this is norwegian, but if you cant play this cause of a shitty pc, go download left 4 dead pixelforce for free on your pc! it is 8 bit and 2d but still has fun gameplay and a good level of stuff to make you jump out of your seat in and instance. It is worth downloading for people with a shitty computer, but for the rest of us keep it for left 4 dead

@LordOfSandbox me 2. Have done all the campains on expert, got l4d2 as well, done a campain on expert realism there. It was really hard o.O Took a shit load of time and even the best would think it's hard. Shotguns in the first game was overpowered though. I'd wish that it was more possible to survive if if you were alone, cus if all the others die you are screwed if you don't watch out....

L4D 1 on PC shits all over L4D 2 on the 360 graphically! its light years ahead of even gears and gears2 on the 360 in terms of graphics! proof how last gen and outdated the 360 is of course its no surprise M$!! other than the wii the 360 is the most unreliable and outdated gaming platform this generation! i guarantee u that L4D 1 on PC will even look better than gears 3! mark my words!

You need to upgrade to DDR3 (thus getting a new mobo). Or, at least get something like an ATI Radeon HD 5830 graphics card.

I'm able to run ALL source games (even l4d2) on their maximum framerate of 60 FPS nonstop on this system:

AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition (not OC'd)

ASRock N68-S mobo

ATI Radeon HD 5830

4 GB of DDR2 RAM (i'll have the brand and clock later)

@Crazyalbokid1 Well, that's a bit of a push. You'd probably have to tone down the graphics settings on the game a lot in order to make it playable. You should think about a complete system upgrade, or at least buying a new graphics card and more RAM until you can afford a new mobo and CPu.

Anyway, I'm guessing you're running Windows XP, so there shouldn't be that many background processes running, but go into task manager and end everything you don't need to conserve RAM and CPU usage.

No chance, a pentium 4 @ 3ghz is like a core 2 at 1ghz:P This game benifits from a modern cpu, even a quad core. Those are like 89 dollars at frys with motherboard these days, hell 2 days ago a 3 core athlon 2 + motherboard was 40 dollars at frys. In any case, it wouldn't run, portal wouldn't run on that system.

No, there is almost no difference in speed between ddr2/3 on low/mid end systems, only at high range does ddr3 make a difference at all. Cpu speed and gpu speed matter far more, ram speed only nets you that last ~4% of speed boost if you buy premium.

nice video, i got more or less the same spec machine as you, meaniung same cpu, graphics card, and same speed memory. i noticed you was playing at you moniters maximum resolution which im guessing was 17- 19 inch. but since you have the 4870 x2 i suggest the next upgrade u get is a moniter that can do 1900 x 1080 or higher as thats when u will see the 4870 x2 give you your moneys worth
