Why does everyone assume everyone that plays WOW thinks it's the End all be all? I have played WOW for 6 years as and End Game Raider until August. I have a 50 in Rift. I played Vanguard. I am now playing SWTOR. They all have something they do better than WOW. Challenge VG. Less Static World Rift. Companions and no Undead(lol)SWTOR. WOW is just better streamlined than All of them. AH is better. UI Customization is better. LFD is better. Wow still has strong content. It's aging though.

@Rawcows yeah pretty much. I tried playing WoW for about 2 hours and got bored but thats just me and I ended playing gw. I like that there is no subscription fee to play and just like the feel and game play of gw, which will probably lead me to play GW 2 when it does finally come out. I've played wow and a few other mmorpgs and by far WoW takes the cake. the problem with it is that it tries to appeal to a wider audience than the game can really take. if it focused solely on pve with pvp as a side it would fare much better in my opinion. warhammer would fare far better if it focused purely on pvp. GW2 might make the same mistake as WoW but i certainly hope not. Definitely the best looking game ever though.

i love this game because it got me to finally realise wow was a waste of time and that there is nothing special about it... it made me cut my losses and quit, simple as it can get. A game like guild wars should be the benchmark for all mmos, not wow.
But let's be honest, GW2 will SURELY take lots of players from WoW... But not all, that's not possible. In my opinion it will be 3-5 million. Stays 9-7 million in WoW, pretty much. Then... Who knows, WoW might ressurect or get going down.
I don't like the idea of NOT paying monthly fees actually. In my eyes that means there will be no funds to develop, improve, remove bugs and expand like WoW does. Im happy to pay for WoW each month cus it ensures you youre game is topped off every week again. WoW's gotten old. Its time to make room for new gen mmorpg. And have patience for this game, for each day they prolong the release date thyey make the game better!
...It took 5-6 years but someone had to make the REAL next gen MMO. And no one could have done it better than ArenaNet. All the other big companies are playing it safe and making WoW clones (LOL fail SWtOR). However, since ArenaNet is a small games developer, they are able to take risks. Music is rather rubbish, try a few tweaks, but you have a good few reasons, althogh your way of getting points across is a little lax... I don't think this is the best you can do, no matter how right you may about us all loving GW and GW 2 (when it finally releases)

I've played wow and a few other mmorpgs and by far WoW takes the cake. the problem with it is that it tries to appeal to a wider audience than the game can really take. if it focused solely on pve with pvp as a side it would fare much better in my opinion. warhammer would fare far better if it focused purely on pvp. GW2 might make the same mistake as WoW but i certainly hope not. Definitely the best looking game ever though.

I don't like the idea of NOT paying monthly fees actually. In my eyes that means there will be no funds to develop, improve, remove bugs and expand like WoW does. Im happy to pay for WoW each month cus it ensures you youre game is topped off every week again. Really really looking forward to GW2 tho, it looks like its gonna be insane, but again I don't think theres money to rlly improve it when the only incomes are the profits from buying the game itself.

They get most of they're money from people buying the game its self, and they will have a "Game shop" where you can buy certain things like skills, armor, Pets, costumes ETC, like in the current Guild wars, this is where they're funds are coming from, and Arena net has many subscription based games like Linage and Aion, where they get money to even make the game.

...It took 5-6 years but someone had to make the REAL next gen MMO. And no one could have done it better than ArenaNet. All the other big companies are playing it safe and making WoW clones (LOL fail SWtOR). However, since ArenaNet is a small games developer, they are able to take risks.
