Personally Im a boston fan so I would say Jordan, but I would say jordan if I wasn't a boston fan. @jstar25 I never siad one thing about physical defense sir. I said ZONE. Yes if was more physical back then but it is more technical now. As long as you are just as physical with the other team it will be easier than trying to beat the techinical defense. In Jordans era a player without the ball could not be double teamed and when I watch games and trust me I watch half the laker games in the regular season I see kobe getting denyed the ball by two defenders.
@paintballfraser11 have you ever watched Bulls regular season games back when MJ played? Jordan faced zone, Jordan has been double teamed to be denied the ball. I only stated physical play because just as quick as you point out Zone you neglect to acknowledge the physical aspect of the game when MJ played as compared to when Kobe plays. You act like Zone is the end all be all to the discussion and it's not the case.
Bottom line Zone Defense is NOT Kryponite to MJ's game.
Maybe Kobe gets double teamed a little more (but not a lot more). It doesnt matter how you analyze things-----40 year old Michael Jordan played with the Wizards in the CURRENT ERA. He did drop off a bit from his Bulls years due to age and 3-4 year layoff but I think the current NBA defenses still helped him do better than he really was. I really, really believe prime Jordan would have averaged AT LEAST another 5 ppg in the CURRENT ERA (which wouldve put him around 35-40 ppg)

Right on - during MJ's time there was no debate on who was the greatest in the game during that era. You never heard the argument "is Barkley better than MJ ?" During Kobe's era, Duncan, Shaq, and later, LeBron can all bring credibility to the argument that they were the best during their peak which overlaps Kobe's career. Now if you turn to stats - its no contest - MJ almost sweeps Kobe in every single real or imagined category. Kobe is great, but MJ is unequivocally the greatest.

Yes, first title Kobe averaged like 22 points a game there were like 4 or 5 other guards doing better. Second chip Kobe was putting up like 28 which was great but still others were better, 3rd chip he was like 24 a game others were better. You cant just argue era's. I dont think either are the best ever but lets look at it this way. Skill for skill Kobe is a better player. Kobe plays in a tougher era with zones and way better athletes. I think MJ is credited too much for bringing basketball back to life during the watered down era (As Magic and Bird left). YOu cant use stats because they came into the league under 2 different situations. Its a toss up but skill for skill Kobe is better.
Kobe is the most overrated player in NBA hitory, people comparing him to Jordan is a crime. He got 3 rings by being a sidekick/role player, then had 4 good seasons as the main guy were he established himself as the greatest ball hog in NBA history, had a good Orlando series which he deserved, and then stole a Finals MVP from Pau Gasol after choking the whole series except for 2 games. 2004-2007- Considered the best in the NBA during this time, but not as widely as jordan. Nash had the MVP's n Tim duncan was just beasting the league. And Lebron and Wade were both taking their own stand

@jstar25 I never siad one thing about physical defense sir. I said ZONE. Yes if was more physical back then but it is more technical now. As long as you are just as physical with the other team it will be easier than trying to beat the techinical defense. In Jordans era a player without the ball could not be double teamed and when I watch games and trust me I watch half the laker games in the regular season I see kobe getting denyed the ball by two defenders.

I only stated physical play because just as quick as you point out Zone you neglect to acknowledge the physical aspect of the game when MJ played as compared to when Kobe plays. You act like Zone is the end all be all to the discussion and it's not the case.
Bottom line Zone Defense is NOT Kryponite to MJ's game.

Maybe Kobe gets double teamed a little more (but not a lot more). It doesnt matter how you analyze things-----40 year old Michael Jordan played with the Wizards in the CURRENT ERA. He did drop off a bit from his Bulls years due to age and 3-4 year layoff but I think the current NBA defenses still helped him do better than he really was. I really, really believe prime Jordan would have averaged AT LEAST another 5 ppg in the CURRENT ERA (which wouldve put him around 35-40 ppg)

Right on - during MJ's time there was no debate on who was the greatest in the game during that era. You never heard the argument "is Barkley better than MJ ?" During Kobe's era, Duncan, Shaq, and later, LeBron can all bring credibility to the argument that they were the best during their peak which overlaps Kobe's career. Now if you turn to stats - its no contest - MJ almost sweeps Kobe in every single real or imagined category. Kobe is great, but MJ is unequivocally the greatest.

