The character in the film : A blind young beggar girl sings this song... praying to the mother goddess asking for Her protection. In the song she also expresses her life and questions the world.

This song was shot for one of the last scenes of the film. But unfortunately it was not included in the film. But the exclusion didn't stop it from becoming one of the most famous song of the era!

While recording the original song in 1976 S.janaki couldn't sing the 3rd stanza because the lyric has upsetted her.Every one was stunned!!!!!!.But this song by Sadhana Sargam is just exquisite!!!!.

I wish ilayaraaja recreates all the hit oldies as the recording and the sound quality is just Fabulous which the present generation should be able to enjoy it.
