  • I would like to see him dress up as a drunken pirate, and fight in the Carribean. ;)

  • howcime ata doesnt teach that

  • Omg don't hate me but...

I know nothing of fighting, because I never been in a fight a day in my life. But I do like too watch it. I can only see this style as an distraction, to confuse someone. Maybe mix in some jeet kune do or taekwondo to make it count.

Where I'm from, the way people fight is literary laughable. I find myself amused when someone fights down here. So when they see someone falling all over the place they'd be like "wtf" the whole time that it would actually work.

  • @TheStolenBike if a opponent laugh and walk off what wrong with that atleast you didnt get hit

  • -Makes a Comment about martial arts

    -LOL MMA response-

    disappointed face.

  • this will never work in a street fight. your opponent will just laugh his ass off and go

  • that would be FUNNY seeing this dude trying to fight Anderson Silva like that

  • @ufcfantx Who would be dumb enough to do that? The style is meant to deceive and not for a cage match.

  • i'm learning this but i cant seem to get my balance like i try this but it cant work

  • @xxxfancymanxxx It can't work because it's one of the most difficult martial arts in existence and you don't know what the fuck you're doing...

  • @Skullomaniaaaa but i wont give up and im mean NEVER i do it every day and its still very hard but i keep trying

  • and that is drunken boxing *falls over* lol awesome shit man

  • Man, people need try things before they make bad comments on them....

  • I beganmy first day of drunken fist training today.

  • I bet he'll finish in 3 min in the bar fight.

  • What is the name of the move he uses at 1:16 to get up??

  • How could you dislike this? Even if you don't think it works, it's still pretty cool. It took this guy a lot of time to learn this and try to master it. Show some respect. :/

  • Thumbs up if you're Asian

  • @mlntyphresh I bet you get straight As

  • I have studied and been trained in Drunken Fist, and its the most fun thing to do in random places

  • can i just have sex with this series of videos seriously

  • @DaddyMcFatherton Unfortunately, a common misconception is the idea that Zui Quan (Drunken Fist) is actually supposed to be done drunk. The idea is not to be drunk, so that you can always retain your balance.

  • @DoomscytheHarvester Unless you are doing the traditional 18 forms... 9 semi-sober and 9 sober. (Southern 8 drunken immortals)

  • I like drunken and capoeria....completely different styles but if I studied, I would definitely learn drunken.

  • @MindenLunatic I've learned a few basics, but my sifu won't let us really learn until we're 21 and have been drunk. He says you just can't get how to be loose and limber like that without getting completely smashed at some point. I know what I'm doing in 2 years, 2 months, and 8 days.

  • I wanna learn this just because it looks fun.

  • 10 people cant fight

  • @bakerejoh hahaha

  • @bakerejoh nah the best style is

    shut the fuck up jitsu

    you should learn

  • I heard when you do drunken boxing, your dick gets bigger.

  • @brybry19871987 who told you that ...your boyfriend lol

  • I don't care what you say about this style. That dude has to be in fantastic shape to do those moves.

  • I wanna drink with this guy!!

  • Drunken Boxing is just as useless as Capoeira but atleast they're entertaining to watch.

  • @bloodsoldierZ ...lets say you push this guy to the ground ...I think that would be a big mistake since this whole fighting style is designed around balance

  • 10 people were REALLY drunk and missed the like button

  • winning

  • @parkourjames99 LOL and also this is not even a real fight LOL wow you are fail

  • @parkourjames99 Lol... wushu... another set of useless acrobatics.... how does one prove anything by fighting wushu. Even the chinese government ponders at the decline of chinese martial arts and how weak it has become. Fail troll is fail, blocked

  • @parkourjames99 lol find one video drunken boxing proves itself ONE

  • @parkourjames99 Did you even watch the video? There is not one but three drunken master practitioners. Obviously they did not match amateur drunken boxing practitioners against karate black belts. They took 3 experts in the both field and made them fight against each other. Also that is the worst analogy I have heard in my life. Seriously think before you state something.

