Let people say what they like about "influences". Just keep working no matter what. I love the serious work you are composing too. Classical technique opens doors to even higher potential. However, your talent will blow the doors down what ever you do. NO Fear. :)
Hmm, very "Prokofievian"! It really looks like something he would compose in his last phase, the melody, the harmony, the way you develop the music... Very good!!! (and interesting) ; )
Your classical compositions are 1000 times better than your contemporary work. Please stay inspired to continue this kind of work. After all, it might not be as rewarding to your audience, but you and I both know it is deeply rewarding to you and the few who appreciate this kind of music. I wish I heard more Rachmaninoff influence from you though.
Hey Kyle, do you have any specific resources (books/teachers/composers/etc) that helped you get to this level? I'm a self taught guitarist that wants to be a video game/animated film composer; got a classical teacher recently but I'm just learning simplified classical pieces out of a book. I feel like I'm too far behind to write things like this by the time I make it to college, but I want to catch up more than I've ever wanted anything. Is there anything else special you've done to get here?
Kyle! You move across the entire color spectrum with your sound. I'm especially impressed with your pianistic expression in this piece. To be honest, all of the harmonies are beautiful and so are the rhythmic variations, but I was mesmerized by the sheer power of your piano part. AMAZING JOB!
For the most part it was a little too pantonal for me. It's just not really my thing. The "busy" feel may have just been from the mixing (it was much better in headphones). The theme around 2:30 was 150% epic (Inception?), and some of the more inside parts were more palatable for me. I feel like this is you stretching your wings a little bit, and it's definitely great, just not my cup of tea. I really enjoyed the rhythmic elements you used here. Rhythm was the star here.
Bravo, that was spectacular. The MIDI was really good, but any chance we could here this played with real instruments? Maybe Josh Chiu would play it for you? Oh and where did you find the art for this video? I would really like to make it a screensaver
Wow, this is amazing! At parts it reminded me of Legend of Zelda, and then Final Fantasy, & then Kingdom Hearts. But most of all it was just an amazing piece from you. It's all your own!
Don't get me wrong, I'm a really big fan of your music, but this one was kinda weird to me. I guess it's just that I'm used to your music having one theme, and the transition between the themes was quite odd and abrupt.
oh, and... I don't know if this is an aware choice, but consider the idea of founding your composition on a musical form ( h t t p : / / e n . w i k i p e d i a . o r g / w i k i / M u s i c a l _ f o r m )
What about the idea playing this in a collab with Josh Chiu. I think the sound would be a lot better and the idea behind the piece would be more clear.
Very, very good. It's a wonderful style and worth to be published not only in YT. Really good. I often played competitions where a "modern piece" was obligatory. I heared a lot of "modern style" and you can really compete with! Really well done!
I hope you will find a real violinist soon...it would sound better. ;)
I bet you can play the piano with your toes. Admit it! lol. You know I was thinking kyle, have you heard the song children by Robert Miles? Well Escala does the song on violin and I was thinking it would be cool if you did your version on piano of coarse, and josh could accompany you on the violin. Anyway, just a thought.
Could you make a playlist of your improvisations and perhaps a playlist of your favorite pieces that you've played, or a couple of them anyway, and put it on your channel? I think that It would be amazingly helpful for your viewers.
Kyle, You NEED to get a copy of eastwest orchestra! soundsonline . com / Symphonic - Orchestra It has the most amazing and realistic sounds!! the songs you'd be creating with it would be AMAZING!!!
This sounded confused and cluttered to my ears until I read your description and complied. I stopped everything, closed my eyes, and listened. The notes pieced together and something beautiful formed, in the sounds I heard and in the visions that were summoned behind my eyelids. This is beautiful. Thank you!
@Me2Myself3AndI As I listen to it more, I really think midi doesn't do this composition justice. You gotta let people perform it on true violin. It's the right thing to do!
@Me2Myself3AndI There is sheet music. My classical compositions are all thought out note by note on sibelius. That's why it takes months and months of work to create.
@CaioLugon probably because he is trying to get youtube partnership, so he made another channel for original songs and is uploading the original songs onto this one too. :]
