I don't know why akerfeldt decided to settle down with kids. It dissapoints me that he chose to raise a family, simply because musicians have difficulty supporting that kind of lifestyle. This could be a telltale sign of the decline of Opeth. Opeth and Porcupine Tree are the only two bands whose albums I search for at record stores. Here's to hoping their next release will meet (or exceed) my expectations. Regardless, I wish him, and his family the best.

The subject of being away from his family seems to be at the front of his mind here because he mentions it almost at the very beginning and somehow comes back to it again at the end. I suspect Mikael Akerfeldt is a good father and a good husband and I respect him even more for that than I do as a musician and songwriter, which is quite a lot, believe me.
