  • two brilliant masters together, not often you capture lighting in a bottle. I have just got thru watching everything Buster ever did, going to start seeking out all the stuff i can find on Chaplain now. Just love watching their timing and brilliance.

  • what is that song he plays on the violin!?!?

  • Masterpiece!

  • Avanguardia_Avant-Garde_Vanguardia_Vanguard

  • What is the music that they are playing????

  • Wundervoll,Charlie Chaplin und Buster Keaton, zwei große Komiker!

    Angélique Duvier,Schauspielerin

  • We Loved the, and No one was hurt...There was Only Laughter. Pure Laughter

  • genius + genius = timeless.

  • Il y a-t-il des mots pour décrire deux tels génies du cinéma?

  • OH YES HE IS!!!!

  • the piano man IS NOT BUSTER KEATON !!!

  • charlie chaplin is a retarded hitler

  • Maybe it wasThe Book of Lists... This was a Chaplin movie and while Chaplin was good, Keaton was GREAT!!! Chaplin had it edited down to balance the brilliance.

  • So... Hillarious...

the facial expressions alone... have me wailing on the floor

do you see Charlies face when he tries to shake out his shorter leg...

    LOL...

    Hillarious..

    :)

  • watched this last night.. Keaton is Actor of the month on TCM.. showing his movies every sunday..

  • That is certainly not Buster Keaton at the piano. It looks like Groucho Marx, but it's probably just someone posing as Groucho.

Chaplin was indeed an accomplished violinist and composed scores to several of his movies. I didn't remember that he played left-handed, though.

  • @hummingbear88 That most certainly is Buster.

And yes, Chaplin was a lefty not a righty.

  • That is certainly not Buster Keaton at the piano. It looks like Groucho Marx.

  • @hummingbear88 Of course that is Buster Keaton at the Piano!!!! This is a later film for both of them. They are playing old vaudeville partners reunited on stage for a performance ---in the movie "Limelight" Groucho duzint look like this at all!! Nor did he ever wear a disguise in a movie---ever----Sorry to nerd out on you like that but yur just wrong!!

  • 6 people disliked this because their legs actually get shorter when they walk.

  • Maravillosos!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT!!!!

  • Was Chaplin really playing that violin, or was the sound dubbed in?

  • I lost it when charlie's foot kept getting shorter.

  • This is the closet I can get to see heaven because two great comedians of the slient era in a flim together,oh my.

  • DOS REALMENTE EMINENCIAS....GENIOS EN TODA LA EXPRESION PERO MAS SIR. CHARLES CHAPLIN...¡¡¡

  • Why even bother comparing these two they are both brilliant, personally I think the great Stan Laurel is worth a mention, that funny bastard has made me laugh so hard at times I thought I was gonna die, especially in High Society when he and Ollie TOTAL a guys house while he strips their car to bits, that was fuckfunny, check it out if you missed that gem. It allways come down to personal preferance.

  • Both of these artists are genial and the changed my humor forever

  • now this is PLAIN comedy, WITHOUT them talking, yelling or swearing like there is today!! funniest show on the planet!! :P

  • so inspiring work

  • funniest fucking show EVER! :P

  • whats the episope called where he goes to sit down on a chair n charlie takes it away n the guy (who wus going to sit in the chair) falls backwards through a hole in the floor and lands in the tub of icing in the kitchen?

  • I M M E N S I

  • Now that's really pulling something out of your ass!

  • wow

  • Pure genius

  • Happy Birthday Charlie

  • six people have no sense of humor and a total misunderstanding of cinema

  • natalo ba si charli chaplin ?

  • fuckin mad man

  • it's simply briliant briliant briliant! what a fantastic scene!!!

  • atratosferici....

  • Did Chaplin himself the violin here? I am aware of the fact that Chaplin was an accomplished violinist and composer.

  • I LOVE it!!! I's fantastic!!! XD !!

  • aww - i wish there was more focus on buster. i love it, though!!!

  • They're so tiny!

