not shut the fuck up

  • @Foxkoun If this was a walkthrough, your comment would be valid, but since this is a LET'S Play, your comment fails

  • For the next video-upload I expect high quality.

    HIIIIIGH QUALITY.

  • "...but I'll go blind"

"No, no....thats from touching yourself at night."

Great episode HCBailly, cant wait for the next installment.

  • I'm really looking forward to more episodes HC. Keep up the good work. ;)

  • Yes, that was a bad DV impression, I thought it was supposed to be Emperor Palpatine...

I played this game way back when, it's excellent. I then played Illusion of Gaia later, absolutely no recollection how far I got. I think I need to play through the whole trilogy now :P

  • YEY!, finally, you start to upload terranigma

    i see the trailer... awesome!

in this LP i'm gonna follow you in every video, i play Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia 3 months after you upload, but not this time!

    waiting #02 of Terranigma...

  • Isn't a "recluse" someone who doesn't leave the house?

  • green hair? wtf? i like blond xD

  • Oh boy, finally my 2nd best SNES game, after final fantasy V

  • DO you offer us to play on side you?

Great idea. I going to play Terranigma at the same as you do.

  • im so playin with u lol

  • You make a much better Palpatine tbh HCBailey, though thinking about it, kingdoms are good, empires are evil.

So having the voice of an evil emporer and owning a kingdom, what does this make you?

  • neutral

  • 2nd best SNES game for me, after FFVI.

    Epic music, gameplay and story.

    10/10

Didn't know it has never been released in NA, I'm really surprised lol =)

Thanks HCBailly once again to LP another legend of RPG, cheers bro.

  • You know, later in the game, the choices that you make make the game go around better.

So you better choose the "Apologize" next time, eh my liege?

  • they actually have normal houses in this game because they more than one room unlike in Illusion of Gaia

  • "challenging Eumatsu"? they are dangerous words HCbailey!

The building that the orb got trapped in reminds me of Secret of manas' waterpalace...except you die

  • Man I was waiting so long for this one, this really is my childhood hehe.

  • After this video, I want to play this jewel again. Maybe I´m going to search the cartridge. It´s somewhere in my cupboard.

  • You really got the better gem ;-) I would have loved to get Crono Trigger instead ;-) Another great job though... Keep it up!

  • Already starting out this game bad...Let me take a wild guess, this bad kid, Ark, is gonna somehow become good and be the hero of this game...AM I RIGHT???

I never played this game...or heard of it...this should be interesting...

  • @ MrMinkStar:

You're so damn right. It is like they throwed some crumbs of bread before us by releasing Secret of Mana or Evermore in Europe and then thought and then turning their back leaving us with more appetite behind.

No Secret of Mana 2, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy 1 - 6, Xenogears etc. for us. Well, I was pissed off when our German Nintendo magazines previewed an rated these blockbuster RPGs by knowing I could never get a hand on them.

  • @FinalMessenger13 we got FF1 4 and 6. but we still got screwed over

  • @pointynives

Seems to be a better deal than nothing ;).

I think SoM2 was never released in the states, too.

Hopefully, Mr. HCBailly is going to do LPs of all those games some day, would be wonderful. Especially I think of Xenogears and Legend of Mana.

  • Awesome, I'm gonna follow you on this one.

I've always wanted to play it myself, but I've waited long enough.

  • It's odd to see the main character have dialogue, even though so many RPGs have silent protagonists...

  • You're pissed off you didn't get this game?

Well I'm pissed off we didn't get Chrono Trigger, OR any of the FF's before VII until the Playstation. Some of my favorite games ever there.

And it's not like Terranigma was common around here, either. It's actually pretty darn rare.

  • 2:07 spaceballs! what a good way to start a Awsome game with a movie reference.

  • DESTROY ALL VEGETABLES! *laughs uncontrollably*

  • It's not really known what happened to Quintet. The wikipedia page basically says the status is unclear. They were a company that had close ties with Enix, and since Enix is no more....maybe the Square side of the equation had something to do with it.

Only remnants of Quintet is the staff members which some have appeared in credits of other games.

But sadly Quintet seems no more...unless they have been very quietly developing a game for like a decade, lol.

  • Who knows, it took Valve 9 years to make TF2.

