  • @flipback1234 A330 is a very big plane 747 is uneconomical and dieing out!

  • @flipback1234 A330-300 is one of the biggest

  • 21 Dec ready for takeoff to USA. Flight cancelled due to snow acceptable. But to be told next available flight 30 Dec is NOT acceptable. Some travelled for more than 8 hours while others had to use hotels. Any comment from Aer Lingus?

  • @flipback1234 Aer Lingus will not be using 747's again. I think when they had four of them they had to lease out three. Passenger numbers weren't high enough to support the 747's. They're now using the Airbus A330 for transatlantic services and they'll be using the Airbus A350-900 in the future.

  • @flipback1234 There are enough ancient relics in Ireland without bringing back the 747!! Airbus forever!!

  • i ralley want to know so any of you guys or girls any way can you tell me dose aer lingus have merotes in the arm rest that you take out to control your own personal tv because im going to B oston in 6 days time and i ralley want to know so pleas reply and fast becaus not long till i am going oh and by the way i am crazy about planes people say i will never shout up about them and my favourite airline is aer lingus and i am also 10 years old and know alot about them

  • @dgtfrsff Yes Aer Lingus have a control in the armrest that you can take out to use the personal screen. It can be used for things like the games, music, television shows and movies.

  • @emmyoscar89 I think you get ur own...cus im going on dat 1 in July!

  • The . com revalution was the begining of the downfall of Aerlingus

  • Not so sure about that, it saved Aer Lingus from imminent bankruptcy and their transformation into a low fares airline produced year after year of profits and more passengers than ever. They are struggling now but then so are plenty of airlines, they are not alone.

  • these aircraft are now too big to land at Dublin runway as its too short. the 747's that aer lingue used to have where 747-100 which where alot lighter than for example the 747-400 which now operate instead

  • Every transatlantic route has parsonal TVs except DUB-MCO(Orlando), which is aircraft registration EI-DUB

  • @JamesLiveProductions Its a women pilot that flys that plane (im not being sexist)

  • Aer Lingus have just finished upgrading their aircraft cabins, seven out of eight A330s now have the new cabin so there is a good chance that you'll get a ptv on your flight. The only aircraft that still has the old cabin is EI-DUB an A330-300, all other A330s have the new cabins. Enjoy your flight.

  • The aircraft you mention was inbound so it shed a lot of weight while flying in over the Atlantic. A fully loaded and fully fuelled 747 or A340 could not take off on runway 28 at Dublin, the runway is way too short.

  • yes that was a 747-100!! they are a bit smaller and less heavy than a 747-400 or -200:P

  • Dublin has only one runway and a fully loaded B747 can't take off from there because the runway is not long enough. In fact an Airbus 340 can't take off from there either. That's why the old 747's refuelled in Shannon. I hear a second runway is in the works but that might take 20 years before it happens.

  • Second runway is on the way and permission has been granted, will open in 2014 was last i hear. Should have happened years ago though

  • I really like AerLingus. I remember flight from Dublin to Warsaw when I was sick and felt so bad. When I faint for a while the stewrdesses took care of me very well. Also they gave me two botttles of water, some food and didn't charge me, they just didn't want money for this.

Every time I'm flying with Aerlingus I am delighted:)

  • no actually for a while now theve had a good bit of routes from SNN, to even Florida! Weird I know but... I guess its good!

  • Does Aer Lingus have PTV (personal tv's behind each seat) on A330's? Like the picture at 1:40.

  • Unfortunately not all the A330s have PTVs as of yet, it currently stands at three with two aircraft having newer on demand systems but in January all the A330 fleet will go through an upgrade to install new cabins and PTVs. It should be completed early in the new year.

  • Yes, but only the new ones. I actually just returned from Shannon last year, and on the way it was obiously an old A330 but on the way back we did have PTVs.

  • @risewiththelive1 One or two planes have them!

  • Aer Lingus celebrated their first birthday in Belfast today, total bookings were ahead of expectations and they have carried 100,000 more people than originally planned. Aer Lingus will add frequencies to current routes next summer and add Tenerife as a new route next September.

