He can hold his breath a pretty long time (A few hours?) and pressure extremes don't bother him, but he still needs a suit if he's going to spend significant time in space or underwater. This version doesn't think "backwards" (though they sort of make him that way in at least ONE later JUSTICE LEAGUE episode), he's just kind of brain damaged.
