I'm actually in the same situation. I've been shopping around online at at different stores comparing this with the Numark NS7 and they both do the same, so I'm rolling with the VCI-300 only because of portability. Everyone I spoke with said its the matter of personal preference b/c they both do the same and they both are very user-friendly. Good Luck!

apparently if you get the nsfx with the ns7 then you have a greater amount of control over the effects (there are more nobs on the ns7, and it is slightly more user friendly.. but its about 300-800 more.. (the nsfx controller is an additional 199 ontop of the 1299...)

sound quality of sound card is decent, but as it only has a few unbal. rca, it's also a bit limited

serato itch (not scratch) is very performance ready software, runs smoothly with minimal glitches, fairly basic software however

personally i find the vci 100 a better controller, as its cheaper, more flexible and you can use with any software you want without any dramas

vci 300, will possibly be cheaper in the end due to the fact you do not need another sound interface

also, the eq's in any digital program are shocking, strongly recommend using a traditional mixer with any software dj program