  • Simply amazing, the two very best. I prefer Buster Keaton myself but no doubt Chaplin was amazing as well.

Love how they were so well-prepared, Buster with a wire-cutter and Chaplin with a spare violin lol

  • Thank you for this great scene.

  • Sem dúvida o melhor artista que o cinema já viu. Charlie Chaplin, incomparável. THE BEST.

  • Remember that Chaplin also directed, produced, wrote and played most of the scores of his films. Utterly brilliant. City Lights remains my all time favorite film.

  • Wow, Charlie is the first I have ever seen who plays with left hand

  • Two geniuss....

  • The greatest comedians of all time along with Totò.

  • oh god oh god this was such a pleasure to see, i mean charlie chaplin and buster keaton together!! theyre both AMAZING!

  • WHERE'S HAROLD LLOYD??!!

  • CHAPLIN was the Greatest artist of all time....

  • two genius... brilhant!!! chaplin buster and loyd, genius...

  • 6:53 lol XD EPIC WIN for him!!!!!

  • Two brilliant artists who have revolutionized cinematography!

  • 5:15

Lolz XD, why didn't I see that coming!!!

  • j'adore tout simplement . Merci Mrs Chaplin et keaton pour ce moment de plaisir

  • Two masters, two different styles, working together in perfect harmony. Chaplin's persona makes the mess, and Keaton's put-upon persona has to deal with the mess made by those around him. Beautiful.

  • Mr. Stoneface and the little men with the big heart Im lovin it ... <3

  • must see

  • Wow, the begining of the violin music sounded like one of the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of TIme ingame musics! o_0

  • wheres chaplin in this?

  • Love them both dearly!!! Man I wish we had this kind of talent in today's generation!!!

  • This movie blends humor, happiness and sorrow so beautifully you don't know where one ends and the other begins :(

  • Isn't that Marx as opposed to Keaton?

  • @Middlewolf Agree with you . He is not Keaton but Grouch Marx .

But even the movie is funny, i find sad that nobody make the difference .

  • Comment removed

  • @malicie1

I am familiar with Buster Keaton and thought you were right. But no, sorry.

  • @Middlewolf

That's what I would have thought but apparently not. Groucho Marx wasn't in the movie. And the scene is famous as the only one where Chaplin and Keaton were together on film (see Wikipedia).

  • TCM is a good channel, at times. We get it down here in New Zealand on Sky Digital.

  • if you like to see the history of movies watch *BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy

  • Chaplin>Buster to a million times times a million ;)

  • regend of regends

  • it's silly to try to say which is better... better at what? they both did very different things, and they were both brilliant

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOL OMG

  • the short leg thing is something very difficult to maje it look real. This is completly awesome and just a mater in comedy can do that. The simple way Buster make us laugh is just a miracle to watch.

  • Genious to me... but this is not a good sketch. Completly failed.

  • @caballocalco

    What?

  • I mention Chaplin and Keaton in The Celebrity Song.

  • lezione di comicita'...tutto comincia da qui

  • The short leg gag seems simple at first, but honestly I have no idea how Chaplin did it so convincingly.

I adore both these guys. I wish Chaplin had kept more of the scenes he had shot with Buster, but I understand the reasoning for taking them out. Maybe someday outtakes will be found.

  • Love it. ... . Tory from Austin Texas. Singer songwriter musician. Check out my originals and subscribe if you like. Please listen to my own original .. The Little Tramp..a tribute to Charlie Chaplin. Namaste

  • Where's Buster Keaton

  • I prefer Chaplin, but Keaton was still a genius.

  • Enorme !!!!!! merveilleux moment

  • holy shit he's missing 6 inches of his leg! only chaplin could think of this stuff

  • Genius x 2 !

  • MASTER PIECE - ETERNAL HUMAN FOLLY -

    Magnificent - Bravo -

    Touche'

  • I remember being a teenager and watching a Buster Keaton marathon on cable. Personally I prefer him to CC.

  • why pick just one?! both were amazing!

