  • Meh. I wish I had more songs like sleazy bed track

  • Zzzzzzzzzzz yawn another shit indi group

  • I'm constantly amazed when people tell me they like, or even "love" this band or this song. It's not bad per se, it's just so very, very . . . bland.

  • @tonebenderx You left the same comment 2 years ago ... away with your bluetonephobia !

  • 6 DISLIKES??? REALLY?????

    Cretins.

  • reminds me of when I lived in sheffield lost my job and my man and was on my way home on the train listening to this album on my walkman lol Still put this song on if im feeling down always makes me feel better. thanks bluetones great music!

  • Amazing.

  • The guitarist went to my old school in west-london... what a shit school. But a great song very underrated

  • Jools Holland hasnt aged one bit..

  • Great British band

  • Currently sadly on their farewell tour :(

  • Top 10 best songs of the 90s. Nil confidence performace, though.

  • @twattybollock that was their style - gentle. Good Song, although I was never a fan of the band

  • It's a shame that this is the last tour they are doing! Roll on Manchester 9th Sept for final gig there!

  • Fucking awesome

  • saw them at cockrock in July awesome band shame this is there last summer touring shame they were great live

  • I like it! (Y) marv. fabs.

  • they played Northumbria Uni as top act on NME Bratbus tour, supported by girl punk band Fluffy, and a very new Cardigans. Brilliant nights music. Bluetones were amazing.

  • Saw these in Newcastle years ago at Northumbria Uni, 100-150 ppl in the crowd. Support band were Super Furry Animals ... it's only years later when you realise just how great that fucking gig was .....

  • Hehe Oasis fans are funny. It's like my old grandad raving about the Shadows and Telstar.

  • Bluetones were/are Bluetones...Oasis were/are Oasis..

    Cant see much similarity myself...

  • sounds like a stone roses track

  • bad copy of MARVELOU OASIS.

  • finishing behind spaceman in the charts highlights how fucked up alot of ppl were in the nineties.

  • miss my teenage years in the 90's...... songs got meanings,

unlike today, ---- tik tok song.... what the hell....!!

  • God i wish i could go back to those days

  • I actually saw these guys live in Bingley a few years ago now...

  • dont mean to be sarcastic and all, in fact i am the biggest fan and still miss the 90s but sometimes i wonder if was all Noel Rock.....

  • yes they DO look so young! I was in me forties when this was released, doing a parttime NVQ in catering...

    amazing sounds, great britpop!

  • They all look SO young! :O

  • i want that coat!

  • only 12 or something odd years ago.

where the fuck did the tme go????

  • great song one of the finest songs ever writen

  • Mark Morriss has the stance of an early Tim Burgess

  • Must have been the single Jazzman as it predated the album.

  • this ones hit but BRITPOP at its best.. And I kinda like britpop.. as long it istn take that

  • love this tune, saw bluetones twice in the mid 90's at the uea in norwich. skivving off school the next day because of a big hangover!!!!

  • I remember speding like 3 hours downloading this music from Napster - and it was worth every second.

  • welcome to indie club nice

  • 1:13 looks soooo like ian brown

  • Someone need to start a facebook campaign to get bluetones to number 1, as this just missed out in 96', Slight Return to Xmas Number one should be the slogan.

  • Thanks for posting, by the way...!

  • Christ! This takes me back! Don't write them like this these days. Whatever happened to the Bluetones!

  • A MASSIVE COUP FOR THE DURHAM:LIVE, The brand new live venue in Durham City.

This is the FIRST, Gig in the New Tour: A NEW ATHENS

    Mark Morris (Lead Singer) Said....

"This one-off gig is the perfect opportunity for the band to blend some of our more well known son...gs with new and relatively un-blooded tracks from the forthcoming album A NEW ATHENS.

And, after a couple of years spent largely apart, celebrate the fact that it is, again, business as usual for the BLUETONES"

  • Makes me feel old, that year was amazing for Brit Pop ! Bands from everywhere in UK !

  • Ha, just looked at your age and now I feel old too!

  • coat-tails of the roses?i adore them but they did not invent this sound.what about the byrds?

  • exactly

  • Only decent thing they did although they ripped all the lyrics more or less verbatim from a soul song. And liverpool fans from, what was it Hounslow, as they say darn sarf, do me a favour.

Liked this though, liked the original video as well. Promised a lot and like that horrid team he supports produced so little recently.

  • the bluetones were amazing xxxxxx

  • this is one of my fav tracks ever.i played this cassette single till it chewed up and i still play it on my mp3 on the to work xxxxxxxx....play it loud !!!

  • does anyone remember? did slight return make it at number 2 in the uk singles chart or at number 1? cant remeber at all..i remember i liked that track a lot back then...pure class!

  • The album Expecting to Fly did reach number 1 but I'm not sure about Slight Return.