  • Not the airline it used to be..the aerlingus ppl loved is now dead u have some low co not sure where to go....its sad but i feel its time to swallow pride and let ryanair fix it, they seem to be doing summit right!!

I rarely fly aerlingus anymore which is a shame.........

  • It is different but if they didn't change to low cost, they would have gone a long time ago. The staff are still some of the best I have ever seen, there are more routes than ever before and fares are lower, this year alone saw the average fare fall 6% compared to 2007. Despite all the doom and gloom in the press about Aer Lingus, the airline is one of the strongest in Europe - 800 million in the bank and expected profits for 2009. Ryanair won't fix Aer Lingus. They want rid of Aer Lingus.

  • where and when are they flying from waterford?

  • Go on Aer Lingus - you are giving the 2 big boys at Belfast International Easyjet and BMI a run for their money - by the hight sales Aer Lingus have sold so far - keep it going and well done

Great to see the Shamrock in Belfast Airport

  • Some more of his great ideas - spending millions improving each long-haul aircraft. starting a new customer service training programm with staff. Starting the first sucessful base outside of ROI, Belfast. Reaching profits 16% above expectations. I agree hes made some big mistakes but he's also doing a lot of good. I wonder what Willie Walsh would have done if he stayed?

  • Aer Lingus also has some *HOT* stewardesses!

  • I am intrested in becoming a comercial airline pilot. I would love to fly for aer lingus, as it being my national airline. It has allways being a great wish for me to fly for aerlingus. Any advice?

  • You'll need A levels in Science and preferably a BSc degree, then Ryanair will pay for you to complete pilot training in New Zealand provided you sign up to work for them for a certain amount of time. Aer Lingus, like BA and many other national carriers, prefer to take on pilots who have served as military pilots.

  • Do flight departing from JFK have IFE (seatback TVs) onboard?

  • Not yet, the most likely routes to have seat back IFE are Chicago, San Francisco and LA. However a major upgrade is taking place and by next summer (2009) 80% of the fleet will be upgraded with new IFE and seatsn.

  • transplanko works for ryanair

  • It's a pity this video does not represent the Aer Lingus of today. They are a cut throat airline who have been bailed out by the taxpayer numerous times in the past when they were a semi-state company.

The majority of the flight attendants are bi*ches who feel a smile, like their bad tasting snacks no longer come for free on board.

  • Sorry you feel that way but that is your personal opinion of the airline and not a fact.

  • what part is not a fact?? Yes they were bailed out by the tax payer more than once and yes, they charge you for everything bar the air you breathe when you are on board...fact!

  • what part is not a fact??

The part where you call their F/As bi*ches.

Aer Lingus still provide a great service (in my opinion) fares are low (at least all the ones I have booked) and more than 10 million passengers are expected to fly with them in 2008 (fact) so they must be doing something right.

  • OK, point taken, just my experience then..more than once though, and hey, yes I am flying with them again to NYC in 4 weeks time...so let's hope I have a different experience.

  • you should try flying ryanair!!!!!

  • i noticed a 787 in your video is aer lingus now ordering these instead as i thought they went wiht a350's

  • No I made this when Aer Lingus was still evaluating the aircraft, so I used both in my video. They are still expecting 6 A330Es and 6 A350s for delivery in 2009 and 2014.

  • i like this video,especialy the muzac

  • You Suck !

  • electricrockr, perhaps you fly so often that you don't appreciate the beauty of the cliffs and the scenery each time you fly in! I found it captivating as I arrived Shannon the first time, and I have to say how impressed I really was! Of course, it is your preference, but try to appreciate it as not many people have the chance as you do. Last time I flew to Ireland was last April (2006). The next time will be May 2008.I want to travel to Ireland as often as possible. It is simply gorgeouns!

  • The music is really nice. Could anyone tell me how to get the music for that? Greatly appreciate it. I know it's popular because I've heard it before. What is the name of the song?

  • The name is "Mission - Gabriels Oboe" it's from the movie "The Mission" and I'm sure you can get it on limewire or itunes. I got it via limewire.

  • shut up im like 38 im just saying rynair suck is all

  • i flew with ryanair an engine broke and we were flying sideways the whole flight RYANAIR SUCK!

