wyattmcintyre thanks for uploading this video. Whats the name of the second song? I would appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks again and God Bless you.
@Jileek I believe the one you want to know is "We Shall Overcome", it was one of the big songs during the Civil Rights Movement, and is based on one of the old Gospel tunes. It has been covered by a lot of people, from Pete Seeger to Mahalia Jackson to Joan Baez and Bruce Springsteen. The version I used, if I remember right is the late 1960's version of Jackson's. Hope that helps. God bless
That is what Toronto cops always do. They play of people's fears. They tell the common man, if you don't give me the money (money = power) to take care of this person (their personal enemy framed as a criminal or even a terrorist, they have no limits) or this summit, then we can't guarantee your security. They lie left right center. Make up false threats. Capitalize on our fears and steal the common man's money, to become more powerful against the common man in the end.
Great compilation! It is very gratifying to see a conservative that has the clarity of thought to recognize Dr. King's fantastic contribution to our country....5 Stars!
It's hard not to recognize his contribution, it spread across partisan lines to speak to the very basic principles by which America was founded upon. I think, in that he summed it up when he had said, America was written a check by the Founding Fathers, to which we are all heirs, yet it came back to to the African American's marked insufficient funds. That to me say's it all, we can't believe in how and what America was founded upon in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence and
I couldn't agree more, he represents a great deal of what freedom was intended, to see some of what he stood for, some of what he fought for twisted for political means and political power is so disturbing.
Mr. Wyattmcintyre: "Stand up for freedom for all of God's children" against the right wing Republican zealots and FOR Freedom. Mr. Bush and Bush III McCain are/will trashing our civil liberties. A Supreme Court under McCain would reverse ALL want Rev King fought for. GB
People say that as they have said that a Supreme Court under x would reverse Roe v. Wade or any host of other things and I have to admit I am as skeptical of these scare tactics from the left as I am from the right. The Democrats had more vote against Civil Rights in the 60's than the Republicans, some who still serve in the Senate. Let's not play this game sir because you know it apparently as well as I do.
This was well done. I remember being 17 and wondering what would happen next... soon it was RFK. Dr. King's words are as relevant today as they were then. Thanks.
I wish I could have been alive to see him speak and I could only imagine the heartwrenching cries of the nation when he did pass so young. He was a great man and an amazing leader and his words never shall lose their relevance
Martin Luther King was a decent man who fought for justice. He also tried to bring the country together not as black america or white america but, as the United States of America. One of his goals was for everyone to judge each other by the content of our character not by the color of our skin. Dr. King was a great speaker. If you listen carefully to the volume of his voice you can feel the passion he had for what he was saying.
I look at his eyes and they carry so much of the weight of the world that there is no mistaken the intensity of his beliefs or the passion of his soul. He was an amazing leader, the likes of which come so rarely and for that I feel richly blessed to still hear his message now
Thankyou for sharing David. Indeed let freedom ring! Thankyou Wyatt for posting, you both understand his message well enough to want to share it. Blessings to you both...Diane. 5*****
Diane, thank you so much for watching. It is a message we need to remember today as much as we ever did and for that I am eternally grateful to Dr. King for teaching to us a bit more of what freedom means
Thank you my dear friend, it is appreciated. He was a great leader who taught us all just a little bit more about what it means to be free, about what it means to live amidst the message of liberty that guides the hope of our future.
