it's not a patch cable, it's a sunglasses strap, possibly Croakies brand, which is very popular with us southerners. Redneck fratboys in particular. Nice Video.

Hey Morby, I got totally jazzed watching your videos. These got me really interested in modular synthesis. So I have spent more than a year putting a 70 module dot.com (and others) system together. I spend a lot of time tweaking it and I love it as much as I thought I would.
@MrDepont I love to listen to those who believe 'they know it all'... and 'THEY, can always do better'. Being the old, wise, and seasoned master that you are... tell us... why do you continue to return, here- and... let's hear some of YOUR efforts. Or even- describe some of the patching techniques used here.
You evidently impress yourself rather easily... especially, knowing so little of my background. Why not count how many belittle these 'demos'... and how many post positive comments?
@MrDepont What you don't know (or seem to understand), is that these videos are strictly DEMOS, for a modular synthesizer group... showing some of the many possibilities. I doubt "a child could do the same"... and rather than arguing that, why not 'impress me' by simply giving a text description of the patch(es) involved here... ummm .... if you can.
@celticart Again- These vids are specifically for members of a private modular synth group. Some are making a specific point... others are simply showing some of the possibilities. And- all are improvisational, and recording with no overdubs... 'on-the-fly'.
You seem to be focused on some 'childish' theme. Since NO others have made such comments, it would seem that it's YOUR issue.... not mine.
I suppose should tell you that one of the reasons I post these demos... is because I am the moderator of the group. Often, in the normal course of questions asked by members, I will compose/perform on video, and post to YouTube. And there is frequently, specific discussions on whatever subject. This is especially true when newbies to the modular world, are asking certain questions. Beyond that- I'd point out that people have different tastes and expectations. 'One size fits all', sux badly.
@morbius001 well said. why do people even waste their time watching it if the are not interested. I on the other hand am fascinated and have learnt a lot from your videos and thank you profusely for them. Whats the group you are a moderator of? Sounds like something Id love.
@celticart (these weren't meant or directed at you. : )
The system is acting funky, and sometimes giving 'error messages'.... so my replies were just kinda stuck in there, where ever the system was working.
Very nice sweet flowing Trance minimalistic loops. Very good taste in sound choices. And what a treat to hear the Ancient Technological Marvels. Thank you for Sharing. Electronic Music Composer and Pianist ObeeLektro. Cheers.
@MrDepont I supose you started out playing complicated arrangements without having to learn anything simple. I happen to think this is great stuff. If someone invests upward of $15,000.00 and shares with us, I for one am thankful.
@harmsworth1 Thank you for your opinion. I "started out" playing piano by ear (but being a percussionist for 15+ years. I'm also "self-taught" in every aspect of synthesizers... in fact, in the mid 70's, I taught the professorat Memphis State, a number of techniques that he wasn't aware of. He had me 'tutor' his students who were having 'difficulties'.
I started (at 15) at a rec. studio, being the only person who knew anything about 'Moogs', doing the first Weed-Eater TV spot, at $52/hr.....
.... and $52/hr., in the early 70's, was pretty damn-good money. Anyway- I've done 'simple' stuff. But isn't composing music, really the act of putting what you feel, and what your mind thinks about... isn't that certainly ONE of the definitions of composing music? I'd suggest that the only way to grow, is to push oneself beyond what one can do 'easily'... to stretch one's "musical muscles". That's VERY true patching & programming modular synths. I don't 'know it all'... but work towards it.
... (continued)... regarding the $15,000... one doesn't have to start-off with such a system. Most build towards what their own needs are- gradually. That's the beauty of modular. In fact, many of my modules are redundant, and/or used infrequently. These are tools. An oil-painter may 'have' many brushes, yet favors or normally uses some fraction of his inventory. But- part of the 'art', is knowing when and how to use all of the tools at his disposal. Modules can be sold or traded, as desired.
Nice progression through the video. :) What sequencer(s) are you using? Curious, as I'm in the middle of building my own sequencers for my modular. :)
I've liked the sound and appearance of modulars ever since Carlos' albums came out. Your music and the videos just reinforce that. It seems that there is more craftmanship in the music than just hitting a few digital pre-sets. Thanks for the videos.
Wow that was GREAT. Do you ever pull all the patch cables and say that was fun now lets start fresh :) I bet it took a long time to set it up. Thanks for the video.
Iam definetly buying your CD once it comes out, Your music is amazing, and the sound is so soothing. please oh please, continue. I sure did find something rare and beautiful.
Thanx. I am, in fact working on my CD release (jeez... so much to do)... and hope to get the 2nd one working after that. I've decided that the music on my CD's willing include several flavors... some tunes, some sequences (as seen on YouTube), and certainly the music which is screaming to get out. Thanx again to off of you fans... it's you, who makes it worth doing. : )
heh-he... I also wish the YouTube would provide us with a way to edit our comments. I won't ask for spell-check... but a good 'what I meant' program would be great!
Thanx for the fovorable rating. The original upload (same video) has 9,690 views, lots-O-comments, and I get lots of private emails about it... but, for whatever reason, I get get that one video to play. I kinda hate to delete it (with it's stats), and it could be that others are able to get the play to work, but not I. : (
I enjoy watching and listening to all your works on Youtube. Thanks for such fine electronic work.

@MrDepont No invention needed here MrDepont.
It don't pretend to invent something new. Just be joyed by the sound.
We don't need to hear from you how easy it is. If you are done with things that you already have done in your child-days then that's ok by me.
