Half life is a long game that started as a simple concept. The one story (Gordon Freeman's perspective) of the official game also has many characters citizens,rebels,combine with a much greater story for each NPC. Half life started as a game for the enjoyment of the consumer, but it's a masterpiece with portrays anarchy, dictatorship, anger, sadness. Half life is basically the best movie with your control over characters.

@fridude03 I know exactly what your saying. Half Life 1 didn't represent any kind of feeling. It was just a man trapped in a research center fighting his way through aliens to escape. Half Life 2 has a really different feeling. Half Life 2 has alot of emotions in it, sorrow, anarchy, and overall sadness. I think of Half Life 2 as more than a video game.

@minecraftman08 I do agree that Half-Life 1 represented few feelings, however it was more of a back story or a setup to how the whole world turned into a destructive war with constant battles between the combine and the rebels. Half-Life 2, as you described a "sad" story-line with many questions unanswered and many scenerions forgotten. A good example would be this: in Half-Life 2, there was an area where the ant lions killed a man called lazlo, or something like than. We never figured out more.

In the level Sandtraps. instead of you just finding out that if you go on the sand ant lions come up, they show you with the scene with Lazlo. He and his friend were on the beach and Lazlo didn't know about the lions. He gets injured and you watch him die. There's alot of sorrow in HL2, it's a pretty strong game. Now all we need now is Half Life 2: Episode 3!

Civil protection doesnt mean combine it means they are "protecting" civilians, but they arent exactly produced, they volunteer, when you see a line of people taking a bag when you enter city 17 in hl2, those are volunteers, the "real" combines are made in nova prospect (sorry for the grammar), those are forced.

In a way there are forced, but that doesnt mean they arent human even Barney wears a suit like them.

Civil Protection is protecting civilized society, not you or any other civilians.

They're issued with 9mm sidearms and sometimes with MP7's to maintain sociostability in the city.

They invade the earth, and those who wish to join them become part of civil protection which are the guys in masks. Oh and those rebels who do not comply with the combine become stalkers. When I was serving in vietnam I was a field translater, We had a cong taken prisoner I've never forgotten his name Hyun Ki. During my rec time's I would speak with him and it was exactly as in this video. Not my friend nor enemy, but we spoke about all things he told me of his wife and brother.
