  • I think what is more "male" and "manly" than that constant pumping of the waves crashing in! Good job,I think u are really on to something! Love your vids! You are so feminine and pretty...( off topic ;) )

  • I really liked this video, I am a Hellenist and a devotee of Poseidon, Amphitrite and their children. I think it's interesting to note the loving relationship they had with one another. She rarely (if ever) displayed jealousy and was often loving towards his children by other women. Olivia a great site to use for your project if you focus on other Hellenic Gods is Theoi (.com) If you go to the Cult title section, that's how the Ancients worshiped the Gods.

  • @PriestessofAthena Thank you, that's really great coming from you! Theoi is actually a site I went on :) x

  • I think you did a great job with this! Even if some Hellenists don't believe the myths to be true I still think its important to learn and share that knowledge. There's a lot to learn from those myths. Great job! I have always loved your videos no matter where my spiritual journey takes me

  • @CelticMoonRayne25 Thank you!! x

  • Rape isn't uncommon with Greek gods, but the rape of Medusa is interesting given the background. Poseidon and Athena had some bad blood between them of course. One of Athena's major characteristics was her virginity, so Poseidon raping Medusa in Athena's temple may have also been meant as a strike at Athena. Athena is said to have had to cover her virgin eyes so as not to see Poseidon's violation, which suggests that it may have been an act of force against both Athena as well as Medusa.

  • Some books I recommend are the two I'm using to learn about the Gods and Goddesses.

Mythology :an encyclopedia of gods and legends from ancient Greece and Rome, the Celts and the Norselands by Arthur Cotterell

    and

Magick of the Gods and Goddesses by D.J. Conway

  • I have the same problem you do but since I'm a guy it's vice-verse. It's easier for me to connect to gods then goddesses.

I think it's due to not understanding the opposite gender and I think this 12 Gods and Goddess project is a great way to understand the Gods. One thing I suggest is that you try to do most of your research from books rather then the internet

  • Here in Gothenburg, Sweden, we've got a big fountain with Poseidon in the center of the city (You can google "Poseidon Gothenburg" if you'd like to see pictures of the fountain. It's quite nice!). He's like the icon of this city. When I was a child I jumped into the fountain and bathed in the water because I thought it was so hot outside that day. Haha! Since that day I've had a bit of a special connection with Poseidon. He's really a kind but very masculine god, I feel.

  • I was watching Percy Jackson, and I was doing some Medusa research, and the line "I used to date your daddy" came up towards Percy, who is son of Poseidon. At the same time, I came along a line in one where it said Medusa desecrated Athena's temple by laying with Poseidon. You said that he may've carried her off, and the term rape was used, and that line made me think that is what the rape myth meant. I thought I'd share that with you.

  • Oh yeah. I can relate to Osiris. Iv just started out working with a god and goddess and slowly adding more to my list as I go deeper into the path. But man, when I was having a problem chooseing Osiris took me under his wing and took me in. He is very fatherly and loving. I love your vedios and find it very helpful for me as Im at the begianing when it comes to work with sertan gods and goddesses. Keep up with the good work! Bless be! <3

  • I heard he destroyed a boulder to prove his might to the city of Athens, and then Athena gave the olive tree to them.

  • Excellent installment to the series. Showing respect, perfect. Some people "use" the gods and forget that the adoration and respect is more important than personal intention.

Looking forward tot he the next vid!

  • This is a wonderful idea- I believe I'm going to start doing research on Gods and Goddesses since I have no currant alignments, Other then the Goddess Moon. (The Goddess Moon to me is The originator, and though other gods exist, I see her as our beginning.) I have some very negative things happening in my life- and I believe finding alignments may give me something to draw on when I attempt to banish this evil in the future. Thank you very much- Blessed Be. <3

  • @stars11234 so did virgin...please explain more

  • neptune/poseiden watery realms of the subconcious trident protects agsainst mental physical and emotional/astral harm

  • @1010bree poseiden's gift represented sea power, naval ability important to athens

  • in my very humble opinion, I think some ancient societies didn't truly...what's the word I'm looking for...understand that women are sexual beings with very real sexual needs and desires and so the way they would understand a woman "being" with a man who wasn't her husband was in the context of rape. Just my two cents, for what it's worth. BB )O(

  • For some odd reason, I seem to only be able to connect with the encompassing notion of the Goddess and God instead of their incarnations. I am really excited to be studying the gods you've chosen along side you. Do you think you could maybe give advice on meditation to meet these gods? Thanks and Bless'd Be

  • This was wonderful. Its good to meet and learn about gods even if you don't connect strongly with them. The Goddess I chose for this month, Harmonia, is like that for me.

  • Are you going to do only the Olympian Gods or are you going to to the Titans as well?

