Just tried out my friends Blackberry Storm 1 at the office, seemed like a very snappy device. Well except for the fact that you must push down the key pad like you really mean to in order to type a text message. They have made some improvement on the Storm 2. Overall, I like the look and solid feel of the Storm.

The Storm 1 (9530) is just as good, except no Wi-Fi or 3G, ONLY IF you use the 5.0 software. I just upgraded my 9530 to 5.0.0.419 (official AT&T released O/S) and the phone is FAST, typing is a breeze, camera is way faster, O/S itself is worlds better than 4.7. No need to upgrade to the 9550 unless you want the WiFi and 3G, as far as I'm concerned. I'm in love with the Storm all over again!

I'm currently a curve user and have been looking for a touch screen wifi capable device for my next phone. Reason being, I'm on the phone constantly during the day and it kills my airtime charges significantly (my carrier is Verizon). In your opinion, which is the best touch screen wifi device (i phone or bb storm 2) keeping in mind email access as well. Great idea for the contest and have a safe and happy holiday!

I think Storm 2 is more efficient than bold 9700, but why is bold 9700 more expensive than the storm 2 tho? I may be wrong but Storm 2 and Bold 9700basically have same features right? and why are they so expensive.......

I have decided that this will be my first Blackberry phone ever months ago, I have had to wait because I don't have much $ on a fixed income. If I win this contest I would be so grateful and relieved that I wouldn't has to spend so much on this phone. Is the iphone is about the same as BB storm2? I really like the fact that you have to press down the screen hard, it feels just like a real keyboard. I want to try a touch screen phone so having it feel like a keyboard will be great!

It serves its purpose but at the end of the day it's still a great email device. I like the fact that this handheld is more media centric. However, I find myself undecided at the moment as to which device I prefer over the other.

The storm one is not as bad as everyone says. It was lag-gy and stuff, but with OS 5, its smooth as well and very much usable. Yeah, if only Blackberry App-world was as huge as Apple-store, then it would be great. Also I wish the UI was more colorful and customizable. But again its more for business people..!

Storm 2 is definitely more refined and sleek....!!

nice review im a trucker i've a 8310 and my problem is the small buttons & my big thumbs how much a difference is there between the 8310 & the S2 touch screen this would be a real nice upgrade thanks for the info-thumb cramps.

the screen is big and the keypad utilizes it to the fullest. I didn't seem to have a problem with it and I bet you wouldn't either.

for future improvements it would be great if they allowed you to be able to fully customize things on your phone. What i would like to see in the future with this device is a better web browser. Also more apps for the device! Sometimes they have apps for blackberry handhelds but you have to wait for the storm version because of the screen and virtual keyboard. I know the app twixtreme (twitter) does not work on the storm but is available for all other blackberries.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to everyone. I'm sure there'll be increasingly more apps available for Storm users in the near future. Regarding the web browser, it seems that has been a common complaint from BB users for a while; I wonder why nothing - or not much - has been done so far to improve it. I understand you are also an iPhone user; I know that all depends on use and purpose, but generally speaking, would you prefer to use a BB (Storm 2 for example) or an iPhone ?

Hey man good vid i could say it was honestly different than other reviews, im not just saying that. I have the storm 1 right now had it since the the month it came out last year, i love the phone i don't care what people say, storm 2 is an upgrade the new multi touch feature is just amazing and is an upgrade for sure, im thankful for the phone i have now but the storm 2 ahh its like a really nice upgrade all in all its hard to find a guy that would do something like u are.wish u all the best!

hi alphaace, great review and thanks for the advice ive been contemplating on which of the new blackberry to get for a couple weeks now...I do have one question for you though, have you experienced any problems with the Blackberry Storm 2? I have been reading about some complaints with the bottom four keys on the phone not being very responsive sometimes. Have you experienced any thing like that? Happy Holidays!

Hey Alphaace, nice review for black berry. I have some questions.. I have a old black berry pearl. Very beat up,and in much need of a upgrade. Iv been looking at this phone for a while. =] My Screen has a giant crack in the middle of it. Do you know if the black berry storm2 screens break easy? Also, are there media options such as tv, gps, and an mp3 player? Once again, nice video and much luck to you and your videos.=]

It seems durable but it is a phone with a nice size screen. I would recommend a holster or something to protect it. As for media options, there is some very promising options for the phone. Of course it plays music plays videos ad has a maps application. Im sure there are several other options out there in the app store.

Exceptional review and extremely useful!  I do have a quick question. If you were a Verizon subscriber who used and were satisfied with Blackberry Tour, would the Blackberry Storm 2 be worth an upgrade for wifi, large screen, additional app memory or would you stick with the Blackberry tour? it depends on what you plan on using the device for.  Are you a fan of touch screen phones? That makes a big difference and is a game breaker.

no comment :-) lol they both have there pros and cons lol it depends on the user. I love my iPhone and my blackberry and I cant see not having both. The iphone has its push email service with mobileme and so does blackberry....web browsing goes to the iphone hands down. and media wise...well lets just say its iphone again. However, they are both good phones and have made a hugh imprint in handheld devices.

the battery life is ok not the best compared to other blackberry devices.

its ok not as good as other blackberrys...I found myself reaching for the charger a few times during a work day. I use my phone a lot during work and relay on it so it may very depending on your usage. I know my 9700 and 8900 has a stronger battery life.
