COPY, COPY, COPY, COPY... Why do the American imitate and remake successful foreigner movies instead of using ONLY their own creativity? QUARENTINE COPIED the Spanish REC. 7 Men and 1 Destiny copied 7 Samurai. Power Rangers copied the colorful Japanese heroes from the 80s. Dark Water, The Ring, The Grudge, One Missing Call (I think this is the name), Premonition... ALL copied from Japan. And the 2 Sisters is a copy from a Korean movie. These are only the ones I know, there should be a lot more.

@Bruno1986BR You don't realize a lot of the things you listed had the same directors in Japan as they did in America. They just remade it so that an American audience would be able to identify with it. Many Americans don't seek out Foreign films so they are unfamiliar with movies until they come to the American screen. So directors remake them in English so that it is easier for them to identify with.

After watching this trailer, there is literally no reason to watch the movie. What you see here? The monologue is how it opens... the creepy lady is the only real intense part in the middle... and the main girl getting dragged off is how it ends. It's just dragged out over an hour and a half instead of a minute and a half. Save your time.

I wonder if Hollywood will do REC 2. It'll be interesting to see as in the American version the main story is based on a virus instead of a religious issue. I guess Hollywood was afraid to poke at religion. In REC 2, the entire plot is persuing the religious angle. Also, it's interesting to see the way the Spaniards are putting Hollywood writers and productions to shame. Thank God there are foreign films otherwise we'd be subjected to a non stop process of cheesy remakes.

@gessIsRaunchy I've only ever seen it subtitled, so that's definitely colored my point of view. In the end of REC they listen to a recording that outright states the cause of the infection is demonic possession. Also, a general difference in budget would attract more people to one than the other.

I suppose what I mean to say is that it's easier for mainstream America to enjoy a movie about Americans than it is for them to enjoy one about Europeans. I'm sure the reverse is true.