Yes, first title Kobe averaged like 22 points a game there were like 4 or 5 other guards doing better. Second chip Kobe was putting up like 28 which was great but still others were better, 3rd chip he was like 24 a game others were better. You cant just argue era's. I dont think either are the best ever but lets look at it this way. Skill for skill Kobe is a better player. Kobe plays in a tougher era with zones and way better athletes. I think MJ is credited too much for bringing basketball back to life during the watered down era (As Magic and Bird left). YOu cant use stats because they came into the league under 2 different situations. Its a toss up but skill for skill Kobe is better.

Kobe is the most overrated player in NBA hitory, people comparing him to Jordan is a crime. He got 3 rings by being a sidekick/role player, then had 4 good seasons as the main guy were he established himself as the greatest ball hog in NBA history, had a good Orlando series which he deserved, and then stole a Finals MVP from Pau Gasol after choking the whole series except for 2 games. 2004-2007- Considered the best in the NBA during this time, but not as widely as jordan. Nash had the MVP's n Tim duncan was just beasting the league. And Lebron and Wade were both taking their own stand

You may be on to something... I'll give Kobe the edge on outside game but that's about it. No one can say he's a better inside scorer than MJ, you can't say he's a better team player than MJ (both are not really team players), you can't say he's a better defender than MJ, you can't even say he's a better scorer than MJ, and most of all you can not say he has a bigger WILL TO WIN than MJ.
That's a tall order my friend... and Kobe just can't fill it. Maybe he can someday but not today. -Peace

sorry, because i type so past at work, let say, mvp is deserve for the greatest player of the season that mean you the best in the world of the season, the most valuable player of a season. kareem got 6 mvp yes but no mj got 10 scoring record, 3 steal tittle record, defensive player of the year by a shooting guard record, 2 slam dunk record,the most game winning shoot regular and playoff record, nba most record with 76 record in the nba,63 pt playoff record,most 50+pt playoff in playoff record

I can't figure what your point was really about, it's badly worded and/or spelled... looks like you're saying MVP means nothing. If you believe that then I guess that's your opinion. I'm not saying MVP's = Greatest Ever, MJ BROUGHT MORE TO THE GAME THAN KOBE!
If MVPs alone = Greatest Ever then my video would be about Kareem Abdul Jabbar and not MJ.
My point on mentioning MJ's MVP's was that he was the best in the league many times... Kobe was not even the best on his team for a long time.

this dude doesn't know what he is talking about . You can't base an argument on who has more regular season MVPs... lol... do you know who gets to vote for MVP? it's decided by a panel of sports writers and broadcasters who may or may not be bias towards certain players...
to me and a lot of people the regular season mvp award doesn't mean shit.. It'd be a different story if current nba players got to vote for the mvp..

I'm not in denial... Kobe quite possibly could surpass MJ. You said it yourself you don't even think he's the best player ever right now. So in essence you're in agreement with me.
Today Kobe is the best in the league... but I don't feel he's the best ever. Could he get there... he could but he will need to play at his top level head and shoulders above the rest for a couple more seasons. From a mental standpoint and sheer will to win I don't think he'll ever be on the MJ level though.

its not an agruement of who is the best right now, it Kobe. All the numbers can be thrown out, because Micheal and Lebron had to be the best on there team from day one. Kobe had a slow rise to number one. But when you look and compare todays competition to the mid 90's, it not comparable...Kobe is facing a better league. And when you look at what the Kobe and Mike could do on the floor, they both have ever move know to man....Im personally a believer that Kobe is the best ever.

Full of superstars?? Shaq and who else?? Rick Fox? Robert Horry? Derrick Fisher?? I wouldn't call anyone of those dudes a superstar are roll players not superstars. And the year they had GP and the Mail Man both of them were in the twilight of their careers and I would say Kobe was better then both.
