Meh don't worry just don't give up trying stuff if you really want to get to the end mission, it's not that hard actually, but i can tell ya that when i played Sift Heads 1 when it got out i got own'd plenty of times..

Nope,Vinnie doesn't die ..

Here is what happens :

Vinnie kills the guy swimming,then a sniper try to kill him,but Vinnie sees him at time and dodges the bullet,then he takes the pistol from the table and shoot,sand kills the sniper,so the sniper is dead,but Vinnie is alive !
