  • Typical dislike post... "84 people aren't free" =S

  • The 90's were some decade. PARTY !..

  • shooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww do kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlhoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And I've just hit 50 and if this were released in the spirit of my youth it would be I don't give a monkeys uncle what you think; I'm me I'm now I know thats all...............

  • @harty2912 Right on.

  • Hell yeah this was the wake up tune on 99.1 WHFS in Washington Dc.

  • A great 90's song.

  • It was a great song and gave the band short term success but also killed who the Soup Dragons really were.

  • Junior Reed ... cool enough to toast for the Soup Dragons AND for Wu Tang!!

  • yep, the rolling stones sure write good songs!

  • Best tune found this evening- loved it then & still rate it!

  • OMG i have gone back in time to the hippy type love scene of the 90's. The likes of The Charlatans and Inspiral Carpets are etched in my mind.

  • i was 19 when this was out what a year that was!!!!! LOVE IT

  • this is fucking mental, reggae + britpop = genius

  • free 2 b yourself free 2 move everywhere free 2 float any time free 2 have your own opinion free 2 b something different free 2 b a misfit free of the observer free 2 b over heterosexual+

  • 1990, what a good and hot year in leeds, got tanned up to fook

  • love this big time ,,back in raffles club in jersey ,,cos im FREE , to be where i chose ,,lol,,

  • to fuzzplugjones-you realise this song was written by millionaires and recorded by guys who were living on and off the Dole. The irony is only post modern.

  • LSD!

  • Scottish

  • my old band NOW did a wicked version of this back in the day before we all got boring and old hahaha

  • there best song was mother universe.

  • LEMMY would like this........

  • I was 12 and this blew my mind even though I couldn't understand English back then!

  • Many people don't know that this is.... a Rolling Stones cover..

  • 90's Pop. Amazing.

  • From Bellshill!

  • i had this song on y itunes about 2 years ago and loved it but lost. forgot about it.

  • i'm 453 and i love this shit! what difference does age make?

  • @missvivers400m I dont know but i'm only 4 months old and i like this ! Okay i leave now t_t

  • de wuevosssssssssssss

  • was 19 going on 20 in 90 and we danced all night, with some uppers

  • Didn't Junior Reid do the toasting on this track?

  • Found this on popdose's list of 100 greatest cover songs. I'm a major Stones fan and I hadn't heard the Soup Dragons much before; I like it a lot. The cover definitely adds in the funk and the backup singers in the chorus are perfect. Nice stuff. Stones covers seem best when they don't try and match the dirty and grungy feel of classic Stones and just make the song work for them. This one definitely fits!

  • this song is permanently stick in my head because of how many times i watched ninja turtle 2 when i was a kid. but stepkids was a good movie, or big girls dont cry...they get even, for that matter

  • i remember them when they were a psychobilly band in the mid 80's!

  • 79 people aren´t free!!!

  • nice to be free! dnt be afriad!.....govern yourself....in love truth understandin & compassion the highest law!!

  • Classic tune - fantastic!

  • Bloody fantastic... the ending is a bit unexpected because it doesn't return to the 'love me, hold me' structure... and that trumpet(?) noise that goes throughout the ending just makes me want to swear with excitement. I just remember this coming out when I was six.

  • tengo 18 años,pero me siento orgulloso de que cuando era pequeña existiera musica de calidad, lastima que las nuevas generaciones no vean ya cosas como estas, aun me acuerdo cuando tenia 5 años y ver estos videos en la MTV.

  • The guitarist is a maths lecturer now at edinburgh university haha!

  • Soooo reminds me of good times

  • @RFCRECORDBREAKERS

I'm free was an early stones hit in about 63/64.

  • Gotta love Junior Reid and his epic dance <3

  • Does anyone realise this is a stones cover?

  • @JurrassicParrot

I've never heard anyone say this before, what song is it a cover of?

  • If this song was made today, the hook would be "I'm free to demand that the government finance my desires to do what I want any old time."

  • @fuzzplugjones too true...sadly!!

  • @fuzzplugjones You're free to say stupid things.

  • @fuzzplugjones You're free to be a complete retard, which is evidently being taken advantaged by you as evidenced with your sentence. Along with 7 others who decided to thumb you up, stupid cunt.

  • @fuzzplugjones Could you assholes refrain from referencing your shitty politics in everything you do? Seriously, this is -music-. The very last thing that needs your controversial political jabber.

