As for the best. We've got lot's of good ones. I mean Stanley Clark is aweful hard to get past. Jaco. Ron Carter. I find it hard to believe that Entwistle is even seriously named.
Amazing artists - too bad that so many at the gig were not listening (ordering coffee etc) stunning players, one can barley breathe when they play - so gorgeous
I'm upright bass player and I can tell that Gomez is great but there is a lot more double bass players who can be better and more accurate. That's my opinion but I like style of Gomez a lot ! He is original :)
I recently saw chick corea with Eddie Gomez and Paul motian at the Blue note in NYC.. hands down, eddie Gomez is one of the best bass jazz bass players. Very earlt by Bill ewvans is a difficult piece and Gomez was right on the money. His timing is excellent and he can swing. Great show.!!!!!
@oregonbobv Eddie is real good without a doubt ,but to be fair, he probably has played "Very Early" more than any bass player alive,so he should know it by now.And actually any professional jazz musician should have good time and swing. It goes with the territory...
Hey nice!!! Was this from Seattle's Jazz Alley? I was at one of these shows and it was as close as one could get to seeing the "original" Return To Forever - Chick Corea and Airto, with stellar Hubert Laws standing in for the late Joe Farrell and of course the great Eddie Gomez on bass. I had a front row seat and it was just amazing. Thanks for posting this!
if you put john entwhistle onstage with someone like chick corea he'd embaress himself beyond measure - just imagine him struggling to even hold the chord changes to stella by starlight or spain
he's good at faking a bass solo by hiding behind distortion and theatrics. if you want to compare apples to apples (electric bass) compare him to someone like marcus miller, jeff berlin, or john patitucci and you'll see how immature and incompetent entwhistle's 'ability' compares
@NZDaywalker Haha Thank you for those kind words. Respect the more defined, historic, and vastly superior man :) I would never put McBride and Clarke above the names I mentioned, because they don't have individuality like Brown or Pedersen. I would say Clarke and McBride play faster, that's about it :) Again, all opinions.
you primitve, ignorant fools.. i'm contacting youtube and your comments will soon be removed from this space filled with the great digital eddie gomez
Forget all that greatist player (media hype) crap and just enjoy the music.
