Bob that was very interesting video. It's nice to hear some one say"Just show up".lol Many times in my area (S Idaho) local well known artists don't show up. Then people like me that also perform & coordinate entertainment are left with a new lesson.Just show up and be prepared to do your absolute best performance. That seems to always get me re-booked. Thanks for the videos.Great information.
Finally...no more "pay to play" gigs and hoping there MIGHT be a major record label A&R guy in the audience. I think that very soon the record labels will be coming to YOU, in order to capitalize financially on your art/music.... Then WE can be in a better position to set the terms of any contracts slid at us across some record companies big wigs desk... Dax
love this guy! definitely an inspiration, and it's great to see such great, positive energy being put into this world! positivity is as contagious as negativity, so keep on spreading it, terry!
The first time I ever heard this guy, I was drawn in by his velvety voice, his lyrics are very inspirational. He definitely will be a hit once discovered. much love, and GOOD LUCK, TERRY.......
Thank you Terry Prince and thank you Bob Baker! Terry is a godsend and I am honored to be of his kin (spiritually through music). I can share a similar story. TO all those artists who are feeling down about their gift, rise up and show up babies. Give, give and give, the world will give back to you as long as you show up. Much love! Vi An.
nivsha, I love your comment. I have mentored so many young people who love the idea of "Field of Dreams" and "Build it and they will come" and "The SECRET" and yet they think they don't have to "SHOW UP!" Yes, ya gotta put yourself and your gift on stage! Put on a generous spirit and SHOW UP!!
Ya gotta get out there and love the people and shower them with your gift! GETTING OUT THERE and relating to people with your loving gift is the way!
if you take the cost of a jewel case and the cd. Cd's are 32 cents each, jewel cases are maybe 1 dollar. If you sell them for $5 you are making some good money.
Right... Recording an album on the cheap, lets say $3000, having a reputable company package your disc for you, pay someone to design your artwork etc.
im selling Sonar 8 producer on myspace page for $50 i send it to u as a attached file to yo email address so that u can download it to yo computer and install it instanly after u buy it sonar 8 is the best recording software on the planet they use sonar 8 producer to make commercials and the music industry leading artist music it have all the plugins u need to master your songs and create effects to yo vocals like none other program can do
what cds do you buy? i get 100 cds for about 12.00 generally,, jewel cases from sams club are like 20.00 for 100, so theres .12 each for the cds, and .20 for the jewel cases, thats only .32,,,,
then jewel cases from mixtapeprinting are like $100 for 1,000 inserts which is .10 each, thats .42 each, maybe .45 after taxes, or whatver, there you go, even selling at 1.00, you doubled profit, and have your cd out there
thats what i saying go to sams club for, i mean if you know right away your gonna need 1,000 or 5,000, they do even bigger discounts when you buy more,
idk closest costco to here is like 40 min away, but they might even be cheaper that way
discmakers is decent, but they charge a lot cuz of the time it takes to burn cds
i only have a single burner but it takes like 1 minute to burn a cd, i would rather sit here a day n get 500 cds done than spend the extra .50 a disc to get it done 4 me
Yea we go through discmakers and we have a 7 disc lightscribe burner, so we get the image and the songs burned and it takes about 1-2 minutes for 4 songs. It did cost a pretty penny though.
yea, but a lot of older people, or people who like it, and eledry people probably will get them from liking one song he plays,, so to them 10 dollars aint nothin really
Saw Terry at SM pier on 10th january this year. Sun was shining, laid back and just listened. One of those special moments. In the 1/2 hour we were there he must have sold a dozen. Well done Terry. When your in Melbourne, Australia let us know. Love your music.
How much is the fee for the spot to set up and play on that pier. I know it ain't free. (OK..Permit answered...) What about cops and crowds? I played once on a boardwalk and a crowd began to gather (folk music days) and didn't finish the song because the cops dispersed the crowd and shoveled me along...
you know, when you hear about certain corporate record "stars" selling millions, its almost depressing, but when you see a guy like this smiling and proudly declaring sales of 15,000 units... IT MAKEs ME WANT TO JUMP UP and SHOUT Heck Yeah Terry Prince, get even more success YEAHHHHHHH!!!!
There is nothing like standing on the pier over looking the ocean, and listening to Terry Prince. His voice is unbelievable. Take at least 15 minutes of your time to stand and listen to him, then buy his CD. When you go home from your vacation, pop in his CD close your eyes and listen to it...it will bring you right back visually, like you are standing there on the Pier. Thanks Terry for sharing your wonderful talent!!!!!
I was on the pier last week and just remember seeing some guys singing out there. What a great gig to play, great to believe in building and show up for it.
wow, hats off to you Terry, what a great job you've done, if only a few more musicians exhibited such commercial eloquence and focus :-) have I got the maths right though? 15k CDs sold over 30hrs a month for 18mths equates to shifting roughly 1 every 2 minutes???
Currently I have 2 albums out and am selling them on the internet. Trouble is its Jungle/drum-n-bass so it's totally electronic. Im selling 2-3 cd's a day so you got me beat.
It is always nice to hear Terry sing, but this is the first time I have heard him interviewed in a video. He is really a great singer, composer, and a truly genuine person. Keep up your great work Terry; you are a gift to the world.
Artists by nature seem to rely on positive feedback and support... but they shouldn't. There will always be someone who loves your creations if you have talent. You only need to believe in yourself.
I commend his can-do approach, but it's likely he's exaggerating a tad about his sales. Do the math and that's 27 CDs per hour he's selling. I didn't see anybody helping him sell, so assuming 1-2 minutes per transaction (which is pretty swift) he's playing only a half-hour to...not at all?
There is a possibility that he's selling a multiple-multiple to someone. Maybe some businessman walking by trying to impress his mistress by buying in bulk. I'm not saying that's what happened, or the claim is true...I'm just saying.
Actually, the 10 days a month he does work the pier, he only puts in three hours. I figure it at about $830 a day. Not a bad wage for three hours work :-) -Bob
Playing outside of festivals and destinations like Disney World is another gr8 tip for musicians to try.

yea my band just did 4 songs and it cost 1,500. we are going back 2 more times and doing 4 songs each time.
We play around, get 100-200 per show and sell merch. That's how we are doing it and it's working decently.
I'm just saying we want our music to get out there. At 5$, we still make money back and we get our name out there faster.
At 10$ we would still sell them fine, but our music wouldn't get out as fast.