  • Peronsally Keaton makes me laugh more, and I feel is craft is a bit more unique, but I can't say one is better than the other. Both are such genious artists. Even Chaplin and Keaton always said the other was just as good as themselves. In regards to who is more famous...in pop culture I would say Charlie hands down, he's on sesame street for crying out loud, and for sure his name screams "silent films" but in the art world perhaps Buster is more likely mentioned. Love em both!

  • Genios!!

  • All my favs for the young 1900's Chaplin Keaton and the 3 stooges

  • This was only part of many funny performances mainly played by Keaton as James Agee missed.

  • The two greats. I only wish they could have done more films together.

  • Charlie Chaplin Jr. went to school with my uncle at Black-Foxe Military Institute, in Hollywood. A lot of the stars sent their sons there, as they could be boarded while their parents were on location and such. My uncle was a day tripper and in the band on a trumpet scholarship. My mom used to dance with Charlie Jr. at school functions, when the stars would also show up. She has some old photos from those days.

  • when it was?

  • 1952

  • oye pero yo no se si son ellos de verdad, auque no lo sean me he muerto de risa con ellos!!!!jajajaja

suscribios a mi canal o enviadme algun comntario

  • buster keaton looks like groucho marx

  • I prefer Buster's humor. Deadpan, non-pandering, completely natural. And he was the better director. Chaplin influenced film more. But Keaton has proved to be the comedian's comedian. Everyone from Mel Brooks to Monty Python to the SNL crowd hold him as the best silent comedian.

  • i prefer chaplin..

  • Thats fine. I just like to defend Buster because Chaplin is famously preferred

  • well i love Buster too !! i just haven't seen as many of his movies. i think stars of that era really were all round great performers and took so much risk and were even great athletes to be able to perform all those stunts and prat falls effortlessly. i guess now a days with technology that art form is lost. so i am in awe everytime i watch silent movies with these great actors. and i think buster is more liked today 'cause of his stone face, ppl think chaplin is outdated. but i disgree.

  • @foxpawz Totally agree with you about technology. Stunts are kind of a dying art. Its all a matter of preference, but I hope you get a chance to see more of Buster's films because he was very ahead of his time : )

  • oh yes. i know Buster did all those elaborated brilliant stunts...i need to see his movies for sure. ive only seen clips on youtube ...

  • umm i prefer chaplin and i have to disagree with you. in my opinion, ur statement is reversed. for me it is, "I just like to defend Chaplin because Buster is famously preferred."

out of chaplin and keaton, i NEVER hear anyone mention the former. pl are always talking about keaton.

  • Thats weird. Growing up where I'm from, people always associate silent comedy with Chaplin and have no idea who Buster Keaton is. Film buffs do love to mention his name because he is more obscure. I just know that his influence on film is much smaller than Chaplin's. So I like to sing his praises. You can turn to any old sitcom or movie and see people acting like Charlie. But few comedians have saluted Buster's style of comedy

  • Well, if you need to see someone who constantly pays homage to Keaton, check out JACKIE CHAN

  • @LTopomcFly Agree Chaplin was a bigger deal than Keaton in the UK possibly because Chaplin is British. People only ever talk about The General whereas with Chaplin they talk about the Great Dictator, The Circus, Limelight and Modern Times. I guess it's like Ali, he wasn't the best boxer, but his times made him the best. Chaplin and Hitler is like Ali and Apartheid. Apparently Hitler saw Great Dictator twice. Wonder why he went back the second time?

  • That's because few can.

  • They were geniuses! Everyone who has followed has just been a pale imitation!!

  • I don't know why people think they have to choose one over the other; they both made silent comedies but had different interests and strengths. Chaplin liked to blend pathos with his comedy and was a perfectionist with regard to performances.Keaton's stunts involved more risk and he was something of a mechanical genius--see the house in One Week or the camera tricks in Sherlock Jr. Chaplin was unmatched in close up and Keaton excelled when fighting objects or the elements. Both were brilliant.

  • @chomsky88

So So Very Very True! Impossible to choose. Rediculous to try!

