My dog has special powers, when trained dogs come and attack him, he says ," hey boys,..wait a minute,..you're Rhodesians right?

Ok now lets reason a bit,..if you want to keep your ridges turn arround and bounce. or We can do the big dog thing and its bye bye ridge, and no love from the boss 'cause you'll be ridgeless and therefor no more lovegettin south africans,..and the trained dogs will take off, wise huh?

Mine puppy is the same puppy only without rigde.It is cold ridgelees,some of them dont hawe ridge but it is not sickness it is genetic thing.Regards every Rodesian puppy fun!:)

Well in reallity its a bit dumber and more stupid than you can imagine...They breed dogs , they are good as they are, but just for the ridge, lets say line across the back..

Hitler had simmilar plans with people, a breeding program with only and just a couple of people and certan looks that are not important at all,..thats right , its called inbreeding.

But stupid people and a very narrow minded simple view, think its the other way arround!

They are breeding the dogs , just for a stripe or line on their backs,..some people , who really dont have a clue and are part of the Rhodesian community have the opinion that the ones with a ridge are better hunters than the ones without a ridge!

Thats funny huh...its a shame people are inbreeding healthy dogs appart.

@theashleigh14 They're pretty good with other breeds. I had my first RR when I was like 6 or 7. He gets along along great with our cousins chocolate lab. Also, when we're walking them and they come across other breeds they're very gentle. They're also good with small breeds. My grandparents had a daschund and they got along well. :) Hope that helps

My dog recently passed away and im thinking about getting a RR puppie. Do they need anything special. i have a

1. meduim/large backyard

2.Gates

3.Hardwood floor

4.Couch do i meat the requirements

Well, RR likes to run a lot so a large backyard is nice. Our puppie chewed on a couch, so now we have new furniture! haha! So you have to be careful with that. But after all RR are very nice dogs, gentle character and very playful.

Get a Lab mate, RR can be dangerous if you dont know what you are doing. Need alot of training.

Any dog is dangerous with idiot owners. Ridgebacks can be extremely agressive, so can any other breed. I run 7 miles every am. My ridgeback gets worked out and interacts with people and other dogs. Get my point?

Yes my point exactly. I have a ridgeback and i excercise him and constantly work on his agility and obedience and is an Australia Champion in the show ring. My answer was to the boy who is about to turn 12. I do not think he will have the discipline to control a Ridgback. Get my point?

If you beleive Ridgbacks are dangerous, the last thing you need is a Ridgeback. Ridgebacks will protect anyone they are comfortable with with their lives. They love children. I will never own another breed. Just my opinion right? Life is great, have fun.

I know Ridgeback i breed them, In fact i have 7 Adults and 14 puppies if you want another one. i can even forward you a picture if you really want. All i was saying that in the hands of a 12 year old first time dog owner a Rhodesian Ridgeback is POTENTIALLY dangerours.

if you get a lab do not overfeed him and makesure he gets walked enough otherwise he will get obese, labs are very prone to getting obese

its up to you.rr are very loyal and smart dogs but need vigorous excersize at least 1-2 hours a day. Obedience training must start at around puppy hood.

If you do not have a lot of room, do NOT get a Ridgeback or anything with Ridgeback in it. They need TONS of room. And they don't get to big, they just have a big attitude, and run a lot.