  • great times !!!!

  • what a time to be alive

  • "I'm Free" .

  • 76 people are in prison.

  • fkn classic!!

  • @somejackball

    shit yeahhhhhhh!!!!

    Say no to drugs kids.

  • boywhoparties...it was the best years going. good taste you got man.

  • Was good jams in my teen years. 31 has come so fast. The Real World is a lie mmmkay kids.

  • Religious experiences are fascinating - I like it!

  • PURE!

  • God, 41 in few weeks.....if only i could rewind 23years......never mind i got to live it. It was sooooo much fun! with or without the rizzla full of the good stuff but that did help!!

  • Ive never smoked in my life, but listening to this makes me want to light up a rizzla full of the good stuff.

  • OMG This is the first time I'm seeing this vid! :)

  • I went to watch these at the Ritz in Manchester in the 90's. cracking!!! i also watched The Charlatans at the Acadamy. Them were the days!

  • The lead singer looks like Mark on Big Brother on channel five! (UK)

  • if u can remember this - you weren't there !

  • In time the 90s will be the new 60s. Drugs, sex, mint music. But in the North. It will take 30 years of X Factor dross to realize it. I was there, I was off my face mate. I had sex with loads of girls and took vanloads of drugs. It was awesome. Thank you God for my life. What a mint life.

  • i love the randum jamakin dude

  • Oh the irony - the video seems to be ripped from Hard Rock Cafe. In the 90's, HRC would never play this, and this would never contend to be 'Hard Rock'.

  • 71 people aren't free

  • o 33 again love this !!!!!!!

  • I like the black guys bit in this where he goes on about his granddaddy.

  • My hubby said he used to listen to this back in the days, and be as stoned as a cunt lol

  • this takes me back figured that i evntualy finaly grasped the true concept of this 3 business3

  • awesome!! love the wah-guitar break, vocals, drum beat, bass, and of course Junior Reid!

  • ickle harsh

  • Great Song !

  • I´m Freeeee

    Esaaaa es \m/

  • @Blogdeunoperado - Jagger/Richards, McCartney/Lennon and may other music icons wrote songs for other bands over the past 40 odd years...doesn't mean they ever intended on recording those songs themselves...just that songwriting for others was and is a very lucrative side business for music legends...as is session recordings for other bands.

  • TIM

  • yeah this is a Jagger/Richards song that you guys ruined

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • Do any of you guys realise this is actually a cover song?

  • This was the first CD I ever owned.

  • wannab twats. charlatans, inspiral carpets, roses,

  • @bohsblur too rite MADCHESTER... :-)

  • @bohsblur How are soup dragons wannabes?

  • @bohsblur Wannabe twats? One word C86, if you dont know then it tells me everything I need to know about you

  • I'm 18 and I love this shit. Wish I could have been my age now back in the 90s

  • @boywhoparties It was fun dude. alot of fun

  • @boywhoparties I was 16 or 17 back when this was out, yeah it was a great time

  • @boywhoparties you're free to do what you want, any old time

  • To the guy that said,"All hail the 90s" YOU ARE SOOO RIGHT! THAT was my decade!(especially the early 90s)It was everything to me-I blossomed in that decade!(and I was in my 30s!)

  • Comment removed

  • The music scene was so good back then, what the Hells happened?

  • Sitting here on Arannmore island, Donegal, with the guitarist. He still won't buy a pint!!

  • Rupert Murdoch's Theme Tune (used to be ...)

  • Another great tune from the 90s. My era, and forever in my consciousness an inspiring decade of music. Let's be honest though, there's good and bad music no matter what decade it's from. However I would absolutely defend my opinion that the 90s were the LAST decade where POP WAS STILL WORTH LISTENING TO. Since then it has been taken over by the major labels who have infested the charts with crap. But the late-80s / early 90s were full of arty, inspired hits like this. 'AVIN IT!

  • christ this is loud!

  • @davidsan01 turn down speakers for success

  • @16fcali no shit sherlock.

  • @davidsan01 I LOVE TO HELP

  • marie juana !! :D

  • Perfektna pesma, ritam otkida.

  • Great song, but by god is it a Primal Scream rip off.

  • @lovelyjmb dont you mean the Rolling Stones?

  • @lovelyjmb didnt this come out before 'movin on up'? And primal scream apart from that were a bit bland. I seem to remember the soupdragons were pretty popular when Bobby Gillespie was still in the jesus and mary chain...

