the onlt thing historic about fenway is the age of it its not like they won 26 world championships there most of the historic memories are of them choking
i cant get over the fact that the new stadium holds less capacity of people then the old one...so sad how they are gonna knock down a great piece of history. I'm sure I'm not the only one upset about it.
Very well done vid. From my first game ever (Oct 21, 1981) til my last (Sept 21, 2008) there are so many memories. And while my late grandfather and father will say that 1976-2008 Yankee Stadium is not Yankee Stadium (pre renovation Yankee Stadium was the REAL one to them), it was MY Yankee Stadium. For my generation of fans who still loved them when they weren't winning in the 80's, this was our home. I shall miss her, but look forward to the new park across the street. Goodbye, old friend.
As far as how loud it got, I may have to repecfully disagree with you on that one. I was there for both ALDS games in 95 (Tier reserved, section 26). And when Donald Arthur went yard it was loud. The place rocked. But I don't think anything could top Oct 15, 2001 Game 5 of the ALDS. From section 39 in rf bleachers (with my fellow Creatures), I swear to God, I thought the old lady was going to crumble beneath my feet. The entire borough must've shook that night. Dammit, i miss that place already.
How about Old Timer's Day 1978 when out of nowhere, Bob Sheppard announced that returning in 1980 to manage the Yankees would be Number One, Billy Martin!
i hate the yankees but Yankee stadium has too much history to be knocked down. if they want to play somewhere else they should at least make it a museum not a parking lot
I think the national baseball hall of fame needs to be moved to the old yankee stadium. i mean shit its the most historical sports venue in the world. it needs to be a museum not torn down!!!whats in cooperstown?? nothing its a stupid place to have the baseball hall of fame. The old yankee stadium is a perfect fit, more historical people and events have happened there than anywhere else. it practically is a hall of fame in its self. plain and simple:IT NEEDS TO BE CONVERTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME!
FUCK U U GODDAMN MOTHER FUCKING PIECE OF TITTY CLEVELAND STEAMER SHITBAG konagalvo! YANKEE STADIUM IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD AND WILL KICK YOUR FUCKING ASS IN HELL THEN SATAN AND GOD AND ALL THE ANGELS AND DEVILS WILL WACK THE LIVIN SHIT OUTTA YOU!!! YOU KNOW WHY THEY ARE TEARING IT DOWN! BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THE UNITED STATES! ALL THE OTHERS CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES! THEY WOULDNT TEAR THEIR STADIUM DOWN FOR SCHOOLS, STORES, AND MORE BECAUSE THEY DONT CARE1 THE YANKEES CARE! SO SHUT UP!
lol red sox fan talking about yankee seating prices being too high.....rofl. Both stadiums have high ticket prices because both teams are great...get over it. new YS will not be much more unless you're sitting in the front rows and have season tickets. and for the idiot that said nobody is gonna show up......the yankees have sold out their $2500 seats for the next 10 years.....
Are you nuts???Did i miss something? did Jesus Christ walk here? Talk about over the top! good luck getting seats in your new "holy Grail" next year suckers. The Steinbrenners really shoved it up yours this time. They tore down your stadium with all it's history, and built one that will cost you a months salary to see a game. Ha ha
Would you not be sad if the Sox were gonna have their stadium destroyed? I though so. This is not just a big deal to yankees fans, but to baseball in general. History happened here, and now its all gonna be torn down, so have some respect for the game.
agreed as a lifelong yankee fan i hate the red sox but when i went to boston i had a reverence to fenway park.....as much as i dislike them i hold dear the memories contained there
the ny giants football team played there for many years, a number of historic boxing matches have been there, and the pope has been there 3 times!
just look up historic events in that stadium, and you will see that it is not only the yankees that make that place so historic, not as a baseball stadium, but as a sports stadium in general
i never been to the stadium but watching stuff on T.V i'll never forget. Watching the Yankees cream the Red Sox for what seem like a lifetime which for some people were a lifetime. Arron Boone hitting a home run to send the Yanks into the world series, watching Derek Jeter dive into the stands to get a ball, Seeing Marino Rivera come out to close a game, Seeing the Yankees celebrate all of their world series victories Thank You Yankee Stadium Good Bye Yankee Stadium
I agree with Flipstaxx i mean with all the tradition and memories that has happened on that feild is gone its a shame...but im a still gonna be a huge yankee fan and i hope the team reinvents themselves next year for a sucessful season
This music is depressing..This is fucked up .. i will never forgive the yankees for this..they just put a curse on themselves.. they are trading away history for an architectural ripoff..New York will never be the same.. and the yankees will never be the same..Instead of them playing on grounds that babe ruth and lou gehrig played on .. they will now move to grounds that lou the construction worker helped build
dude, theyre the fucking yankees. its gay that theyre moving out of that stadium, but calm the hell down. the yankees don't do curses. and act like an actual fan instead of going against your fucking team you deuschbag.
just because im pissed about the stadium being knocked down doesn't mean im going against my team.so shut the fuck up nobody asked for your opinion asshole
well, you have to realize that they eventually had to move out...i don't know the condition of the current stadium, and that is reason they're doing it, but they should at least have a plaque of where home plate once was after the stadium goes down
but one of the hardest things to see is the greatest american sports stadium to be gone, forever
yea if you said sum shit like me in person i would knock you the fuck out.. show sum respect.."Bstoncityofchamps" you guys won how many world series ?? 1 ??
why did they renovate the way they did it the 70's is a complete mystery to me. Yankee stadium I was a beatiful palace with those facades. After 1974, yankee stadium was never the same
Att: Thundersrtuck.....I respect your opinion , however I am not pleased to see it being replaced. I have attended no less then 1500 games in the last fift plus years. Not to mention they are reducing the number of seats by 5,ooo. The memories of this park are some of my fondest. By the way the White House is old, should that be replaced as well?
None of us are pleased to see it go but the fact of the matter is that by 1973, Yankee Stadium was practically dead to rights and rather than complaining about its soon to be demise, we should be grateful that we were able to get an extra thirty years out of an obsolete facility. We all love the Stadium and we all have great memories but all things must pass. As far as the White House goes, I say that once a two ton steel beam falls from the ceiling, build a new one.
We shoiuld be ashamed of the throwaway mentality we have in this country, This is the equivelent of the Italians knocking down the Coliseum. God forgive them , because I will not. I have these images branded in my memoryof the greatest ballpark in our country
No, it's not. The Coliseum wasn't completely remodeled with anything of any historical significance torn out of it fifty years after it was built. As much as I love Yankee Stadium, it's an obsoloete facility and we've squeezed every last drop of blood we're going to get out of it. It is too old and fargone structurally to remodel a second time. Yankee Stadium was a total wreck before the renovation and we were VERY fortunate to get another 30 years out of it. Let's try keeping that in mind.
GooNleGone: The music is Carmina Burana composed by Carl Orf. Being that you asked a month ago, I have the feeling you already know that by now, and I also have the feeling you've heard it used in dozens of movies.

It's about time they knock it down. Maybe in the new stadium you won't miss 5 innings to go to the bathroom or get a hot dog and 500 pounds of roofing won't come crashing down into the loge, not to mention the countless other modern ammenities Yankee Stadium lacks.
Babe Ruth can always come to Fenway Park if he is still pissed about his house taken down.
