One of the all time great Sci-Fi shows. Just one thing though, the music for BBC Sci-Fi programmes by their radiophonic workshop had become too generic.
I think the mixture of brass, percussion and radiophonic instruments was a classic sound. The "Blakes 7" sound. It was right that it should go on as long as the series went on for.
It's a unique sound. You could be blind, but you would know that a piece of classic BBC sci-fi was on TV just by the music.
To want to replace that with generic pap is just wrong.
People can say what they will about the special effects budget of this show, but the modelwork was fantastic when they got it right. I always thought Scorpio and the underground base was one of those times.
@Coillscath It annoyed me that they redid this in CGI for the DVD menu. It was the one effect that didn't need redone. But it is only for the DVD menu though, so oh well.
@SciFiAssasin I dunno, I liked the new CG stuff. It was only for the menu though. We still got to see all the delightfully old special effects in the show itself.
@SciFiAssasin model and miniature work will win everytime over CGI in my book. With the exception of Jurassic Park. In the case of this scene, you KNOW its real, because you KNOW its something tangible, its not a load of pixels created by the guy that works down the hall in cubicle with Computer Shopper mags on his desk.

It would be great to have a underground base of my own, with a Wanderer Class starship to match!

You're right: this is the series' best ever modelwork, and probably the only good part of 'Rescue'!

Yeah that is good model work, kinda seems like something Gerry Anderson would do.

That is nice model work. I've never seen this show. Looks like Red Dwarf without the humor. :)

@radioman970 - It was years before Red Dwarf.
It had that 70's 'serious' feel about it ...
