@sandydogy That's how I came to buy three seasons (at the moment) of Hogan's Heroes. Because I live in Spain, there is basically no good stuff on the television now. Thanks to You tube I've been discovering good stuff!
you rock Michael! ;)I'm working a bit on a traveling show myself, but with 1 person,1small camera and the world, it's not going to be as good as Palin's :D
Wrong. Why would the BBC charter a Canadian registered aircraft if they were just going to fly around Svalbard? Plus I know the pilot. They were really there.
LOL the chances that they actually landed the plane at the pole are very unlikely.I think they just filmed a segment close to the pole and said it was the pole. It is very hard to find a suitable landing area on that ice up there. you need a landing strip built and maintained by an ice camp . The ice breaks so frequently no matter what time of year it is and creates hummocks or pressure ridges that you can't just decide to land at the north pole anytime you feel like it.
I know it seems easier to say you were there and not go but I read his book and in it he says it took a long time to find a capable spot and when they did, they didnt stay long. what would be the point of saying it and not doing it- that is just not like michael palin.
yeti77, he did land there ! like many others(thats why they made precautions beforehand). Also look up 'Top Gear'(Polar special) ,its not hard these days. They did it with a car :)
Top gear didn't actually go to the georaphic North Pole as the geographic North Pole is in the sea. They actually went to the 1996 magnetic North Pole, which was situated in Northern Canada.
amazing. there's cleese doing third rate comedies, and palin's doing whatever the hell he wants. he was always my favorite cast member of monty python

I love you Prokkets! Could you find a more inappropriate place to worship the failure Bush? Do you think we are still debating WITH you? We are now debating ABOUT you. A debate isnt between experts and those who disagree with experts, so please post your propaganda at QTube, where conservatives can fight it out amongst themselves. Thank you.

Quite possible that he just flew around Svalbard, because the landing scene is at Longyearbyen.
