Dear Yuttadhammo, I don't know if you'll receive this comment, but I found your channel a couple of weeks ago, and I just wanted to let you know that your efforts to share videos are greatly appreciated. You serve as an inspiring example of the values that I and many others aspire to embody. Thank you for representing goodness. -- Evan
@LuxXxKiTTen Monks don't use money or any benifits of normal day life. So he can't go and buy food, so the people give him food. It's how it works in Thailand.
People give what ever they want. And thats basicly a monk's only meal for the day. :) It's karma, do good to someone who is doing good.
@LuxXxKiTTen This is a tradition of giving to the buddhist monks because it teaches communities the act of giving. The buddhist monks recieves food in order to teach people the kind act of being generous.
dear Venerable Yuttadhammo, you receiving a lot of food and how can you take home and how can you finish and how can you inside the restaurant, I am just wondering, thank you.
@EdwardGabrielsen You could get the meditation DVD...they ask for 5$ in donation to recoup the production costs...I guess they have to have a non monk person touch the money...
I admire your courage, Ven. Yuttadhammo. Don't be discouraged by some kind of negative responses you might encounter. I hope that your alms round should be successful as long as possible. I'm a little touched. Thanks a lot.
Can you explain more about what is taking place? What are the people doing when they squat down after they give you something? Are the reciting a rote prayer, or are they simply meditating, or something else?
Does the food offered go toward feeding the monks?
Criminal King Asoka became "Dhamma Asoka" after seeing a monk like this going alms round...Saadhu..saddhu..saadhu. These days Many depressed troubles superstars in holywood may go Dhamma path after seeing this..Saadhu
A practice that can easily be misunderstood as begging until one understands what some Theravada Buddhist monastics achieve in terms of disciplining their own minds to perfect peace and happiness and offering that sublime example to the world. Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!
