Eine wunderbare Welt der schönen Bilder mit einem wunderbaren Chanson, das ich seit meiner Kindheit (50er Jahre) kenne und mich sehr freute, es so hören zu dürfen.
Da pflichte ich absolut bei ! A bissl jiddischen quetsch, Klamauk, selbstverhohnepiepelung und die Anregung zum Nachdenken ohne erhobenen Zeigefinger.
Bei Amazon für´s kleine Geld die DVD koyfen und immer wieder anschau´n.
Dus erschte Mul as ikh hob geseyn de film "Zug des Lebens"-groysartig! - hob a bisele tsugeveynt, sì mir geven azoy gut, un gelocht, gelocht in frailech..
Jedem, der das Jiddische nur zu gerne hört, möchte ich den Film "ZUG DES LEBENS" ans Herz legen (es gibt keine Probleme mit dem Verstehen, denn es ist eingedeutsches Jiddidsch). Ein ganz wunderbarer Film, urkomisch und ganz tief berührend zugleich.
Ich begegne regelmässig jüdischen Leuten und Synagogen gibt´s auch. Die sind nur nicht so protzige Bauten dass sie einem gleich ins Auge fallen.
Also es "rennen" viele Jiddels herum, denen sieht man das doch nicht an:) Nur die orthodoxen,die in schwarz mit Hut und Schläfenlocken ( also das "klassische" Bild wie man jüdische Männer sich hierzulande oft vorstellt)die sieht man nicht sehr oft.
Natürlich gibt es auch noch in Deutschland Juden, aber nicht sehr stark vertreten. Ich habe z.B. noch niemals einen Juden getroffen oder auch nur eine Synagoge gesehen.
@MauriceDropsDead In Berlin leben ca. 10.000 Juden (das sind die, die in der jüd. Gemeinde eingetragen sind). In ganz Deutschland sind es ca. 105.000. Aber allein in Berlin kommen ca. 12 000 Israelis dazu und viele haben sich bisher nicht in Gemeinden eingeschrieben. Nirgendwo außer in Israel ist jüd. Einwanderung so stark wie in D-Land und das ist toll. Jüdische Bürger haben sie sicher schon getroffen, sie sehen aus wie alle anderen, was das "Erkennen" zum Glück erschwert. ;)
@MauriceDropsDead PS: In Berlin wird in 7 Synagogen und Gebethäusern Gottesdienst abgehalten. Kurz nach der Wende waren es gerade 21 000 in ganz Deutschland. Das sind doch positive Zeichen, oder? :)
Durch diese Veräter verloren wir Deutsche ein wunderbarer Teil der Deutschen Kultur! Ich finde es schade die Deutsch jüdische kultur nicht kennen gelernt zu haben.
@kaiserkayn Ja, traurig, was wir verloren haben, die Schande wird uns ewig verfolgen. Aber es wächst doch gerade neu, das deutsch-jüdische Leben. :) Berlin hat außerhalb Israels weltweit die schnellst wachsende Gemeinde. Und die heran strömenden jungen Israelis und ihr lebhaftes Treiben in Kunst und Kultur kann man in der Hauptstadt inzwischen auch kaum mehr übersehen. Keine Macht den Extremisten. Alles wird gut. :)

That would be like if people said that Americans are still locking up or still racist towards the people of Asian descent, but we don't even care about that now. My grandfather is German and he believes in equality for all. So, shut up. Of course, you will have people everywhere that hate another race or group. Most people where I lived just loved to pick on Jews and gays :(

@polli2310 Also. Jiddisch ging (11.-13. Jhd) aus dem Mittelhochdeutschen hervor und ist noch heute der deutschen Sprache und deren Mundarten ziemlich nahe. ABER mittlerweile haben wir in unserer Sprache Wörter aus dem Jiddischen ("Jiddisch" kommt von "Yiddish" (Engl.), welches wiederum abgeleitet von "Jüdisch" ist), wie zum Beispiel 'Bammel', 'Reibach' und 'Zoff', sowie 'Schmiere stehen', 'Pleite machen', 'Knast', 'meschugge', 'mischpoche', 'eine Macke haben' oder 'Ganove'.
@dasanner Andersherum: Yiddish wurde erst im 19. Jahrhundert ins Englisch übersetzt, hatte davor im angelsächsischen Bereich ja keine Relevanz. Jiddisch kommt von Jiidisch, was Jiddisch für Jüdisch ist. :D

