When Betheasda acquired the right to Fallout in full the "two sequels" was nullified. By outright owning the franchise they can make as many as they want now. Don't expect anything soon though, Bethesda regularly takes 3-4 years to make their games.
Who knows what they'll focus on after the book on Skyrim is closed.

@BlueRoyalProductions It won't be released because Bethesda decided to be giant dicks and started a legal war against interplay claiming that they only gave them the right to make an mmo that is called Fallout but can't use anything from the Fallout series.
I think it might be on hiatus right now. The Fallout wikia says its slated for 2012 and the Fallout Online beta registration is still up (website). Bethesda and Interplay are currently at a legal dispute, hence why I would assume its on hiatus. But it says on the Fallout wikia that Interplay can continue development until the case is finished.

@gamerboss007 just because it has fps perspective doesn't mean it's an FPS. In the old games your not even in the world. You just look down from above so you can't really see anything but the layout of the map. Fallout 3 gets you fully immersed in the world
for all who lament not being able to play past the end heres a tip... play the rest of the game... wait for it... BEFORE YOU END THE MAIN QUEST. you see... easy.

After I played the first and second Fallout, i've realized a lot of the itema from Fallout 1 & 2 are in New Vegas but not Fallout 3. "Special" ammo like Armor piercing hollow point rounds are in Fallout 1,2, and New Vegas but not Fallout 3.
I LOVE how fallout new vegas has the old things from the first 2 in which I havent played.. I myself never played them, but have researched them and the first 2 have a great storyline and I liked the factions and rep. Something fallout 3 was missing. But I Also loved fallout 3, Great story, all around awesome game, I just hope the 2 keep working together, Becuase If they keep makeing the Fallouts like new vegas, but with better graphic and such It will keep being an awesome game series

@xxnetoxx1 No, just because some of the origonal developers had worked on this game means that some of what made the classic FO games great is being somewhat reintagrated into New Vegas. also, I don't think the new graphics are what turned off the classic FO fans to begin with. I think it was more of the story and other small things that contradicted the classic FO games. Others were just company loyalists who believed that Black Isle and ONLY Black isle should produce the FO games. -Sageoftalos

lol I love love all the fallout games, but I did notice that New Vegas was more like the old games with the play style of Fallout 3, lol the super mutants are a very good point of this. In Fallout 3 there just dump angry things to kill, in Vegas there smart and some are friendly :D
but if you read some of the info on the Vault website it says its due to the FEV virus strands that made there, the one used in 3 or DC made them asexual and also only there to fight and lower IQ
Now knowing that Obsidian was involved with the older Fallouts, that is relieving, because sometimes when 2 companies make the same game series, it ends up like Call Of Duty... If you haven't noticed, Infinity Ward's graphics and Treyarch's graphics are VERY different, and the way they take turns making CODs is annoying because it's like playing 2 different game series instead of one.

Very informing. I fall into the "Love Fallout 3 Group" and I'm starting to have second thoughts about how Fallout New Vegas is going to turn out for me. I thought Bethesda was still behind Fallout, and I was very disappointed when they let go of the Elder Scrolls Series (Favorite game ever right next to Fallout 3). Will this be the end of Bethesda now that they basically have no more popular titles?
Bethesda didn't "let go" of anything. They just own both Fallout and the elder scrolls. Obsidian was allowed to make a fallout game because they have employees that have history with the series.
Also keep in mind that Bethesda has announced that the elder scrolls V IS coming. Though they haven't said when it will get here.
I liked fallout 3 more than fallout new vegas. But that because i don't get the story. You got shot in the head by some mafia guys or thugs. And then you see a doctor he tells you allot of staff. I don't actually remember a thing from what he said. But in fallout 3, you don't need to get the story. All you should know is that you need allot of caps and guns and ammo.

@Linkthe1st It should be noted that Interplay (the original owners of the Fallout game franchise) retained the rights to create a Fallout MMO, which is still in development. There's a legal battle going on at the moment about what that actually entails. Bethesda says that Interplay can only call their game "Fallout" but not use any of the assets, while Interplay insists that they can do whatever the hell they want with this one game.
Yeah, Interplay is being rather unsavoury about having the rights wrestled away from them. For the most part though it doesn't matter. They don't have the assets to properly fund the development a Fallout MMO.
@Linkthe1st It is kind of sad to watch. Interplay tried this same tactic when they made Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, pinning their hopes on making a generic shooter help them stave off bankruptcy in the first place, now they're trying to reignite their business by trying the same tactic.
Everyone thats wondering I have played this game and yes it is very good. Its worth 60 american dollars and 35 euros. I recommend downlading the game to hard drive after you get it it makes the game work better and faster. To do this you need to go to the place where you click play game and press y then you should be able to have the option. You can delete it anytime you want to and it will not affect your game memory.

mmm that was pretty bullshity...they are using the same engine, but just because they made the original games doesn't mean they can't adapt and develop to build a new feel away from all previous Fallout titles - though it will most likely feel like a follow-on from 3.
I've played the game and I don't see why they end the game when you complete the story line. Then you don't get to Go back the other missions. Also they didn't improve the game at all. They added new items and story. Everything else is the same. They could easily changed the graphic or changed the way you have to shoot someone in the head 20 times before they die. Fallout 3 is better it is just old and so, I'm tired of it.