  • @chomsky88

Is Right! But I still FUCKING HATE NOAM CHOMSKY!! ;^) Ha ha.

  • @chomsky88 could not agree more. Well said!

  • Haha that made me laught so hard I was crying!!!!! I love Charlie Chaplin!!!!! BUster Keton rocks too!!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful !

  • That poor piano! D:

  • It isn't a waste, it's absolutely brilliant. how could you possibly say that! it was fantastic! amazing! brilliant! hilarious!

  • How can i comment for them, they were really jenous charlie circle salutes them, hats off for Buster Keton and Sir charls Chaplin.

  • chaplin hired keaton for the shoot. according to those who were there, they worked easily together and kept a curious eye on each other. the finished scene is good by anyone's standards, yet neither seem to be doing their strongest work. my favourite moment is keaton' swivel-chair pratfall.

  • 7 minutes of keaton and chaplin. wonderful.

  • Great! All without Words. Wonderful Actors

  • Wonderful to see the 2 greatest masters of slapstick in the history of cinema in a scene together. (Though each had done much better shtick in their previous silent films -- especially Keaton.)

  • These two are brill they make me laugh so hard lol XD

  • I love these boys Buster Keaton & Charlie Chaplin! They're legends :P

  • Oh What is this song called i love it to death!

  • they both thought comedy would still be as funny if it were a talkie maybe even better i think so i love keaton and chaplin

  • nivelivecat: this is a super enjoyable scene words are useless here, besides both Chaplin and Keaton are just beyond plain dialogues!

  • This movie was made in 1952 how come there was no dialogue

  • There was, just not this scene; a little tribute to their past.

  • Chaplin and Keaton came from the Silent film era. They still believed silent acts could be funny. And it could..hehe.

  • 6:38 LOL!!!

  • jejejejejejejeje!

  • to cremington, sorry u got the wrong man, u mentioned a name who starred in a film Bettlejuice, thats not him, the man who was in this film wih charlie was Buster keaton, In film Bettlejuice, it was micheal Keaton

  • thats the greatest thing i have ever watched.

  • LOL,HAHAHA,That it was the funniest music show in history,By the legend made,:)

  • I love Buster Keaton & Charlie Chaplin

  • Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton in the same movie?

I think the universe just exploded.

  • Yes

  • @SergeantLuke This is comedy divided by zero: just when you think it couldn't be done...

  • Que groso cuando se tira el tipo estubo bueno el video

    -manuchame10

  • if you like old movies watch *BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy.

  • que divertido, tengo 12 años, nunca habia visto a estos cómicos, mi abuelo me acompaña y nos reimos juntos.Gracias.

  • whats the name of the song,or was it just made up?

  • chaplin was the best =) Comedy works great without any words

  • Love Calvero !

  • does he really play the violin????

  • carried it with him all his life since he was a boy

  • Yes. He was a self-taught violist.

  • Why does this have a -1? lol! Anyway, yeah, he's just all around awesome.

  • jamàs olvidaré esta escena, creo que del cine me sacaron desmayada......gracias por publicarlo

  • I thought Keaton was good in Bettleljuice

  • They said Buster Keaton was so good in this performance that Chaplin actually cut some shots where the so-called "Stone-face" had the upper-hand in hilarious moments. This could be justified from the fact that this scene is Calvero's great return, and not his sidekick's.

Anyway, both of them are unique and will always be missed. Actually, there's a rumor that WALL-E is actually a robotic version of Keaton with the gestures of Chaplin. Ain't that great?

  • Wonderful.

  • We're kind of weird.

  • TCM<3

  • Omg, those legs...

    And the tuning...

  • Charlie was always best by himself.....But if ever he was to have a partner "DAMN" if it would not be Buster Keaton!!!

    Just Magical

  • their characters complement each other so well! i wish they had done this years earlier

  • THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS!

  • This is the absolute best. Its such a shame they didnt do more movies together.

  • But we are so damned lucky to have You Tube keep much of Chaplin's stuff for us and it'll last forever!

  • That is so true.