  • Slight Return charted at number 2 in February 1996, behind Babylon Zoo's "Spaceman"

  • @tonedrunk i bought this, still got it on tape somewhere, never heard of punk at this point, i was also into blur

  • @tonedrunk That was a good year for music. I loved/love both those songs!

  • mikey11, fuck me dressing in a parker, he must wannabee Noel G!! Dickhead!! Since when were Oasis they only band to wear parkas? Does that make Oasis The Who wannabees?

  • Try riding on the coattails of the Roses and you might be onto a winner. This is far from your basic 3 chords, bridge, solo structure of an Oasis song.

  • that's not a parka mate

  • hahahaha no there not you dumb ass there more influenced by the roses charlatans by the sound of it

  • a parka???? more like a nice kagool. as for the rest of your comment, ridiculous.

  • Mikey, next time, best ask somebody that has a wee bit of knowledge before spouting pish.

    Parker - haha!

  • I remember this song, bloody good as well, I miss music like this!!

  • get my best old memories back!!!

  • What happend to the music scene? music is so commercialised now, there seems to be a new no 1 every week. Full of reality tv fuck wits. music back in the early mid 90s was honest and required a bit of talent. bands such as suede, longpigs cast, oasis, blur shed seven etc, those days are gone, but they will never be forgotten. In fact i might dig out my check ben sherman shirt, and whack on a few cds.

  • @PUMPKIN1080 :) awesome, I know what you mean - I saw an episode of 'Sweet 16' at my Chinese takeaway where the spoiled one's had hired Kula Shaker and no-one had heard of their songs - I dispair...

  • @PUMPKIN1080 spot on mate the mid 90s was the last time there anything cool decent and honest

  • @PUMPKIN1080 so so true!!!

  • @PUMPKIN1080 I logged on just to +1 this comment

  • @PUMPKIN1080 The record companies and their obsession with profit happened. It's easy to sell commercial, over produced rehashed pop crap by talentless nobodies to the indoctrinated masses than to invest in a an artist who will want creative control over their work and thus demand a higher percentage of the profits. The record companies are killing artistic expression.

  • @PUMPKIN1080 - Fecking Simon Cowell happened... The man who gave us hits from Sonia, Robson & Jerome, Sinnita, and Zig & Zag is, somehow, now in charge of the music industry. Like you I'm off to look out some old cds.

  • @PUMPKIN1080 my thoughts exactly. it's all shitty dance routines nowadays. it'll pick up in 20 years hang in there!

  • Keep the faith PUMPKIN; commercialized pap has always been with us. As a young teenager, asked my father were the 60s amazing? In 1968, turning on the radio, did all this brilliance come tumbling out? Nope, he said - there was all this boring middle of the road music pop, and you would rarely if ever hear Hendrix or Joni Mitchell or even a controversial Beatles track. History has filtered out the crap and left us with the diamonds. There is good music now - you just have to dig a little

  • Lead singer is flippin gorgeous

  • LOVES THEM!!!! XXX

  • and the giutarist has a nice rickenbacker..

  • the cockney roses

  • brownie used to call these the "bluetone roses" debut was good though....!

  • God how bad was fashion in the 90's... But what a fucking decade and what an amazing track. Miss the 90's big time...

  • That's funny because my brother and I were talking about how normal they were dressed, unlike the guys with the skinny jeans and eyeliner of today. lol

  • me too mate, everything seemed to flow and was right.

  • very roses, even the ropey singing

  • THERE DA BEST LIVE!

  • roses sound!

  • what is this song about?

  • Don't think Mark Morriss ever mentioned the meaning of this song in interviews, but I suppose it's about a reclusive friend/ex. Sky Will Fall has a similar theme.

  • Christian was the singer of bluetones

  • He looks like a young Ray Davies...Great tune, great band...

  • one of the best tunes of the nineties - certainly in top 5

  • Singer looks like Christian Bale the guy who plays Batman.

  • Classic ! 5*

  • excelente

  • Great song! They are playing at Darwen Live (a free festival) on Sunday 25th May. Also featuring Peter Tork, Eddie & The Hotrods and Goldblade. Can't take your own beer but the bar prices are cheap enough.

  • Ugh. Brit-pop at its most mediocre. All the elements are there, but they miss the mark completely.

  • Fuck You

  • What kind of stuff are you into then Cunt-Fuck?

  • The best one hit wonders of all time

  • This was their most famous hit and their only No. 1 single, but they had so many other great tunes as well, like Marblehead Johnson, If and Soloman Bites the Worm! Great band and very underrated! :-)

  • Who's the kid on the Rickenbacer? I want to sign him!

  • That, Sir, is Adam Devlin. This clip is 10yrs old and he still looks about 16 now!

  • Being from the States, I have never seen this live performance until now, but I love this song. Brings back so many memories of those wonderful 'Britpop' days!