I hated the "If you want to beat this enemy use this weapon, and if you want to beat that foe use this weapon."
Another stat is "DPS", its the damage caused by the weapon but if that weapon has low damage threshold penetration, not much damage would get past your foes armor.
and considering the fact that each type of weapon has its own unique ammo. You must be sure to bring 1 weapon if each type and plenty of ammo for each since you will never know what foe you're gonna cross next.
I liked fallout 3 but not fallout New Vegas as much, I played it some but am not really happy with some of its changes like the new stat "Damage threshold".
It forces you to only use certain weapons against certain enemies since some weapons can penetrate an enemies damage threshold better then others.
Back in fallout 3, I could use any weapon I chose against all enemies, I liked the freedom, and that freedom got restricted a bit in Fallout New Vegas.

I was REALLY dissapointed by fallout 3. Like, how much it had distanced itself from the setting, plot and feel of the original games in place of a really generic post-apocalyptic world with bits of the retro-futuristic elements of the original games hapazardly thrown in and exxagerated to the point of no return was enough to make me uninstall it within 2 hours. Fallout New Vegas, however, looks very promising for all the right reasons. Once i get the money, im buying the shit out of this game.
I was actually very worried that the obsidian will kind of screw up the game, but now that I see they are actually one of the original makers of previous fallout games it kind of rose my interest at how the Fallout New Vegas will turn out.

Wow.. thanks for the info man. I own all the Fallout games (Besides that Brotherhood of Steel game that came out for the PS2) and am a big fan. Knowing that the people that made FO1 and 2 are behind the creation of FO:NV makes me like the game even more.
Crackdown 1 was big but not that big the next was done by ruffen and guys still complain about is being the same. So im not sure that this is such a big deal.

Bethesda didn't "let go" of anything. They just own both Fallout and the elder scrolls. Obsidian was allowed to make a fallout game because they have employees that have history with the series.
Also keep in mind that Bethesda has announced that the elder scrolls V IS coming. Though they haven't said when it will get here.

I liked fallout 3 more than fallout new vegas. But that because i don't get the story. You got shot in the head by some mafia guys or thugs. And then you see a doctor he tells you allot of staff. I don't actually remember a thing from what he said. But in fallout 3, you don't need to get the story. All you should know is that you need allot of caps and guns and ammo.

Okay, I have a question. Since New Vegas was made by Obsidian and NOT Bethesda, does that mean Bethesda still has the rights to make two more fallout games? Or does this count as one since it was a partnership with Bethesda?

It doesn't matter.
As I stated in the video Bethesda acquired the franchise in it's entirety in 2007. That means they can now can make Fallout games indefinitely.

@Linkthe1st It should be noted that Interplay (the original owners of the Fallout game franchise) retained the rights to create a Fallout MMO, which is still in development. There's a legal battle going on at the moment about what that actually entails. Bethesda says that Interplay can only call their game "Fallout" but not use any of the assets, while Interplay insists that they can do whatever the hell they want with this one game.

Yeah, Interplay is being rather unsavoury about having the rights wrestled away from them. For the most part though it doesn't matter. They don't have the assets to properly fund the development a Fallout MMO.

@Linkthe1st It is kind of sad to watch. Interplay tried this same tactic when they made Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, pinning their hopes on making a generic shooter help them stave off bankruptcy in the first place, now they're trying to reignite their business by trying the same tactic.

Everyone thats wondering I have played this game and yes it is very good. Its worth 60 american dollars and 35 euros. I recommend downlading the game to hard drive after you get it it makes the game work better and faster. To do this you need to go to the place where you click play game and press y then you should be able to have the option. You can delete it anytime you want to and it will not affect your game memory.

mmm that was pretty bullshity...they are using the same engine, but just because they made the original games doesn't mean they can't adapt and develop to build a new feel away from all previous Fallout titles - though it will most likely feel like a follow-on from 3.

I've played the game and I don't see why they end the game when you complete the story line. Then you don't get to Go back the other missions. Also they didn't improve the game at all. They added new items and story. Everything else is the same. They could easily changed the graphic or changed the way you have to shoot someone in the head 20 times before they die. Fallout 3 is better it is just old and so, I'm tired of it.

I hated the "If you want to beat this enemy use this weapon, and if you want to beat that foe use this weapon."
Another stat is "DPS", its the damage caused by the weapon but if that weapon has low damage threshold penetration, not much damage would get past your foes armor.
and considering the fact that each type of weapon has its own unique ammo. You must be sure to bring 1 weapon if each type and plenty of ammo for each since you will never know what foe you're gonna cross next.

I liked fallout 3 but not fallout New Vegas as much, I played it some but am not really happy with some of its changes like the new stat "Damage threshold".
It forces you to only use certain weapons against certain enemies since some weapons can penetrate an enemies damage threshold better then others.
Back in fallout 3, I could use any weapon I chose against all enemies, I liked the freedom, and that freedom got restricted a bit in Fallout New Vegas.

I was REALLY dissapointed by fallout 3. Like, how much it had distanced itself from the setting, plot and feel of the original games in place of a really generic post-apocalyptic world with bits of the retro-futuristic elements of the original games hapazardly thrown in and exxagerated to the point of no return was enough to make me uninstall it within 2 hours. Fallout New Vegas, however, looks very promising for all the right reasons. Once i get the money, im buying the shit out of this game.

I was actually very worried that the obsidian will kind of screw up the game, but now that I see they are actually one of the original makers of previous fallout games it kind of rose my interest at how the Fallout New Vegas will turn out.