  • emirates is better

  • The diddly-aye music was a bit overwhelming .......

  • aer lingus stopped the shannon flight because it has a really high landing fee. personally, since i go to dublin every year, i am glad that the have stopped flying to shannon and i cant see why you'd want to stop there.

  • I don't think its really a matter of 'wanting' to stop there; some people may actually need to stop there.

  • Shannon needs you, Aer Lingus.

  • About four years ago on a return flight from the US, I noticed something odd protruding from the portside wing. On exiting the aircraft I mentioned it to one of the male flight attendants in the hope that he would have it checked out. To my utter dismay he simply, without even looking, dismissed it and said it was supposed to be like that, and walked away.

  • Another flight attendant overheard the conversation and quickly apologized and had me point it out for her. Seeing the object of my concern, she said she would report it to the Captain immediately and thanked me. I sincerely hope that male flight attendant is no longer working for that airline or any other airline for that matter.

  • Great video...

  • Great video.Thank you.

  • U gotta love the "girls in green"

  • They are just the best..

  • Hi! Aer Lingus ordered EI-DAA no other airline had it before. The reason EI-DAA has PTVs is because its the youngest and Aer Lingus planned on ordering many more plus updating the others but 9/11 happened and plans were dropped. Now Aer Lingus have got their new EI-DUO with new PTVs and cabin they also just ordered 12 Airbus planes 6 A330s and 6 A350XWBs!

  • Great move.EI have a great reputation and long may it live.....

  • im flying with their a330 this summer.

  • I know quite a few people who fly BA for the very same reason you do. Thankfully Aer Lingus are about to order quite a few new planes, which will replace the current fleet and include TVs in all classes. The first are already arriving. Aer Lingus will ahve a better product in economy than BA.

  • Thanks. I think they should have them in all the A330s, then i wouldn't have to fly across the atlantic with BA instead.

  • I agree. So many people I have talked too say the same. However the fleet will start to be replaced very soon, 2 A330s now have PTVs one of which has audio and visual on demand an amazing improvement. Another A330 is due later this month and then from 2008 more A330s are arriving with the same new cabin and lie flat seats in Premier which can be seen on Aer Lingus website. The service Aer Lingus once had is returning. Good times ahead for Aer Lingus so you wont have to fly BA.

  • Glad to hear it :)

  • Simply buying new aircraft is not going to remedy the problems facing AL. Its whole philosophy towards customer service needs to improve drastically if it wants to survive and flourish. Its service needs to blow away the competition not just match it. Sadly I don't know if Dermot Mannion is the right man to achieve those things.

  • I had my doubts about Dermot Mannion but Aer Lingus is investing in updated products, new routes, new aircraft and he is also trying to push forward cost cuts that will lower fares, improve staff morale which was very low during Willie Walsh.

  • I just hope all the things you say come true. I think Willie was the right man at the right time, I honesty believe he saved the airline from going under, so we need to give him credit for that. His actions at the time were an absolute necessity and have helped put Aer Lingus on a much better financial footing. Simply put 7,000 people cannot make a living off of 30 aircraft, so you either have high fares or a lower number of staff.

  • Long-haul is the challenge and the first steps have been made by DM to improve long-haul for the passengers which include the big order for 12 aircraft and introduction of lie flat seats in premier, AVOD in both classes with hours of entertainment and hopefully a new meal service. These are just the first steps for improvement for the future at Aer Lingus.

  • Which planes have the tv's in the headrests ????? Or is it just business class that has them ??

  • Only one aircraft, a long haul A330-200 registered EI-DAA has TVs in economy class. Although a new aircraft was delivered this week with an even better cabin, seats and TVs. Soon another plane will arrive with the same new TVs so three aircraft will have TVs. So next time you fly Aer Lingus look out for EI-DAA, EI-DUO and EI-DUZ!

  • the a300s

  • ONLY JOKING I WORK FOR THEM PRETTY COOL

  • lol thanks, I know a few people who work for Aer Lingus and I love my flights on EI. What do you do at Aer Lingus if you dont mind me asking?
