@Rsaint17 Forum was so cramped together, vs. Staples is so overdone and huge. Arenas and stadiums should be like this, where fans are right on top of the game
The Lakers lost their edge at The Forum after 1988 though. For some reason they lost countless home playoff games year after year until moving in 2000.
Fuck Staples Center, that building has had so many bullshit games played in there, the Forum is and always will be the best, I hope Staples gets burned to the ground
Mario Elie "It's not about the lakers, it's about the Spurs and their quest for a championship" Elie was bad ass and a big part of why we won. Old school toughness at its best.
Wait; u already got some? Well; my seats are in the Colonnade 18 section, 9th row. Since their Ticketfast tixs (printable), I have to sell the seats together @ the same time. My offer is $170.
I Miss the forum it was loud there now staples center is the most quietest crowd ive seen.Staples center needs to get loud like back in the day Lakers vs kings staples was super loud.
The Fab Forum is indeed used for Sunday services now..all the World Championship Laker banners are gone, but it's still the same Forum that the Lakers won 4 titles in..
damn if phil jackson was the lakers couch that year the lakers would have whooped the spurs proof of that would be in 02 when the lakers shut down the aladome with 4 games to 1
lol, are you serious? Okay so what happened in 02-03 playoffs? Im not saying the lakers are terrible or phil is not good but come on.... You think phil would have changed that whole team in 98-99?
@ TRUCKWM...that is absolute bullshit...the 2002 Spurs didn't have the great role players they had in 1999...the Lakers got better while the Spurs got worse
please don't give me that shit...every NBA team played that year...if the Lakers had won it that year you would be saying that the 1999 Lakers were one of the greatest teams of all time...typical ignorant Lakers fan
no I'm saying every team played 50 games...we had a normal playoffs that year...the Spurs went 14-2 during the playoffs and won the championship...these are not characteristics of a "joke" season...so what exactly is your point?
One the Spurs punishing the lakers and watching those Laker Cry babies.
Then watching my kids laugh at watching Fisher and Kobe Cry like GIRLS, we Loved it.
Then watching ESPN and ABC take this game with the SPURS to a whole new level. Kids around the world and coaches know defense wins championships, nice.
The Spurs have overhauled all the teams with thugs and teams have had to adjust to beat the Spurs.
I'll always miss two things when looking at this piece:
-the Forum, as this was the last Laker game ever played there. I feel, even after nearly a decade later, ashamed to have never seen a Laker game there as a kid.
-the NBA on NBC, since it's coverage gave me joy in my childhood. Today, my teen, and soon college, years, in watching the NBA suck, since ABC sucks at televising the NBA. Also, ABC never found an intro song to stick to; NBC had Roundball Rock for their duration, and is timeless.
I know how you feel, I've lived in New England my whole life and only managed to make it to Boston Garden three times, once for a Bruins game to see Adam Oates, once in 1993 to see Kevin McHale, and again in the final season (1995) Fleet Center/TD Banknorth Garden just is not the same. Absolute travesty Boston Garden and The Forum are gone. Those two arenas meant more to basketball than Madison Square Garden! Those three stadiums should still stand today. So what if seats had obstructed view!!!
Actually, The Forum still stands. It was sold a church that holds it's sunday service and they still allow dates to be booked for concerts and other events.
I've never visited a precious NBA Arena...Mainly due to the fact that I am from Raleigh, North Carolina and lived in New Bern, NC for the majority of the NBA on NBC era...But, I liked the Spectrum, Omni, Charlotte (N.C.) Coliseum, Chicago Stadium, Forum, Boston Garden, Market Square Arena and the Capital Centre'/USAir Arena...I'm about to be 19 in a month and the NBA in my toddler, elementary and some of my middle school years owns the NBA in my High School and soon-to-be college years, as well.
Not only was this the last game for the Lakers at the old Forum, but also the last game in which L.A. wore those style of uniforms.

To me, there are 3 precious NBA arenas that should never have closed:
-The Forum, close to my heart.
-Boston Garden, close to yours.
-Chicago Stadium, close to Chicagoans, especially in the late 80s-early 90s.
All 3 buildings were menacing to opponents, were historical landmarks in my view, and represented the character of their respective city.
By the way, are you praising MSG, because you call travesty on the Garden and Forum, but said, "...Those THREE stadiums should still stand today..."?
