There are modern day tournaments where SFII is still being played competitively. Mortal Kombat was a fun series, sure, but a lot of its popularity in the 90's comes from gimmicks like Fatalities and digitzed graphics. It was different, like how Sonic was different to Mario in the 90's, but we all know who's the top franchise today.

@WebVMan I admire your creativity, but, in all honesty, most (not counting Bison and co.) of the street Fighters would be against the slaughter of another fighter. Most of the MK Kombatants are malcious killing machines that have even defied the obstacle of death to achieve resurrection and revival (Look up Liu Kang, Scorpion, Onaga, Drahmin). I'm a fan of both games but I feel piledrivers, energy blasts and random punchs and kicks just don't add up to broadswords, daggers, and soul devouring.
I miss it too. A lot. But there are moments every now and then when its like it never left. I find them when my lil nephew tares into a new video game :)

@MegaDjmatt LOL back in the 90's at the hight of the SF/MK popularity, there use to be a rumor of such a game.It was just a rumor of course but as kids we really had hope that such a game would be released lol.Who knows tho,anything is possible.Now we have games by SEGA for Nintendo consoles featuring Sonic & Mario.

@MegaDjmatt Honestly, if Street Fighter teamed up with Mortal Kombat...I doubt any of the "World Warriors" would survive the onslaught. Why even bother performing a hadouken when a single MK uppercut could knock an opponent's head off?

@NarugaDenka In regards to Hadoukens vs Daggers, you missed the point completely. The significance of dodging either the Hadouken or Scorpion's Dagger spear does not dictate which projectile would be more fatal. In my opinion, a rough, jagged piece of weaponry sent hurling through the air at a rapid speed that would pierce a fragile organ is much more deadly than a quick energy blast. In regards to casuality, this is off topic and "casually" also insignificant. Happy new year, take care.

Hmm, has anyone here been stabbed in the chest and then pulled in with great force by a sharp metal blade on a rope or hit by a giant fireball generated from some man's hand? No? Well then yeah, this topic IS pretty retarded then. Sorry I was looking at it from game perspective and not realistically. I'd have to agree with the harpoon bit being more fatal honestly. @StockRoom209 and there wouldn't be any Hadoukens of any kind if Midway didn't revolutionize the video game industry with Pac-Man or Space Invaders. Midway might not have thrown the first punch, but, it was there from the very beginning laying the brick work for the battle soon to come.

@StockRoom209 You are just scratching the surface. The heart of modern techology stems from Military development. The very first legit computer game came out during the late 1940's and was inspired by actual Military Radar equipment. Then again, it doesn't really matter who came first. You see, competition is a good thing.without it..who knows just how obsolete SF would have become with no challenge?Creating the same crap over and over and over again led to the video game crash afterall.

Ah, come on! You know Blanka could electrocute an opponent to death, Zangief would spin and knock their torso off, Ryu would knock a torso off with an uppercut, E. Honda would slap you til you exploded, Chun Li would Spinning Bird Kick your upper body off, Dhalsim would roast you, Guile would Flash Kick your body in half, Fei Long would combo you to a pulp, Cammy would kick your head off, DJ would combo you to death, T. Hawk would flatten you, and the bosses would kill you too of course...

@WebVMan I admire your creativity, but, in all honesty, most (not counting Bison and co.) of the street Fighters would be against the slaughter of another fighter. Most of the MK Kombatants are malcious killing machines that have even defied the obstacle of death to achieve resurrection and revival (Look up Liu Kang, Scorpion, Onaga, Drahmin). I'm a fan of both games but I feel piledrivers, energy blasts and random punchs and kicks just don't add up to broadswords, daggers, and soul devouring.

Street Fighter was slow, the controls SUCK, and two of the charectors I have the same exact moves. WTF. To make it worst in the latter games more charectors have same exact moves as the other ones even they already have two charectors with same moves already.