  • class tune loved the 90z proud to av peaked in it..happy memories...

  • Iknow some of you kids knock down The Rolling Sones but they wrote this song along with 'Bettersweet Symphony'-- The Verve

  • @juliet1978ful

bittersweet symphony was sampled from orchestral bit of a RS cover that were never actually penned or recorded by RS. The Verve honestly believed them to be copywrite free. The verve got their pants sued off and the actually composer of those notes has gone unrecognized and uncompensated too. I don't blame Mick ou Keith for having evil people look after their affairs. Just a shitty thing is all.

  • Another KROQ classic! Sure the 90's was great!. I'm looking for a song (maybe The Verve) That begins with a motorcycle gang like 'Rebel without a cause' saying "I wanna get real High"... goes to melody. Does anyone Know that Song? If so post it here.

  • @juliet1978ful I think it's "Loaded" by Primal Scream, is this it? v=YoeMhlkeeLE

  • @Gideon1928

this is a Rolling Stones original mate cracking cover though and a great album

  • great tune

  • Big Girls Dont Cry, They Get Even!

  • 67 dislikes are fans of roaring silence - thanks for the POST man !

  • Just trying to comb my hair into a center parting right now. i love this shizzle!

  • I feel like smoking a spliff whenever I hear this, and Ive never even smoked the sweet mary jane in my life!

  • it reminds me of the summer that year...wearing my james tees, knocin about with my mates, doing 'naughty' things lol, and raving across the village pond thinkin i could walk on water :D good times :)

  • Agree to melodsys. late 80's early 90's best music ever. back then you needed this thing called talent to actually make it. now all you need is a model and autotune.

  • I'm free, baby! :D

  • Awesome song!!! Brings back so many great memories!

  • And not forgetting that it just takes you back to the reckless days, man!!!!

  • @ragingbasehead79 really really really want them reckless days back again............

  • @ragingbasehead79 raging base head!I will give you thumbs up for that name!brilliant!

  • Can someone help me out.. i knew this song in the early 90's, but much "heavier" and quicker, more like the sound of EMF... anyone knows who that could have been? This version I didn't even know ...

  • I still own this on LP record and I don't even own a record player anymore!

  • I think this kind of music is from the transition 80's - 90's ?

  • Super good song rhythm and music that breaks.

  • SOUP DRAGONS, THE STONE ROSES, JESUS JONES, EMF, LUSH, ELASTICA, REPUBLICA = BEATLES + ROLLING STONES + PIXIES + NIRVANA ( GRUNGE )

:) THEY ALL SOUND THE SAME

THEIR SHORT OF SOUNDING LIKE THE WHO

  • the soup dragons ripped off the rolling stones :) damm it

it doesnt get any better than this

IM FREE TO RIP OFF THE STONES , ANY OLD TIME EEEEEE

  • i like it baby ?????

  • i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theoryhas gone all around the world

  • Saw them play on the campus of The University of Texas back in 90-90. Awesome.

  • thats RIGHT! I gotta be free! 90'ssssssssssss...don't tie me down!

  • Temazo!

  • I'm on night shift, and this is making me smile - despite the fact that the fuckwit I'm working with is watching a murder thingy on the I-player really loud to spoil the fun.

    Ah well..............

  • Hmmm... this has "let's try and sound like the Happy Mondays" written on it. The reggae overdub is pointless.

  • Word

  • 90's KIDS YEAH! After the cultural famine that was the 80's we remade hippie out of dregs left in the bottom of old cups from yesterdays party and old shoelaces!

  • @melodsys Hey those British Dance Bands of the 80s are the Bomb.

  • ALL HAIL THE 90's BEST DECADE FOR MUSIC PERIOD! punk and metal had a bastard and named it grunge, rock came back, alternative was actually ALT, rap figured out how to make good music too, rave brought techno into flower, bluegrass!, george clintons voice not fried yet from hitting broken stems, hippie still going strong, MMW resurrected jazz from the dead.. Whatever you were into you really couldnt go wrong....

  • @melodsys - Exactly!! there were the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's....but what are the zeros (00's) what music will make people say "wow, I'm glad I was there!"??? I think music that hits the soul and has definite meaning skipped a generation/decade and is now taking off again in the 10's!!

  • @melodsys A-freakin-Men....