  • @ZixacunX i saw that match....i felt bad for the drunken boxers

  • thumbs up if you think jackie chan wen you watch this

  • i wonder how much he charged for a lesson

  • just dont see marital arts winning a fight outside one with rules and tournament constraints..like street fights

  • WoW I cant believe both thumbs up are people who think 'kung fu' is strong LMAO watch this video /watch?v=ihvzEvLkjsc&feature=player_embedded where drunken boxing gets crushed

  • @ZixacunX There's no strong style, only strong martial artists.

  • Welcome to Youtube, where people who have probably never even been in a fight before are experts on every fighting style in existence. -_-

  • @devilledevil98 Well, they are strengthened by watching UFC. They magically pick up years of martial training through watching years of TV. They also cross train by watching WWE.

  • @buddy2000529 Maybe they're all autistic like Zen from the movie Chocolate :o

  • @buddy2000529 Watching WWE wrestling teaches you about as much about real fighting as an episode of DBZ.

Don't get me wrong; I respect them for their athletic ability and their dedication to their craft. However, they're called 'sports ENTERTAINMENT' for a reason.

  • @devilledevil98 lmfao so fckin tru...

  • @bootleggent LOL I know right?

  • @devilledevil98 Depends on what you mean by 'fight'. If you mean sparring, then that is justified. But if you mean an actual brawl, just know that even a martial artist like Jet Li has never been in a real fight before, nor does he want to, because martial arts isn't about fighting, but more about self-defense, and the joy of the sport

  • @RyanLuckyNinko My point is most people argue and talk shit in the comments when most of them don't know the first thing about martial arts.

  • drunken boxing is cool

  • My favorite martial art, it's a variant of Kung Fu, known as Zui Quan, for those who said it's not serious....

  • Drunken boxing is the best style if you want to get your ass whooped the fastest.

  • Lol now NO ONE will be able to take me on in a bar brawl!! lol... But seriously, this guy even SOUNDS like an anime character

  • At 1:16 He spins up to his feet. Is there a name for that method of getting up from the ground?

  • i love this style

    its a crazy martial art

    the flexibility intrigues me

  • I really hope no one actually thinks this is a suitable martial art for realistic application. Also to the comments who recieved thumbs up, martial arts (art of war) are intended for combat by definition.

  • Definitely not fucking with this guy, drunk or otherwise

  • This guy needs to go to some AA meetings..

  • chinsese martial arts>mma/ufc:Poor excuse for martil artist

im 20 years old and have been studing martial arts since 1996

  • the guy twitching and spazzing in the video sounds like Kevin in Ben 10.

  • drunken capoeira boxing......now that would be some cool shit.....even if it is just for show

  • @zodiactheory there is some capoeira in drunken boxing lol

  • was he on deadliest warrior? with the ming warriors?

  • @cwmike08 I dont think its the same guy but he does look alot like him lol!

  • training process: learn muay thai - drink mai tai - fight

  • Check out 'kyokushin vs drunken kung fu' to see how much bullshit this is! Stop believing "blackbelt theater".

  • @talon115 its not bullshit, it just depends on the person's expertise in the art. also, some styles just don't work well against other styles. Finally, I think some styles exist better merely as an artform, as the only drunken boxing I could see working out exceptionally well is the kind done by someone who's mastered it completely.

  • @pinkypromise118 Bullshit! "pulls off your socks" =o

  • @talon115 watch?v=ZVJUZXREi34

  • @talon115 That was a fight between two STUDENTS. I'm not saying Drunken Boxing is better than Kyokushin Karate, but seriously, that was 1 fight. Pinkypromise was spot on too.

  • what uniform is that he wears for drunken boxing?

  • 1:18 Epic battle cry lol

  • I'll like to use this fighting style against my friend's boxing which he used strength against me...someone flexibiity can easily outwit your opponent attacks. So you're basically wild and unpredictability thinking your opponent having the chance to win but fail =)

  • no way chakie chain made this style of fighting wow he is a legend

  • @retaredjoe They never said he made drunken boxing. They said he made it famous from his Legend of Drunken Master movies.

