  • Es hoert ganz gut an aber ist ein bisschen gestuerzt und drueckend? Schoene Ausdruck :) Gutes Tempo

  • zu viel vibrato? Aber sehr sehr gut

  • Wunderbar!! I love Bach's pieces, especially this allemande. This is played beautifully with great dynamic contrast.I love this violin, it sounds absolutely beautiful!I wish i could play like this!

  • s c h n e i d e r h a n has been described as the anti-virtuoso

  • He knew nothing about Allemand characteristics !! rare people who were musicologists knew at that time! so when we have not only logical but more musically performances (like Kuijken, Podger etc.) why this performance?!!

My idea is not important, seek the right way of achieving any thing by yourself!

  • i like the sketchiness of this interpretation - a bit mechanical, yet, due to the vibrato, still romantic - somehow intriguing in its imperfectness.

  • Very etude-ish. Mechanical. Bach can be extraordinarily personal.

  • barock--is spelled baroque in english! :-P

  • Thanks for the help but i have read all the treatises you mention and everything is diferrent.

As it is today it was before 400 years, many versions existed and many different playings and characteristics.

See Geminiani he mentions vibrato on each note, that means more than today.Second ornaments were used much more than today especially in Italian music, see Quantz,of course it was an ornament and it was used a lot

  • great!!

  • In Baroque vibrato existed, and it was much used, there are about thitry treatises from 1600 which all mention vibrato,so this is a myth based on just one example

  • vibrato was not used very often in barock

  • Vibrato was mentioned as an ornament, and not something to be used constantly. An ornament implies that it's something to be used not-so-frequently. Listen to a recording of the greatest 19th century master, Joachim, and you'll hear almost no vibrato in his Bach. Honestly, you should try reading those treatises (rather than pointing at them to support a dogmatic point of view that is unfounded in historical research). Furthermore, you should try listening to some modern period performances.

  • ok then :) personaly i don't like it..

  • i think he uses too much vibrato for a barock piece and he is rushing, not making phrases...i prefer it more airy without vibrato...barock style!

  • This was recorded in 1955 i think. In this time, it was the main style playing this piece.

  • dis peace play'd ok !

  • i felt like the piece was rushed a bit with not enough phrasing

  • Interesting picture, showing a rather old fashioned wrist. Nice tone but weird very self reflecting not much focused on Bach I think.

  • perfect. best verison

  • de que esta brutaaal. perfect, i love it

  • he could definitely do more with dynamics!! however I do think that the tempo is not too fast. I think that most people are just accustomed to hearing it at a slower tempo as a result of an older style of playing. The piece was originally a dance... not a funeral march.

  • It's a baroque piece in romantic setting for me as well but what I can hear is he's playing from the heart, lovely like a child. Not many violinists sound authentic nowadays when they play emotional. Mostly it's a sketch of emotion - a copy of emotional something.

  • it sounds like a romantic piece, to much vibratto, i agree with the other guy..

if you want a good record go see schering record

  • ahhhhh

such a.. WARM touch and sound.

    wow im just simply amazed.

  • it's useful for memorizing though, because the sections are clearly defined, and because the intonation is perfect. It's a great learning tool, even if it isn't relaxing to listen to.

  • Bach should sound completely different, tooooooo much vibrato and it´s also too fast

  • Bach sounds different, sooooooooo much vibrato and also too fast...

  • i find it too fast. the allemande is NOT a fast piece but rather moderato or even a bit slow! and in my opinion it`s very indifferently played, almost no dynamic differences. and it`s not clean at all, considering intonation. sorry, but i do not like it.

  • Awesome! I'm playing it this year and it's just.. beautiful!

  • My model !! Woaouh !! Hudge !! I love this song.

I have to play it on Wensday... Aaargh !! I'll never play like him ^^
