i am from joe-ga. there are plenty of merle and daryl types. i'm one of them, haha. can you people believe HBO turned this show down before amc jumped on it ? i'm glad, amc is legend, it's nice to see scenic Georgia on the big screen, i am surprised more shows and movies aren't filmed here..even though the actors nearly evaporated with the heat.

The opening to this episode with Merle on the roof does a great job at making us sympathize with Merle. I love how this show makes the antagonists out to be human and not just Saturday Morning Cartoons villains.

I meant if he would start sawing between his ring finger and his middle finger, and if he would go down that way until he reached his wrist, and then saw off those two fingers from the side, he would have made his hand slimmer by cutting off two fingers. Yes, true, the size of his wrist would stay the same, but I don't think his wrist was too broad anyway. He only cut off his hand, not his wrist, right?

No he's not. He saved T-Dog and went back with Rick to get Glenn from that gang. He also went out of his way to fall down 100 ft twice, pull an arrow out of his stomach, eating a squirrel and killing too zombies, all before getting grazed in the forehead to look for Sophia. I don't think Merle would have done that.
People like Daryl because of the fact that he started off as an asshole character and developed into an all around compassionate badass.
(1/6) Episode opens with Glenn revealing the presence of the walkers to the rest of the group, who promptly proceed to freak out. Maggie becomes angry with Glenn for not keeping the secret and ruins his hat in retribution. Dale gives Glenn his trademark hat as a replacement. Maggie later makes a plea to Hershel for the group to stay. She and Glenn also have an argument about the walkers, after which they eventually admit their feelings, kiss and make up.
(2/6) Rick and Hershel argue, with Hershel demanding the group leave within a week. Rick uses the my-wife-is-pregnant card, but Hershel's not persuaded. Shane also wants the group to get the hell out of there because of the walkers in the barn, but Rick uses the same excuse to cool him down. However, Shane then becomes convinced that Lori's baby is his.
(3/6) Dale takes off with Shane's guns to hide them in the swamp. Shane tracks him down and demands he give the guns back. Dale points his rifle at him and threatens to shoot. However, he backs down at the last moment, since he has no wish to become like Shane: he reveals that he knows Shane shot Otis and lied about what really happened. Shane heads back to the farm with the guns.
(4/6) Hershel has Rick help him and Jimmy try to fish some walkers out of a nearby pit of quicksand and lead them into the barn with snare poles. He says the group can stay on the farm if they agree not to kill the walkers. They arrive at the farm about the same time Shane emerges from the swamp and hands out guns to other members of the group.
(5/6) Shane sees the snared walkers and goes berserk. He yells at Rick and Hershel as they guide the walkers towards the barn, with the rest of the group and people in the farm looking on. He pulls his sidearm and unloads it in the chest of one of the walkers, demanding to know "Could someone who's alive just take that? Why is it still coming?" Hershel has no answer.
(6/6) He finishes off the walker with a headshot, grabs a nearby pickaxe and breaks open the barn door. Walkers pour out, T-Dog, Daryl, Shane, Glenn, and Andrea form a line and open fire. Once the dust clears, one more walker emerges. Sophia. Rick finally steps up next to the others, pulls his six-shooter and kills Sophia with a shot to the head. End episode.

@moderatelyloud the Saw was too dull for the handcuff. a dull hacksaw cant cut through a handcuff so he had to cut off his hand...he had 2 choices : 1) Cut off his hand , and run / 2) TRY and cut off the Handcuff while the zombies try and get him...even if the door had a Lock on it it's only a matter of time before they find a way to get to him.
The first time I saw him was blade 2 and then in several movies after, like tough luck and after a long time boondock saints cause a friend said I should watch it, and it tied with second best recommendation I ever got along side the walking dead
@RandomYTTroller I can only tell you it is a fact that people can escape handcuffs by slicing off a thumb. If you were all alone, believed you were abandoned, in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, I would bet you could get those cuffs off too. I would add that chopping off the whole hand runs the serious risk of bleeding to death. The show just isn't realistic. Why does Daryl ride that chopper with the ear-splitting pipes? I thought these guys wanted to be quiet? Bikes make a lot of noise.

@file374 There are two bones at the wrist, the ulna and the radius. There was a guy who got his hand stuck in a boulder in Utah in a narrow canyon and he had to break each bone one at a time, then cut through all the flesh with a penknife.
@breezeman199 yeah i heard of him but still the guy your talking about arm was slowly dying and he could barely feal any well most of it murrels hand is completely in tact and the point were he would have to saw his thumb at to slip it through the cuff is occupied by capitate and trapizium which are oddly shaped making it more difficult were as the ulna and radius end almost at the same spot leaving some clearence but he would still clip his bone a bit but it wouldnt be as much damage.
@breezeman199 plus now that i think about it you can make a turnakin to stop most of the bleeding at your arm were as your thumb there no way your gonna be able to close it off until you can cauterize it which murrel at the time didn't no he would get the oppurtunitty to cauterize it most likely

@moderatelyloud the Saw was too dull for the handcuff. a dull hacksaw cant cut through a handcuff so he had to cut off his hand...he had 2 choices : 1) Cut off his hand , and run / 2) TRY and cut off the Handcuff while the zombies try and get him...even if the door had a Lock on it it's only a matter of time before they find a way to get to him.

@RandomYTTroller I can only tell you it is a fact that people can escape handcuffs by slicing off a thumb. If you were all alone, believed you were abandoned, in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, I would bet you could get those cuffs off too. I would add that chopping off the whole hand runs the serious risk of bleeding to death. The show just isn't realistic. Why does Daryl ride that chopper with the ear-splitting pipes? I thought these guys wanted to be quiet? Bikes make a lot of noise.

@file374 There are two bones at the wrist, the ulna and the radius. There was a guy who got his hand stuck in a boulder in Utah in a narrow canyon and he had to break each bone one at a time, then cut through all the flesh with a penknife.

@breezeman199 yeah i heard of him but still the guy your talking about arm was slowly dying and he could barely feal any well most of it murrels hand is completely in tact and the point were he would have to saw his thumb at to slip it through the cuff is occupied by capitate and trapizium which are oddly shaped making it more difficult were as the ulna and radius end almost at the same spot leaving some clearence but he would still clip his bone a bit but it wouldnt be as much damage.

@file374 I can only say it is a fact that you can escape handcuffs by severing the thumb. Its not easy or painless but it can be done.

@breezeman199 plus now that i think about it you can make a turnakin to stop most of the bleeding at your arm were as your thumb there no way your gonna be able to close it off until you can cauterize it which murrel at the time didn't no he would get the oppurtunitty to cauterize it most likely