  • well shit man! i just wanna kick ass when drunk off my ass!

  • I can't find a single video of drunken style being effective as a martial art. If someone could disprove my impression that this is really interpretive dance please respond

  • What about Flying Weasel Fist style?

  • Like Capoeira

  • looks awesome i knew it existed in the movie drunken master but i didnt know it existed for real lol...

  • style would put the opponent beaten into defeat with broken bones. this style teaches how to confuse your opponent and then kill them any means how in order to achieve victory

  • @thunder7465

Flexibility - you can easily avoid / deflect your opponents attack, you can fight on your feet or on the floor... Unpredictability - confusing your opponent of your next move... And yes it is very effective, I believe you. Now where can I take lessons?! Been wanting to learn this since I saw Legend of the Drunken Master. haha

  • i am a student of drunken boxing, to any out there that thinks this style is weak in real fights you are dead wrong. this style is all about misleading your opponent into opening themselves up for pain. unlike other styles, this style has almost no rules to where you strike on the body. i have fought and defeated bjj and muay tai fighters. this style is deadly, you are tought to strike areas like knee caps, biceps, throat, and even groan. in a real fight there are no rules, in a real fight this

  • @thunder7465 LOL!!!!!!!!!!

  • im trying to learn this so bad im very good with martial arts and very quick and fast and i dont know why butthis style so amazing and gourgestand brillent i wanna learn t very bad

  • Hmm I'll have the drunken boxing without the boxing. Ya!!! lol, I love this fighting style. Its so crazy. Always used that old drunken boxer guy in Dead or Alive 3!

  • If you tried to perform Zui Quan techniques while actually intoxicated, you would hurt yourself.

  • It takes many many years to master this. It's not for everyone because you need to be very athletic in the first place. The key is deception, balance, a good core, and strong wrists.

  • omfg i want lessons now!!!

  • @electroxjunkie Where in the world did you get that idea?

  • damn im in mma and i dont think i could move that fast hes awsome

  • i've never seen a drunk guy do a backflip hahha

the drunken boxxing in Drunken MAster is badass but maybe that's just becauess i don't know much about kung fu

  • Ive never heard of this style, it looks interesting. I would seriously love to have an outfit like the one the has.

  • whats this episode/documentary called?

  • COOL XD

  • this dude is damn good, wonder who is teacher is ?

  • excellent.

  • I would like to learn drunken boxing, i find that each move is smooth and rythmic

  • i like the style but he seems cocky

  • I've watched this special so many times - it's a beautiful thing to see this kind of skill in motion!

  • LOL thats awesome! I love when he falls over.

  • when did this air?!!?!?!?? did i miss it?

  • @miscreantV0n *checks video date* No, if you are quick you might still be able to catch part of it!

  • @MijnZagen fo sho lolz

  • great am already drunk! now i just need to learn the boxing part : D : D

  • Which episode is this from?

  • whats his name? alex what?

  • alex huynh

  • this guy looks like he could actually use this in a street fight....bad ass.

  • I would not mind learning this, I myself am a martial artist and must say that of all main martial styles, kung fu, is the most beautiful and versatile.

  • Gotta be one of the coolest fighting styles out there.

  • Awesome...it was told to me by a Kung-fu Sifu, the difference between Kung-fu and Karate. Karate teaches self-defense...Kung-fu teaches how to kick ass!

  • ALEX!!!!

  • this just looks awsome. i dont care if its bad or anything. :D

  • Another reason you don't see the more exotic fighting styles doing well in organized tournament fighting is that they were not intended for organized tournament fighting. They were intended to kill and opponent and keep you from being killed in return.

I see the argument made against styles like this so much because of their poor showing in stuff like UFC, but I think those complaints (sometimes) miss the point.

  • @EmperorofCartoons You couldn't kill a one eyed, clubbed foot, retard with "drunken kung fu.

  • @EmperorofCartoons But if you can't beat a boxer in the ring with 'drunken monkey kung fu...what makes you think that you would be able to "kill" a drugged up street thug? Your arguement doesn't hold up.

