  • Thank you. May sound crazy but I just bought a keyboard to try this... looking forward in some months I´ve got it....

  • @jguarin2010 I think that's great, let me know how it goes for you!

  • I wish I could read notes and note just play from ear

  • Hard time to memorize but it's worthed :)

  • boo this a HORN solo it wasn't meant to be played on piano!!!!!

  • @crazygermn Hmm. Perhaps you should alert the authorities.

  • @WannaBeBeatle248 I've done that one, it's in my Beatles tutorials playlist.

  • sorry i accidentally pressed the dislike button while pausing it sorry

  • Ive been trying to figure this out on horn and transposing the notes you gave helped a bunch :) Thank you!

  • @Wevosman Glad it helped you! :-)

  • Very helpful, as always John. As for C versus B: Ya, the original may have been in B, but even Paul always performs it in C. If C is good enough for Paul, it's good enough for me.

  • i was trying to learn this song by ear because i am too lazy to go out and buy sheet music so i cheated by looking on youtube because i couldn't figure out the chorus...i hate piano tutorials but you have so many great beatles songs that i have to love you. you make it seem so easy to figure these out haha.

  • Another nice job from Piano John. One nit to pick: The key signature of B is typically expressed with 5 sharps (F#, C#, G#, D#, and A#). IMHO calling an "F#" a "Gb" is poor form as it will confuse students, even though you are technically correct as they are interchangeable aliases.

  • @teeowe Yep, I know, that was a careless error on my part. I default to "flat" notations on the black keys when I'm not thinking about it, and since the notations are imbedded into the video, I can't change them. This was one of my earlier posts.. I was much more diligent about it in future videos.

  • Wait, never mind. I looked it up and you are right. I am trying to play the French horn part (on the French horn) and I transposed something wrong.

  • No problem.

  • Isn't this song in C and not B?

  • You need to upload a video of you playing this song in it's entirety. Start to finish, with the solo of course. Sing along or not, this song is beautiful when played only with piano.

  • That's a good idea, I've always liked playing this song. It's one of Paul's best.

  • Favorited! Very cool!

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it.

  • This was awesome! do you mind if you could put the sheet music up for it?

  • Thanks, glad you liked it. I don't have the ability to post sheet music, unfortunately. And actually, I'm not sure if I have the sheets for this song anymore.

  • A few months ago I was thinking this horn solo would sound good on piano, but thought that would be too obscure to learn from the internet- yet you never cease to please pianojohn, brilliant.

  • Thanks very much, I'm glad you liked it! I appreciate the comment. :-)

  • Hey PianoJohn i think your missing four notes at the end. i thonk your supposed to play C# D# F# and end on B below middle C. It sounds somewhat incomplete without those last four notes. Either this is a good tutorial.

  • You could be right, although I end the solo there because the chorus starts at the same time.. as I recall, the last four solo notes go over the vocals. But sure, feel free to add those notes, that's great.

  • No, bauducco2005 ... the song you are thinking of is "In My Life" in which George Martin plays a piano solo recorded at half-speed. The solo on "For No One" is played on french horn by Alan Civil. He remarked that it was tricky to play the solo in "B". Thanks for the video John - as usual very good. It's painfully obvious to anyone with perfect pitch that the song is in B and not C.

  • Play it in C tuned down half a step, and voila! It's now in B. The Beatles played in different tunings quite often. Not that complicated...

  • Amazing! You are very tALented and obviously have very good taste in music ;)

  • Thanks very much!

  • i stand corrected

  • plano john, your dead wrong the song was never slowed down and paul himself plays the song in the key of ''c'' on plano and there a demo on you tube of him playing it on guitar in the key of c.i don't know why you play it in ''b'' but your misleding people here.your a good player but it is and always was in the key of ''c''.i watched paul do it live in the key of ''c''.slowed down or not the final product is ''c''and it sounds better with those chords.

  • tvine2000: You are 100% incorrect. The final master tape of this song is a true B Major. If Paul does a live performance in C, that's because it's an easier key to play in. But the original recording is and always has been B. I suggest you check it yourself by playing the notes along with the record. B Major.

  • umm it's in B? tvine2000 I'm sorry but you are wrong.

  • Easily, one of the hardest vids to do of yours John, but I got it and it sounds great. Thank you so much.

  • Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you.

I was trying to learn the solo playing on a melodica but couldn't find any music sheet =)

I'm happy to know that I wasn't that far from it ,anyway

  • excellent! thanks for sharing this, sheet music rarely includes the instrumental solos. it seems Paul likes to jump octives with the base note. in this song, let it be .. etc ... great music

  • WOW! You are a great teacher. Any time I want to learn a Beatles song I will look here. I just learned the song. Now the solo! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :P :P :P thanks
  • Why did you cut out the last 4 notes of the solo?

  • I´ll get there, it takes patienece.

  • great video, very easy to follow along, i learned it within 10 min :D

  • Sweet! Finally I meet another pianist that plays by ear like me! :D 5 stars. I learned this song by ear too.

  • thanks man! I'm using a sheet music to play this song and it lacks the horn section. now I can play it.

  • Great! I'm glad it was helpful to you.

  • the beatles make such great music.. it's great to find an easy way to learn it!

  • At the very end of the solo, I believe you are missing 3 notes, after the last B, you play Db, Eb, Gb and B, kind of quick.

In other words, it does not stop on the B, it goes up those four notes till the next B.

Hope this helps a little :)

  • Super!

  • Thanks, glad you liked it!

  • my favorite solo! And you play it sooooo good

  • It's a great solo... glad it wasn't too confusing on the video!

  • Awesome! Thanks...a ton...I think I'll subscribe

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it! :-)
