I definitely think there needs to be more leniency for photography in the nudist lifestyle - I've asked myself the question of whether nudists even have photo albums, and obviously, as a photographer, capturing photographic memories is important to me in a way that maybe it's not to someone else - but I'm not sure I can see it happening unless the wider nudist population is able to get over their excessive fear and paranoia about cameras.
That way, only people who don't mind having their pictures taken would be there, and then people who want to take pictures while at the nudist resort will have a place to do that.
I'd like to think that one of the advantages young people bring to the table is LESS of a concern about "oh my god what if somebody takes a picture of me while I'm naked!?" Of course individual views will vary across the spectrum. It would be great, however, if nudist resorts could implement your suggestion about having a designated area for taking pictures.
I am in agreement! As a photographer, with a particular interest in nude photography and self-portraiture (which means taking pictures of myself, not other people who don't want their pictures taken!), I find the alarmist reaction to the usage of cameras at American nudist resorts (in my experience) incredibly stifling. Unfortunately, though, I don't see an easy solution, because people are very protective of their nude image and are highly paranoid about "gawkers", "voyeurs", and the like.
that should say "then one should be able to get permission from management: - ie. that permission would be freely given, as long as nobody else is there to get photographed against their will (YouTube needs to allow our reponses to be longer, lol!)
I think the best idea would be to have some areas set aside & labelled where everybody knows that photographs can be taken, and that way if we don't want to end up in someone else's photos, whether in the background or more prominently, then we can just avoid those areas. Maybe make half of the resort okay for photos to be taken, and the other half photo-free. And if anyone wants to take photos next to signs, etc that aren't designated photo areas, then one can get permission from management
i have to agree with the post below mine.most of these nude resorts are notorious for discrimination toward young single guys. case in point, my name was removed from, the guest list at one of them, and i was never told the reason why. i really don't believe they care, if young folks visit or not sister, because nudist resorts are full of people in ur parents' age group. i see no harm in what u did,in the future just take ur dollars someplace else.
@381MEDALLION they are biting their noses to spite their faces. Their loss, and hope you find a nudist place that will accept you regardless of your marital status.
Because of the blatant discrimination I suffered as a single male, I wouldn't give any resort affiliated with AANR a dime. Rock on beaches, lakes, rivers and hot springs.
the woman was wrong,..... nudists are generally good ppl are realize that unwanted picture taking is wrong. I have been to many nude venues and have had my picture taken and have taken pictures of friends and sometimes strangers but always with consent.
This goes on at beaches as well. Some of the Nudist Nazi's post "No pictures allowed" signs at Hanlan's, and thats a public place, no one can ban pictures in public. I've had to tell them to GET LOST (in a not so nice way), after having been barked at for taking pics myself and agreeing parties, on a deserted part of the beach (I don't take un consenting pictures). If I was taking pics of un consenting people, that would be different, but I wasn't.
One thing AANR does not seem to do is have a "flag" that follows a club "allowed videographer" or photographer around (like on a hat) so others know "this is official" (so may avoid background). AANR needS to make it easy for clubs to follow a procedure such as this photographer hat flag (and possibly groups having wrist bands if in photos). Clubs generally allow AANR groups to make their own photography procedures. Perhaps AANR need to approve "photo groups" that are not AANR clubs too.
No, this was a particular situation where my man wanted to take a picture of me for our own photo book and/or to share with whom we please. Why must I prearrange my "nudism publicity" just to have my man or friends take a picture of me? Why should only photos be permitted inside resorts just because one or two people are afraid they are going to get photographed even though they are not standing in the lens view?
@ganudist Why should I have to exploit my image through a nudist organization when all I want to do is to update my memory book? Those who live in nudist resorts and or are family nudists must really have a small family album. This is pretty sad and needs to change. This would not apply in any given public location, while won't the resorts learn to work with the needs of young people and set up a way that photography and cell phones can be permitted within their walls?

My Experiences at Nudist clubs over the past 10 years: Almost all places help to protect "shy people" from accidentally being photo graphed... I have been "accidentally" photographed twice at a club. Sounds like you ARE a group that likes recognition & support the values of the American Association for Nude Recreation. If you become AANR affiliated as clothesfree-com or nudistclubhouse-com & PreArrange for your "nudism publicity".. then most likely all AANR clubs will approve your photographer.
In the UK the clubs are stocked with selfish geriatrics with no thought but for themselves. They deliberately do everything to drive away young nudists to preserve the silence of their retirement homes.
Then, to cap it all, they ban you from taking photos, for 2 reasons
1. so they can milk the booty from flashing your bits all over their adverts
2. to protect the interests of the lascivious voyeurs posing as their official photographers.
There trying to get young people in, I'd kill to go to a nudist resort. Im 16 and want to be a nudist, but alas my parents aren't. I wish they would remove that stupid 18+ plus and I also wish there was a beach or resort in walking distance. The one closest to me is in Niagra Falls
Better yet, why don't they approve the lead photographer for young peeps to take photos of their group for such events? Wear badges etc. The main thing I have an issue about with this behavior was there was no one in the background nor around while the image was being taken. It was done at night towards the end of the day and was being posed tastefully. If cameras are prohibited for the sake of the guests and the guests don't care, there is no excuse for us to be scolded for harmless photography
I know for a fact that the staff photographer at Glen Eden brings release forms with himself and anyone in his photos signs the form first. For the world record skinny dip last year all participants had to sign the form. Just being at the resort does not mean you've given consent for your photo to be taken. I'm sure GE would be happy to accomodate the needs of Vita Nuda if you talk to the manager. It was great to see so many young people at Nude Fest.
I remember how upset you got when someone took pictures of you at the Nude Bike Ride and posted without your permission, the problem is you don't know who is taking the picture and where it will end up.
We are Bankers, Lawyers, Priests, PTA Members, Teachers, CHILDREN etc. careers could end by an innocent picture that caught you in the background. Agreed your friend should not have been scolded
I was there with my 2 children and I would have been upset if I saw a camera.
Instead of having a designated photo area, or have people sign wavers, they could have a scheduled "picture day." Anyone who doesn't want to be photographed for the resort's promos simply wouldn't show up on that day.
But I definitely agree. It's hypocritical that they don't allow you to take your own photos, but go around and take their own photos.
Would be curious to know what you did wrong at deer park. All clubs will be apprehensive about first timers. It takes about two years for a club to accept you. You broke one cardinal rule- photos. With understanding and cooperation a club might be ok with it. When you act like a stranger being inconsiderate of the community you entered you should expect the treatment you got. Self interests might have to be sacrificed for a short time. Dont give up on clubs though.
I think that distance may be a factor for a lot of us. There isn't anywhere up where I am where one can enjoy themselves. The closest resort is about four hours away from where I live and exclusive. There are no beaches within six hours drive. I live in Northern California, in the corner where Oregon, California and Nevada meet.
I don't know about the US, but here in the UK we have a group called Young British Naturists (YBN) who frequently organise gatherings for clubs. I think for the UK at least, the biggest issue is having other young people there to talk to and interact with. Also having fun events for all ages can give a good impression of the clubs too!