  • @EmperorofCartoons muay thai was meant for killing... but it is used in MMA i wonder why... karate also gets used sometimes. /watch?v=ihvzEvLkjsc&feature=player_embedded kung fu is just a joke if you think otherwise /watch?v=cVNOU8gzOWs&feature=player_embedded watch these two 'kung fu' masters battle it out very SKILLED

  • @ZixacunX actually, Muay Thai was made for competitive fighting :x Muay Boran was made for killing, then dumbed down into modern Muay Thai.

  • @EmperorofCartoons UFC/MMA is barely "martial arts" anyhow its more like US kickboxing & Grappling & holds. I find it to be far too "pop culture" The Ken Shamrock - Bas Rutten days are long past. it's All these 5 year olds running around in UFC gear... Better off to watch a DVD of anything rather than UFC.

  • @shaolinwisdom I totally agree. All the money, glitz, and restrictive rules have turned ever bout into a battle of glamor, ego, and the same boring, predictable fighting styles.

  • I think some people are missing the point of drunken boxing. It has a lot to do with deception but not necessarily people thinking you are actually drunk. It has to do with making it hard for your opponent to predict your moves. The falling is also very important and frankly overlooked. If you can't fall in a fight, you are going to get hurt. If you can't fight from the ground you are going to lose. Drunken boxing is a stylized martial art, guess what, like any other martial art.

  • @stabin42 Frankly, this is one of the greatest things I've ever read about martial arts.

  • @JesusaloneisLord Haha thanks for the support!

  • @stabin42 exactly.

  • @stabin42 i do drunken boxing and i couldnt agree more, falling helps take hits , use speed and help with balance and dodges

  • @stabin42 lmao drunken boxing doesnt work... /watch?v=ihvzEvLkjsc&feature=player_embedded

  • heh vashcat i know what u mean but there is actualy a diferents between drunken fist(8 drunken gods) and druken boxing( drunken kung fu) and the drunken fist is way better!

  • Find your center? More like find your sa ke

  • This is one style that I want to learn really badly. But I don't know if they teach it in the ACT or anywhere in australia

  • @sn66sean i said the same thing....but the kung fu nerds thumbs downed my comment into oblivion

  • Like i said to sean, in the demonstration it seems lame, and in practicality, only a select few situations would make sense to fall like that as a lure. I think the main purpose of "falling' like that in the video was to demonstrate aspects of deception and stuff, and its not a technique used very often in fighting situations with drunken boxing. i.e. the many tumbles and turns you see him perform would not normally be used, but things like the staggering around would.

  • I agree it does seem like a lame thing in this demonstration, but you have to realise he wouldn't perform it the same way in a fight. He'd just stumble and fall while close to you, so there wouldn't be a long wait between you going for him and him falling. It would be more convincing, and styles which branch of drunken boxing (i.e. drunken monkey) focus on attacking from the ground, leaping up with force, etc... So don't think much of yourself.

  • @majorkoolness since there is no video evidence of this style actually working against fighters or for that matter working better than other more common arts, one has to use his rationale logic to judge it. to me, those movements just don't seem logical or practical in a fight. I find that there are too many unnecessary movements.

  • The unnecessary movements you mention are what the style is about. What you're saying is just like saying since we don't see Bruce Lee's style working against real fighters, then Bruce Lee's style is completely useless, which is obviously untrue. Secondly, you have to realise that drunken boxing is part of the chinese kungfu, (as demonstrated in earlier sections of this video), and uses all the chinese kungfu, but with deception, making it harder for opponents to predict what you'll do.

  • @majorkoolness and here is where individual people draw the line. when i see bruce lee do a demonstration or show techniques, i see something thats viable, effective and real. when i see drunken boxing, i see something unrealistic, unnecessary and illogical. just look at the drunken boxing demonstrations. i watched that drunken boxing sparring match vs the kyokushin karate guy. and it only reinforced my views about it.

