That's my Big Brother Sonship Theus, The Baddest & Anointed Drummer to hit planet earth!!! Sonship you will always be in my heart!!! I am so proud that the Lord gave me you as my Big Brother!!!
sonship theus on drums (drum solo) is one of the greats. hear him on mccoy tyner's 'fly with the wind'. a deeply spiritual musician...playing with him or hearing him is a meaningful, uplifting experience. james lewis is a truly exceptional, remarkable bass player. and yes, a very warm, friendly, insightful person. i had the pleasure of playing with both of these musicians. ship, in los angeles many times and james in the bay area. they both play with great focus, vitality and energy.
I met james Lewis in paris around November of 2001.He was plaing with a wonderful singer/pianist and drummer. Man not only is the dude bad as hell on bass but he's also one of the nicest human beings I've ever met. He even let me sit in on a couple of tunes at the club. He and I spoke of Fred Hopkins one night for about an hour. If I'm correct i could have sworn he was the first African American to play in The San Diego Symphony. That piece was beautiful. God Bless! Please put up more clips!
