  • i would love it if they made a sequel to Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World!! After the movie ended, I hoped they would make another one, but so far they haven't. Please make the sequel!

  • A sequel would be fantastic. Need to put some pretty women in it, although O'Brian would be horrified! Need to increase the fan base.

  • Wow, a sequel would be AWESOME! I think I'd look forward to that as much as the upcoming Hobbit.

  • Get good writers, research it well, and GO FOR IT! What a welcomed film it would be, provided it followed O'Brien's novels closely.

  • Please make a sequel!

  • Please make a sequel. I hate that the only film set in the high seas nowadays are fantasy popcorn flicks like Pirates of the Caribbean.

  • There aren't enough films like Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (possibly the most unwieldy movie title ever?) I'd like to see more from this IP, or even some original stories depicting the navies of the period.

I don't know anyone who doesn't like Master and Commander. It's turned into a sort of Zulu-type-tradition film in Britain, that you put on around Christmas time. lol

  • Hollywood...Waste not a minute!!!

  • According to the Times, Patrick O'Brian (who wrote the 20+ books in the Aubrey-Maturin series) is "The greatest historical novelist of all time!". It was fantastic that they made the first movie, and quite frankly Russell Crowe was a perfect choice for Jack Aubrey, but given the strength, the style and the quality of these books, it is definitely right that they make more of the stories into movies. There are some great stories they can tell and I am sure audiences would appreciate them.

  • yes thank you... MinisterAilingTongue already told me. I agree!

  • Fantastic movie

  • @MinisterAilingTongue Ok, I will definitely look that book up.

  • A sequel would destroy it.

  • @badelmann Ridiculous. They might make a sequel and put Dianna Villiers and Sophie in the film...but Post Captain and Desolation Island have so much to offer. I take it you haven't read them and that is why you think a sequel would be a bad thing. Well, I disagree and I recommend the books highly.

  • @badelmann A sequel to Master and Commander probably wouldn't destroy it. Because they are based on books. And there are like 20 books or so in that series. So sequels are already written. Or the books are at least. The first movie was just based on the first book.

  • YESS!! MAKE A SEQUEL PLEASE!!!!

  • yes make another one.fantastic movie...one of my favorites , well done

  • Deserves a sequel more than those jokes called Pirates of the Caribbean ever did.

  • make it

  • Weir is great. His movies are intricate and deep.

  • As this this was THE BEST seafaring film of all time, I only have one thing to say regarding a sequel - "Huzzah!"

Please, please, please make a sequel...

  • They need to make another one! There's more than enough material in the books to do it. C'mon Hollywood, pull your collective finger out of your collective ass and make another decent film for a change.

  • If you like Master & Commander i recommend watching Hornblower, very good show especially season two when the budget went up quite a bit

  • Only another Master and Commander film would make me actually happy. I love Patrick O'Brian's books, I love Diana and Stephen and I love the film.

  • Ah well, screw him. Someone else can do it, so long as they don't mess it up. What I really want is a sequel that uses teh same sound designer!

The sound in the first film is what made it for me. The music, sound recording and atmosphere were spot on all the way through. The only other film which was as sharp on its sound design was High Fidelity, and that was a film about music snobs, so it was kind of expected.

  • YES PLEASE

  • Please do a sequel...please

  • I would love a sequel. One of my favourite film ever. M+C is an overlooked masterpiece.

  • @RichardElden I hope you get finger cancer so I don't have to see you spew your crap anymore, friend.

  • I really enjoyed reading the Aubrey/Maturin novels, wish the series could go one forever! The film "M & C" was thrilling to watch, thank you Peter Weir for a job well done.

  • @RichardElden idiot

  • @RichardElden i hope george clooney gets lung cancer russel crowe is australian just like im american we have saxon blood we speak english jack aubrey was a great fictional hero russel crowe did ok and like i said he is an englishman so he qualifies to play JA automatically crowe also did a piss poor proper anglish accent in gladiator it was still good the movie was excellent in portraying a time when the middle ages and the modern era collided

  • @lvcivs11 Gladiator was portraying different periods of roman history, a move back to the original democracy of rome, but this was still the classical period. The middle ages didn't start until the fall of the Western Roman empire. You can tell gladiator is set before this because Rome is still the roman capital, whereas if it were set later then Constantinople would be the capital. I'm not sayin this to make fun of you or anything, as a history student i just like to spread what i've learned.

  • Guys can someone translate the interwiev in ITalian pleasE?

  • A Sequel would make my day! I just love the Napoleonic Wars! And Patrick O' Brian Books!

  • I'd love there to be a sequel, I hope the movie studios just get off their asses and make a second one.

  • @evm2007 True so true

  • @evm2007 I really hope they make the sequel!
