attitude!!!! knee has to be higher than foot! you're are also hanging on the barre way too much, try doing it with just 2 fingers on the barre and notice the difference. keep practising!
pretty good, youve got a lot of potential and a lot of strength, but be sure to not lift your hips and butt when you develope seconde. and of course, dont lean on the barre, and work on your turnout. but pretty good, youve got great feet
I am sorry honey but i am more flexible than you (i stopped training 3 years ago) and you have to learn how to run without this sound. Keep going I am sure you'll do it :)
alot of...improvement is needed, your developpe to the front is barely obove 90 degrees, you raise your hips, lean on the bar, and you literally jumped onto pointe
im going to be annoying and say watch your weight postition when devoloping, if you weren't holding onto the barre you would fall over right away... plus watch your hips when you develope to the side. your hips should aways stay level
sorry to be annoying and comlain but it was still good! u have really good arches!
I think my ballet teacher told me that when doing a develope devant, that the hip doesn't always stay square, like in Russian school, the hip slightly lifts, but not too much, you know?
@AngieGGangsterG in RAD ballet technique its completely wrong to do so.your teacher should know that its better not to lift the leg so much and have a good technique than lifting your leg and ruining the whole technique part! And finally if you sit for a RAD exam noone will ever tell you that you dont lift your leg enough!
@teardrope Ok, thank you! It's very hard to lift the leg up high with the hips square, do you have any suggestions on how to stretch to achieve a better arabesque? I'm almost completely sitting in my splits (especially in my right split), but I think it might be back inflexibility. It feels like pressure in the lower back when I try with my hips square.
@AngieGGangsterG What you must do first is to master lifting the leg in a normal height which depends on your flexibility. If you do so not only will you improve your developpes, battements etc but you will improve your balance as well. After mastering this you will notice that you lift your leg properly and without trying so much!
@AngieGGangsterG So what you must do is pulling up as hard as you can (but still keep breathing) and you can also lower your hip by touching it with your hand at first inorder to understand which you need to keep low :P this is really helpful especially when you watch what you do on the mirror. And ofcourse try not to lose your turn out!
@teardrope Thank you!!! Ok, so also, staying upright with the chest lifted? So it should help after a while? Ok! :) Thank you SO much! I hope you don't mind if I ask questions later, ur advice really helps! :)
@AngieGGangsterG No problem :) Pulling up means you gotta keep your shoulders down, lift your chest, keep your back straight and your tummy, ribs and bottom in. If you do this right you are square. When lifting your leg you need to keep pulling up and sustain your turn out (which must start from the inside of your leg and not your knee).
@AngieGGangsterG Moreover you should change your weight to the supporting leg but not too much. you can easily understand if you are doing it right just by leave the barre. If you can balance without the support of the barre you are perfectly right. Oh And dont forget to keep your weight in front of your body!
your arm is supposed to be in front of your leg always when it is extended to the side. doesn't matter if your turnout isn't as good and your arm has to come more foward than ususal. work on placement and your attitudes and arabesques
okay yes you are flexible, lots of dancers are, but i personally would tell you to work on placement and balance. the whole point of barre work is so that you can imagine the barre as a partner and gently rest your hand on the barre ready to balance without it at all times. you are constantly off your centre and having to hold on for dear life to the barre. work on letting go at the barre because if you cant do it without a barre how will you do it in the centre? also look at your hip placement
to developpe devant, you use a rotating line of energy that starts in your bum, then your hamstrings, then your inner thighs. you want to support from under your leg not pull up from your quads.
Hey, I have a question, I'm trying to improve my arabesque and my developpe devant, but if my hips are square (they should stay square and not lift sideways, right?), I feel the stretch in the hamstrings of my standing leg. Is that normal? Thank you, I'd love the help!
very much off your leg....keep working to lift the back up, pull off your hip, not lean on the barre and feel the connection between your shoulder and opposite leg. keep your upper back strong to help achieve this
Never "hang" your body on the barre, it works only as a supporting point. And not less important thing: tie your hair, it`ll help u to work more comfortable. Beautifull point an flexibility! clap clap!!
Defo relying on the barre too muchh, also beware that you need to pointe and close after your developpes, and not just bring your other leg down. flexible but not entirely impressive.
no offense, but im prob like two years younger than you, and i can do that. and when you go in ponche (dunno how 2 spell it), you need to move back from the barre, your pulling off. and when you go to passe, don't turn in. when you go to a la seconde, your supporting hip sinks in, you wwant to keep that straight.
Everything was pretty good, but just one critique: it might be the torn ACL, but you're depending way too much on the barre. If you do need to put that much weight on it to dance, maybe you should slow yourself down until the surgery? Just so you don't damage the tendon any more, or any of the surrounding muscle.
Other than that, you were great, so don't take this as a huge critiscism, even if it may have sounded like that. If it did, I'm sorry :D
be carefull with the hips... when doing developpe. If you do it like that in the center, u r gonna lose ur balance.

in developpe devant, are you meant to be using the top, inner or back muscles in your thighs? Because my teacher says I'm overusing my quads...