The lyrics in the description are different from what she is singing. Not that anyone probably cares. Instead of "Bay mir bistu eyner oyf der velt." for example she says "Bay mir bistu di sheynster oyf der velt." And 90% of the first block isn't sung or is different than what she sings. Like I said though, not that anyone cares.
@timseguine I am glad that you bring up the topic. I have noticed the differences between what I read in the transliteration form what I heard phonetically. However, I was reluctant to ask because I cannot speak Yiddish, therefore I am not sure if my observation is accurate. Up-til-now the lyrics I saw that are posted on the many other web sites are the same as here, therefore not much help elsewhere neither. If you can help up date the lyrics here your effort will be much appreciate.
@acicukavezej I am actually not a Yiddish speaker either. That said I have a basic understanding of the grammar, and I recognize the German cognates. I can't make out the first two lines of the intro. After that it matches starting with "Vendu bist vild vi indianer" although she says, I believe "Vendu bist vild vi an indianer"; an inconsequential change. I mentioned the one change to the chorus, but she also says "Fil sheyne yinglekh hobn shoyn gevolt nemen mikh," since she is a woman not a man

Yiddish IS a Germanic language regardless WHERE it is spoken. Yiddish speakers may add a few borrow words but it's a West Germanic language. Did u not read the reference I sent u? I happen to be half spharadi myself and no one in my family but my grandparents pronounces het differently to Khaf. A lot of sepharadic jews who lived all around the mediterranean sea didn't pronounce them differently either. Those who did distinguish them were mostly the north-african jews.

@dralger What are you talking about? The singer in this performance is actually Hungarian, and I don't think anyone pretends that she's a native speaker of Yiddish. What Americans say "Bei mir bist du schön"? The most famous American versions of the song that I know are by the Barry sisters (who were native speakers of Yiddish) and the Andrews sisters (who were not native speakers of Yiddish but absolutely did not say "schön").
It's uninteresting who is a native Yiddish speaker and who is not a native speaker. The fact is: The song was published in the USA with the ridiculous pseudo German title and a lot of singers adapted that.

ABER mittlerweile haben wir in unserer Sprache Wörter aus dem Jiddischen ("Jiddisch" kommt von "Yiddish" (Engl.), welches wiederum abgeleitet von "Jüdisch" ist), wie zum Beispiel 'Bammel', 'Reibach' und 'Zoff', sowie 'Schmiere stehen', 'Pleite machen', 'Knast', 'meschugge', 'mischpoche', 'eine Macke haben' oder 'Ganove'.

@dasanner Andersherum: Yiddish wurde erst im 19. Jahrhundert ins Englisch übersetzt, hatte davor im angelsächsischen Bereich ja keine Relevanz. Jiddisch kommt von Jiidisch, was Jiddisch für Jüdisch ist. :D

The lyrics in the description are different from what she is singing. Not that anyone probably cares. Instead of "Bay mir bistu eyner oyf der velt." for example she says "Bay mir bistu di sheynster oyf der velt." And 90% of the first block isn't sung or is different than what she sings. Like I said though, not that anyone cares.

@timseguine I am glad that you bring up the topic. I have noticed the differences between what I read in the transliteration form what I heard phonetically. However, I was reluctant to ask because I cannot speak Yiddish, therefore I am not sure if my observation is accurate. Up-til-now the lyrics I saw that are posted on the many other web sites are the same as here, therefore not much help elsewhere neither. If you can help up date the lyrics here your effort will be much appreciate.

@acicukavezej I am actually not a Yiddish speaker either. That said I have a basic understanding of the grammar, and I recognize the German cognates. I can't make out the first two lines of the intro. After that it matches starting with "Vendu bist vild vi indianer" although she says, I believe "Vendu bist vild vi an indianer"; an inconsequential change. I mentioned the one change to the chorus, but she also says "Fil sheyne yinglekh hobn shoyn gevolt nemen mikh," since she is a woman not a man

Yiddish IS a Germanic language regardless WHERE it is spoken. Yiddish speakers may add a few borrow words but it's a West Germanic language. Did u not read the reference I sent u? If you removed all the German words from Yiddish it would fail to exist. There would be virtually nothing left that would make it language.

I happen to be half spharadi myself and no one in my family but my grandparents pronounces het differently to Khaf. A lot of sepharadic jews who lived all around the mediterranean sea didn't pronounce them differently either. Those who did distinguish them were mostly the north-african jews.

@dralger What are you talking about? The singer in this performance is actually Hungarian, and I don't think anyone pretends that she's a native speaker of Yiddish. What Americans say "Bei mir bist du schön"? The most famous American versions of the song that I know are by the Barry sisters (who were native speakers of Yiddish) and the Andrews sisters (who were not native speakers of Yiddish but absolutely did not say "schön").
