i harvest and buy horseshoe crabs for eel bait - they are also used for conch bait - they are sold anywhere from $1 to $2.50 each - not $2500 - when sold to the medical lab @ the same going rate (theres one on cape cod) they extract the "blood" that they need and return the crab to the harvester who will then release it to the area that it was harvested from (in theory) there is a component in their copper based blood that is used by pharmaceutical companies to test the purity of their drugs

@JoyeuseXI Poisonous - OMG! I ate them, and they were delicious. The poison , a neurotoxin called tetrodotoxin, is the same one there is in the pufferfish - fugu. There are also reports of tetrodotoxin poisoning from gatropods - whelks to you,.

I'm from 'Nam. Those omelettes are part of these new ridiculous "fashion dishes" and have nothing to do with the original vietnamese cuisine. Traditionaly horseshoe crab eggs are prepared as Gỏi Trứng Sam. Gỏi is a type of vietnamese salad and Trứng Sam simply means horseshoe crab. Sadly the people in vietnam have forgotten their culture for a long time.