  • Thank you :)

  • @stars11234 Yes, that is exactly why I didn't want to take it in the literal modern terms. x

  • I wish you had not focused on the myths that Hellenists don't accept as true and more on who Poseidon is and experiences that His worshipers have had with him.

  • @PriestChristopher I tried my best with the resources that I had.

  • Thanks for sharing this! I can definitely say I relate to Posiedon- my patron goddess is Yemaya (of the Yoruba tradition) and she is a sea goddess. There is nothing more spiritually powerful for me than standing in front of the ocean. I loved your rock idea offering, will have to think of something like that for myself for the future!

  • Also in the Myth of Posiedon's rape of Medusa, I have some insight gained from a small group working with her. Its thought that Medusa was a foreign Goddess and also the mother of Athena. She was a protectress of sacred womens rites such as sex, menstration and childbirth. Her image was made to frighten away men from her temples. It is thought that Greek myth rewrote her history, disempowering her through rape and then demonising her by her own daughter rewritten as the child of Zeus.

  • @MotherMoon333 Unfortunately I did not have time to learn about Medusa, which I would have liked to so I did not venture far in learning about their relationship and her role. I just read over myths of the 'rape'. x

  • Just as an FYI I wanted to state the the Goddess Hekate is a Goddess of the sea. Being a Titan/Foreign Goddess she had imense power and domain including Earth, Sky and Sea...the underworld associations came from the Demeter Myth later. I was saying this because her oceanic qualities match well with Posiedon and you may find this beneficial in your time with them.

    Blessings

  • @MotherMoon333 I have just learnt that she was a Goddess of land, sea and sky too :) Although I haven't been working with her in this way this time. x

  • I don't have an issue connecting to both genders of Gods. I think it's important to realise a Male God does not equal man human. Just as, just because you are feminine or female, that is not the same as a Goddess. A Goddess is not a woman, she is more than that. Gods are more than men. The Genders are only just a loose extrapolation. Just as we re-incarnate as both sexes throughout the years, Gods and Goddesses are not exactly set genders.

  • @SurprisedOwl Something for me to explore in good time. x

  • My first month has been with Nut and Geb. I didn't connect with them very well, but I did get some really nice parental vibes from them on a couple occasions. It was really interesting to go around for a month thinking of the Earth/Sky in different ways than I normally do - Earth Father and Sky Mother instead of vice versa. It was also interesting to read up on Egyptian creation myths and things. Next up for me is Psyche and Eros :)

  • @standabovethecrowd Great to hear that you have been learning abut them, even if you don't really connect to them :) x

  • They say that Heaven and Hell are states of mind, but in actuality, the individual gods/goddesses themselves are the states of mind. Heaven and Hell are just the models that we project them through.

  • Great video. :)

  • Maybe I missed it, but why or how did you chose Poseidon as your first God, as opposed to another?

  • @RainbowMoonHealing I chose Hekate for January and wanted a Greek God to learn about to. I don't connect to many of them so just decided Poseidon would be an interesting one.

  • cant wait for the coming videos :)

  • @stars11234 can you explain more

  • I appreciate how you are able to share your spiritual knowledge through your beautiful videos. Your trip to the beach in order evoke the great God Poseidon gave me a warm tingling experience. Many blessings to you and all yours in this new year

  • In all honesty, this is really interesting. Thank you very much for doing this.

  • Wonderful video! I am SO excited to see your journey with these dieities! Blessed Be!

  • and just btw, i believe he never raped medusa. i believe tht they were having an afaire. and they were, in, uh athenas temple. and all the gods and goddesses, except hera, had many off springs.

  • @cookiemonsterhat99 I'm just learning common mythology and so many sources say rape so that's why I looked into that idea. x

  • poseidon is one of my favorites. but he was never the god of fertility. tht was either hera or aphrodite. and trust me, he was never a bad a guy.

  • @cookiemonsterhat99 No I don't think he was a bad guy at all. But in my view I see any deity who has offspring to have a fertile side, even if he isn't a God Of Fertility.

  • @Pagyptsian

It is believed by some scholars He was originally worshiped as the fertile aspect of all waters.

  • AWESOME!! Loved this video! <3 I like how in the beginning you did a brief history about him, then showed us your experiences with him :) xx

  • I absolutely loved this video! I haven't joined in on the project but seeing/listening to these videos is very educational. I especially loved when you explained your interactions with Poseidon, how it dawned on you that he's always there and that one doesn't have to wait for a sign.

I can't wait to watch every single one of your videos! I love the amount of passion you have in your research and your beliefs.

    Blessed Be )o(

  • @SheWantsLight Thank you!

  • As always, thanks for putting together these videos and sharing with us! It's truly appreciated. Looking forward to the rest of the year! Blessed be. :)
