  • I have a serious man crush for this guy. Freaking awesome instruction!!

  • If you want to see something really extreme when it comes to leg training than check out my video's I was inspired by steve cotter.

  • damn this guy is strong

  • My knee caps feel hyper mobile and painfully crack after i do pistols all the way down. I can do about fifteen bodyweight pistols on either leg, but after a week or two of doing pistols i get the knee issues. I dont ever feel pain during the workout its always days after. Does anyone have any pointers to make this a painless exercise?

PS i know i should just go get a RKC certified person but im poor.

  • @chodykumbra It's probably a matter of flexibility, probably hamstring, that makes your knee go forward meaning the knee gets loaded more than usual. So the answer for you PROBABLY is to increase hamstring flexibility.

  • BEAST

  • this is so much easier if you're a little manlet. not so simple for us lanky giant dudes.

  • @OinopsPontos Everything is easier if you're small, except maybe dunking ;-) ... I'm 6'6'' (1,98 m) and can do the weighted pistol just fine. I had to work on my flexibility first though. Google "pistol tactical ballerina" (no joke) for an article on flexibility for the pistol.

  • "Hold the pistol by the horns" lol

  • I found a good variation on these - do them on an incline, facing uphill.

The incline forces you to balance on the ball of your foot, as well as tighten your form more in order to keep the straight leg from touching the ground.

    You should try it...

  • here i come manny pacquiao legs!

  • i've just started doing these and there brilliant! Highly recommendable exercise

  • """olympic lifter careers wouldn't last long at all if doing a full deep squat was bad for the knees BUT their careers are long and they have the strongest, healthiest knee joints on the planet."""

Hit the nail on the head.

  • Demn! honestly I just cant picture my self getting up

  • werd.

  • full deep squat is better for your knee! This video is awesome!!!!

  • not if you perform it correctly

  • That statement makes it obvious that you are uneducated in this regard. Because of his center of gravity his glutes and hamstrings work harder than his quads.

  • If this was wrong the baby would instinctively stop at parallel like a powerlifter. It doesn't matter whether you use one leg or two, Full range of motion is good for the knee joint, makes it more mobile and strengthens it.

  • The falacy about 'too much pressure' being put on the joint in a full squat, one legged or otherwise is simply not true. The only time pistols or olympic squats are bad is when there are pre existing problems with the joint. Also olympic lifter careers wouldn't last long at all if doing a full deep squat was bad for the knees BUT their careers are long and they have the strongest, healthiest knee joints on the planet.

  • Sorry cyclopmummy, you're incorrect. If your form is correct by using the whole leg (not just quads like w/ a useless leg extension machine) you're knees and entire lower body (well, maybe not calves) will get stronger.

  • Steve is awesome