  • @ShadowPhazonv2 Quintet is just sleeping until the day they are truly needed. Like King Arthur but with fewer swords and more drugs.

  • HCBailly

It's good to kno that you're playing DW4...I have an issue with Chapter 5 where you can only control your main party member...

There is a fix for that...a Game Genie code...

    YYEXVTGE

Just for u Master HCBailly :)

  • Ark sure is a delinquent whippersnapper!

  • 6:08 Lol

    Just town questing, and favors....

That's what this game's about, just that.

  • rivaling Uematsu?! Rivaling Uematsu??!! : D

    We'll see. I'm totally open minded. : P

  • Ah, I really like the music in this game too. Crysta Village is a nice song. And a number of the other songs are nice too.

  • the pixel art at 0:36 is absolutely amazing. : )

  • Chrono Trigger was sort of chapter-based, at least according to the save screen. Does Chrono Cross have it too? You offscreen saving, so I don't remember. =P

And the Mega Man Battle Network/Mega Man Star Force games aren't _technically_ chapter-based, but they certainly feel that way. They effectively are--it's just there are no names and it's not offiicial, but most guides do divide the games by chapters.

  • Yeah, Chrono Cross was also chapter based, but it only shows up on the save screen, so it's more invisible than in Terranigma or Final Fantasy Tactics.

  • @drunyon214

FF13 is also chapter-based, but it's only visible on the save screen and in the info section of the menu.

  • i'm going to play along with ya HC. also what i heard quintet went bankrupt.

  • 3:14

Actually, the SNES lasted longer than that. There were games made even as far as the end of 2000. Something I didn't thought possible until I saw it.

  • Chapter 1: The Final Battle

  • Chapter one! THE FINAL BATTLE!

  • Whoa, you made a lot more dirty jokes than you usually do, HCBailly. I like it!

  • I can already tell I am going to enjoy this LP 8D

  • well of course its 36 Billion its red and black

  • i licked final fantasy tactics chapter break down.

  • i liked. not licked. *face palm*

  • i can already tell this will be a hilarious LP. You have already made like 5 great jokes in the first minute. you r hysterical!

  • is it just me or ARE MOST THE GOOD GAMES ON SNES?

  • No. SNES has the best games out there.

  • Hmmm... if Soylent Green is People, then Crystal Blue must be...something completely different.

  • DESTORY ALL VEGTABLES!!!!!!!11

  • I KENW IT!

  • i remember finding the rom for this but can't really remember what i thought of it.

  • yay this is the game i think it is!

  • dude the beginging of this game is JUST LIKE llusion of gaia

  • YES! :D I'm so glad you're playing Terranigma already. I loved the previous two games when you did them. hehe

  • ToS:DoTNW did a good job with the whole chapter breakdown I think.

  • With all the typos, grammatical mishmash and other funny lines, this game was a pure goldmine for submitting pictures to Zany VG Quotes. :D

I suspect that this game will increment the "What's WRONG with you?!" counter at least a few times.

  • Crystal blue = Crystal meth. O_o

  • Do you think Quintet became Level 5 and made Dark Cloud, lol. Dark Cloud really is quite similar to Soul Blazer, well in some ways it is.

  • No, according to Quintet's wiki page, the members of the team are still around making games with other various development teams.

Sad to say, but Level 5 is a completely different company.

The Dark Cloud series is similar, but I'd say its closer to the Quintet's Actraiser games, as its a lot more in-depth in terms of city building.

  • my favorite of the series, and somebody is LPing it right before my eyes! awesome

  • This is going to be a blast..I've heard about this game and how good it is, but I have no idea what's going to happen..and that's awesome.

  • And hey man, Quinete made more than 3 games...don't forget Actraiser! And, uh... Robotrek...

  • I misspoke there. What I meant was that it's hard enough to make "one" really fun game, let alone three or more.

  • That's alright, I think few enough people played Robotrek to make it not have existed, anyway.

  • That "Enix" joke at the beginning and the Count joke right after, really made me laugh out loud.

Keep making these videos. They are the most well done let's plays i've seen.

  • FTW ty alot :D

  • Yeah, the US probably got the better game with CT, but I'll be eternally damned if I didn't say I liked this game far better. Seriously, you just don't see story of this caliber in games anymore and that just pisses me off.

  • The 13th hour? Oh snap, it's Persona!