  • That video? I have also watched it previously, and have to say, in agreeing with you, that the Drunken Boxing representative is complete trash. But this is because he has not tried to cover the concepts of drunken boxing (he moves stiffly instead of soft and fluidly, he does not attempt any ways to get closer to his opponent, the only thing really related to drunken boxing that he does is the fists. This is also the reason why i ask you not to compare STYLES but practitioners instead.

  • @majorkoolness there are infact a lot of bullshit styles out there. just look at that kia master who can supposedly hurt you by not even touching you. either drunken boxing is not very effective, or it is not the fighting style it once use to be. either way, i'd much rather do something that i see as viable. you can't even find sparring videos where the drunken style does well. all you have are lame demonstrations where the guy is doing ritualistic dance.

  • @majorkoolness Bruce Lee's style DOES work against real fighters. It's entire basis is on efficiency and real-world application. He started with Wing Chun, which is already a very effective martial art in the hands of a skilled fighter, and just refined it to it's purest, most efficient, combining it with what he found effective from other martial arts.

  • @Bttscks I don't see where I've said Bruce Lee's style is ineffective against other fighters... In future please read posts properly before replying to them.

  • Also, you've ignored what i sad in my previous comment, which is the fact that this video, is not for direct fighting (save sparring as samples), but its to demonstrate some of its principles. In a real fight, you would find it difficult to hit an opponent who seems off balance all the time but can still change his centre of balance extremely rapidly, and with a great deal of control.

And final thing, don't compare martial arts with each other, i.e. "this style is better than drunken boxing".

  • i watched it 10 or 20 times and i still cant stop watching it xD awesome ^^

  • @dawnninjawolf

Not necessarily. The basis of the form is to be able to fight while being intoxicated OR mimicking it. While being taught at first, the outlines of the form are taught while sober usually so that those studying it can have a firm grasp on it. The basics are usually taught this way. However, you are correct. It is performed much better while within the influence. The alcohol loosens up the body, makes it nimble and severely heightens the resistance to pain.

  • Thank you I gathered as much.

  • Uh... no. Both of you are wrong, Drunken Fist techniques are practically impossible to perform while intoxicated. The style needs a lot of coordination, which you lose while drunk. Trying to fight with Drunken Fist while actually drunk will probably end up in you hurting yourself very badly.

  • Twitchy, drunken boxing has NO alcohol consumption. It has nothing to do with increasing your pain resistance (despite what Jackie Chan films may show), its purely mimicking, as Jalathas said. Also, as he said, trying any of these while truly drunk would end up in self injury. Ever tried a backflip when you can't stand up straight?

Please also leat dawnninjawolf know about this, he obviously has no clue what he's talking about.

  • Alcohol does not make your body nimble. That nimbleness comes from not being drunk, the right training, and from your swaying in PRETENDING to be drunk. And like i said to dawnninjawolf, the whole idea is not to get hit and feel less pain, its to not get hit at all.

  • If you have a problem with alcoholism this art is not for you.

  • You idiot, you know nothing. First off, Alex Huynh (the practitioner in the vid) is the best drunken boxing master now, since Jackie Chan has retired from practicing it.

Second, its not based of a monk who made the art, its from the eight immortal drunks, or a deceptive extension of chinese kungfu.

The point is not to get hit and not feel it, the point is to not get hit at all, by using the appearance of being drunk to make your opponent misjudge.

    Idiot...

  • i wish when i got drunk i have this ability is going to be so cool

  • PRETTY COOL

  • You think I just fell but it's just a set-up for me to kick your ass hahaha I love it.

  • you wont learn it in the us anywhere local most likely this atyle is very taboo to most fighters and is extremely difficult because you need strong joints and fingers. that and it is just hard to mimic the movements of a drunkard and be so skilled. but if you can master it then your amazing this style is very deceptive and hard to combat

  • honestly isn't there anywhere i can get an instructional video or something?

  • i want to learn this hella bad lol this style is awesome

  • i but you become pretty good at dodging and evading if you practice drunken boxing, but this style would never do well in a tournament such as K1 or whatever, you would get your butt kicked

  • NICE :D

  • the move where he spins to get up, whats that move called?
